– V.G.33C-1: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. AEC mismanages radiator to where there is little to no speed increase with WEP under 4500m. Time wear: (-9/-9°C) @ 16min. Fuel: 37min. Engine hp drop: 4500m.
*Time wear: (-4/-4°C) @ 2min, then again (-5/-5°C) @ 16min for total of (-9/-9°C) @ 16min.
*Engine off with (30sec) in white, then back on, usually resolves (Per color) overheat wear.
*Yellow overheat = (5min). (2:30min) after engine on/off power cycle. (1:30min if stacked).
*Orange overheat = (3min).
*Cold maps: Prop90 with chart settings can be used for Infi-WEP.
*Mod & Hot maps: Prop90 with chart settings can be used for Yellow Infi-WEP.
*Prop90 increases WEP top speed approx (-2/+2kph) and increases time to climb approx (+2.2/+0.5sec) per 1000m. Prop90 can be used to 5500m Then Prop100 should be used. Prop90 should be used with a prioritization of WEP use in mind.
Details:
AEC:449/449, MEC:447/462, 0Rad:466
Prop100 with Rad15/15 @ 1000m = 447/462WEP kph (Cold)
Prop100 with Rad15/15 @ 1000m = 447/462WEP kph (Mod)
Prop100 with Rad15/15 @ 1000m = 447/462WEP kph (Hot)
*Prop90 with Rad15/15 @ 1000m = 445/464WEP kph (Cold) (Infi-WEP)
*Prop90 with Rad15/15 @ 1000m = 445/464WEP kph (Mod) (Yellow Infi-WEP)
*Prop90 with Rad15/15 @ 1000m = 445/464WEP kph (Hot) (Yellow Infi-WEP)
Supplemental Notes:
*Radiators set to 15/15 to simplify transitioning to Prop90 (yellow Infi-WEP) and to provide a slight buffer for time wear and WEP use when using Prop100.
– D.520: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. AEC uses incorrect prop pitch for worse climb, speed and higher temps. MEC corrects prop pitch to Prop90 for better climb, speed and lower temps allowing for Infi-WEP. Prop90 allows for Infi-WEP, improves top speed approx (+5/+5kph) and improves climb approx (-2.4/-1.5sec) per 1000m. Time wear: (-4/-4°C) @ 16min. Fuel: 39min. Engine hp drop: 4900m.
*MEC chart settings allow Infi-WEP.
Details:
AEC:435/454, MEC:440/459, 0Rad:459
***Infi-WEP settings: ***
Prop90 with Rad0/0 @ 1000m = 590/628WEP kph (Cold, Mod & Hot)
Supplemental Notes:
*Downward drift with autotrim on.
*Elevator/pitch controls sloppy.
*Pitch/elev, substantial sensitivity increase needed for flight stick
– M.B.157: This plane benefits from MEC with better cooling. AEC engages cooling too soon and too much. MEC balances it out for a higher WEP top speed. Time wear: (-0/-2°C) / 16min. Fuel: 30min. Engine hp drop: 7300m.
*Engine off with (30sec) in white, then back on, heals/recovers (Per color) overheat wear.
*Orange overheat = (3min).
Details:
AEC:519/530, MEC:518/560, 0Rad:569
Prop100 with Rad10/10 @ 1000m = 522/565WEP kph (Cold)
Prop100 with Rad20/20 @ 1000m = 518/560WEP kph (Mod)
Prop100 with Rad30/30 @ 1000m = 514/557WEP kph (Hot)
– VB.10C-1, VB.10-02: These planes benefit from MEC over AEC with better cooling. AEC mismanages radiator causing overheating and engine death, MEC settings correct this and allow for Yellow Infi-WEP. Time wear: (-3/-4°C) @ 1min. Fuel: 30min. Engine hp drop: 7200m.
*Mixture should be lowered to (Mix30) above 6500m to extend ceiling.
*Engine off with (30sec) in white, then back on, usually resolves (Per color) overheat wear.
*Yellow overheat = (5min). (3min) after engine on/off power cycle. (1min if stacked).
*Orange overheat = (3min).
*MEC chart settings will generally not exceed yellow overheat when using WEP.
*Keep speed above 300-330kph for adequate cooling.
*Oil Radiator Creates no perceivable drag and can be fully open to 100%.
