F4s as higher instantaneous and sustained over the f4j due to the slats, they produce lots of lift
does it not bleed more speed than an F-4E from the Navy slats and being heavier since its a Navy phantom?
I was comparing it to the f4j. F4E is indeed straight up better in fm due to weight and internal gun. It’s much faster as well due to internal gun
Fair.
Agile Eagle allows higher AOA at the deficit of STR.
And F-4J/S’s STR is already 2 deg/s worse than FGR2.
STR matters more than HMD when it comes to radar missiles.
At some stage I’ll spade my F-4J, but you definitely feel the significantly worse engines when flying it, and its stock grind is also pretty horrific, especially now with air spawns.
@Stockholm_Blend
Yes, FGR2’s meta is deck rat while F-4J can do high altitude BVR a bit better.
That does not warrant different BRs when FGR2’s flight performance is already 16% superior.
@Normandy_Corsair
PD locks are faster. All I have to do is just lock target in front of my radar, and there’s no range limitation.
SuperTEMP is superior to AIM-7F at close range.
FGR2 sustains at over 15 degrees per second vs F-4J’s 13 on full fuel.
Contrary to popular belief, but a Phantom that isn’t a bus to fly is far more of a buff than you think it is.
isnt it better for close range shots since it accelerates faster?
I will at least admit, even as a U.S. main, that the Brit Phanties, especially the FG.1, has cool-looking, taller front landing gear and their bicolor RAF camouflage looks cooler as well.
The premium U.K. F-4J the only positive thing I can think of that it has over the American F-4J counterpart, is that it gets the 20mm GAU-4/A (same one as the U.S. F-4C) over the MK 11 MOD 5 gunpod lol.
i have to disagree with this, being able to HMD lock and rip the nose around with the better ITR is more useful imo
Sustained turn rates doesn’t matter in a navy phantom when you have to bring your gun. You’re not out rating anything with the gun on. Much more important to have more aoa for an early shot
Also HMD defeats the benefits of AIM-7F… so I’m not sure why people would claim HMD as a bonus when AIM-7F’s primary bonuses are beyond HMD range. If HMD’s a bonus, AIM-7F is not, and if AIM-7F is a bonus then HMD is not. If HMD could go out to 30km, that’d be a different story.
@kizvy
All Phantoms involved have guns on, and F-4S’s gun caused more drag last checked.
no, because 7f pulls sooner off the rail, has a tighter turn circle, and you aren’t losing shots because of acceleration generally
7e2 is the PL-5B of sparrows but without the range that pl5b has relative to its br
oh ok i didnt know that
I added more details
7e2s gains their full pull sooner .7 vs 1 second compared to the 7f. However 7f starts maneuvering earlier. You can argue what’s more informant, gaining full pull earlier or starting turning(very lightly) earlier
yeah i saw
now account for the 7F’s tighter turn circle it has due to its slower, more gradual buildup of speed
I’d rather have the e2s acceleration, most people I fire at don’t out roll it compared to the 7f/m
Strange, I never knew that I couldn’t fire AIM-7F in the range of HMD due to the safety distance.
:/
And it is quite funny that you successfully excluded every other aspect in which F-4J/S are better than F-4K/M, and let AIM-7F vs Skyflash and HMD remain.
this is in your mind, go ahead and let some guy with a 7e2 fire at you and just sparrow roll it like you can any other sparrow. It’s just as effective, it’s not a kinetic problem it’s a seeker problem with updating
Nah it’s not in my mind, I think it’s mostly due to the fact that at 11.3 much less people know how to out roll sparrows compared to 12.7. Plus the acceleration definitely makes it harder. You can definitely still out roll it sure but it’s harder to do
Ok but this is saying the same thing I said. The point is that you can outroll the 7e2 the same its just your opponents not doing it.
no correlation with my experience, both are easily done