*Prop97 had same performance as Prop100. Prop97 can be used to 6500m Then Prop100 should be used. Minimal cooling difference, barely enough additional cooling to get an Infi-WEP option on cold maps, details below:
Details:
– VB.10C-1:
AEC:544/572, MEC:542/570, 0Rad:574
Prop100 with Rad100/40 @ 1000m = 542/570WEP kph (Cold)
Prop100 with Rad100/40 @ 1000m = 542/570WEP kph (Mod)
Prop100 with Rad100/70 @ 1000m = 537/564WEP kph (Hot)
***Infi-WEP settings: ***
Prop97 with Rad100/100 @ 1000m = 532/558WEP kph (Cold) (Up to 6500m)
– VB.10-02:
AEC:544/572, MEC:540/568, 0Rad:574
Prop100 with Rad100/40 @ 1000m = 542/570WEP kph (Cold)
Prop100 with Rad100/40 @ 1000m = 542/570WEP kph (Mod)
Prop100 with Rad100/70 @ 1000m = 535/562WEP kph (Hot)
***Infi-WEP settings: ***
Prop97 with Rad100/100 @ 1000m = 530/556WEP kph (Cold) (Up to 6500m)
Supplemental Notes:
*Prop97 isnt worth the bother on Mod & Hot maps. Barely any difference in temps. It can still be used up to 6500m but considering chart settings are already yellow Infi-WEP capable, it doesnt really add any tangible benefit to use Prop97 vs. Prop100.
– F4U-7: This Aircraft is very similar to F4U-4B, except this aircraft has slightly worse climb rate and top speed, however this aircraft has unlimited WEP. This aircraft runs hot. Prop pitch had to be lowered to Prop97 on Cold & Mod maps and Prop94 on Hot maps to manage overheating. Time wear: (-0/-0°C) @ 16min. Fuel: 30min. Engine hp drop: 7700m.
*Engine off with (5sec) in white, then back on, heals/recovers (All) overheat wear.
*Yellow overheat = (10min)
*Orange overheat = (3min)
*Cold maps: MEC chart settings allow for Infi-WEP
*Mod maps: MEC chart settings are intentionally setup to fly in constant yellow overheat at 100% throttle and not exceed orange overheat when using WEP. Will stay white at 100% throttle on Mod maps that are at/under (15.1°C).
*Hot maps: MEC chart settings are intentionally setup to fly in constant yellow overheat at 100% throttle and not exceed orange overheat when using WEP.
*Keep speed above 350-380kph for adequate cooling.
*Prop97 had similar climb as Prop100 (+0.15/+0.15sec) per 1000m climb, same top speed at 1000m, and lower temps up to 7700m, then Prop100 should be used.
*Prop94 had less climb than Prop100 (+0.4/+0.3sec) per 1000m climb, lower top speed (-2/-0kph) at 1000m, and lower temps up to 7700m, then Prop100 should be used.
*Super charger gear shifts are the same for Prop97-Prop94.
*Appears to have unlimited WEP.
Details:
AEC:582/608, MEC:582/610, 0rad:618
Prop97 with Rad50/100 @ 1000m = 582/610 WEP kph (Cold) (Infi-WEP)
Prop97 with Rad50/100 @ 1000m = 582/610 WEP kph (Mod) (Yellow overheat)
Prop94 with Rad50/100 @ 1000m = 580/610 WEP kph (Hot) (Yellow overheat)
Supplemental Notes:
*Prop100 can be used in place of Prop97 on cold maps but has minimal performance gains.
*Prop100 Super charger gears:
(2nd gear: 1700/400m) (3rd gear: 6200/5000m)
*Oil radiator had no residual effect helping Eng radiator which is why going over 50% with oil radiator made no perceivable difference.
*Pitch/elev slight sensitivity increase needed for flight stick
*Pitches down with AutoTrim on.
– P-40F-5: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. This plane does not overheat like the P-40E-1. Performance seems identical to P-40F-10… Time wear: (-0/-0°C) @ 16min. Fuel: 30min. Engine hp drop: 4900m.
*Engine off with (15sec) in white, then back on, heals/recovers (All) overheat wear.
*Orange overheat = (3min).
*On Cold maps, MEC chart settings will generally not exceed orange overheat when using WEP.
Details:
AEC:472/513, MEC:475/515, 0Rad:527
PropAuto with Rad-/80 @ 1000m = 478/518WEP kph (Cold)
PropAuto with Rad-/100 @ 1000m = 475/515WEP kph (Mod)
PropAuto with Rad-/100 @ 1000m = 475/515WEP kph (Hot)
– F-6C-10-NA: This plane will run hot without MEC. This plane is very similar to the P-51C-10 except it has slightly lower top speed and very slight decrease in climb. It generally makes sense to use Infi-WEP settings, see details below. Time wear: (-0/-0°C) @ 16min. Fuel: 30min. Engine hp drop: 7000m.
*Engine off with (30sec) in white, then back on, heals/recovers (Per color) overheat wear.
*Yellow overheat = (10min). (5-6min) after engine on/off power cycle.
*Orange overheat = (3min)
*MEC chart settings allow Infi-WEP.
*Keep speed above 300-330kph for adequate cooling.
