Open cockpit canopy exploit needs to be eliminated

Which will likely result in heavy backlash and is honestly not worth it at all, at least for casual play. Its only a tiny minority that use “cheat” sound mods, not worth fucking over every legitimate user.

Cheers for referencing that.

I am sympathetic to the reasoning people put forward for us all having the same engine volume setting, but as I outlined there, it’d definitely make the game more difficult for those hard of hearing.

It’s really a tough thing to find workable solutions for, because ultimately, what people like me (who can still hear, just badly) or fully deaf people need is visual aides. Like directional indicators of where sound is coming from. Environmental subtitles so to speak lol, but there’s not really a fair way of implementing such stuff outside of a single player / PVE title.

Even if you could magic some way for it to only be used by those who need it, it’d still be an unfair advantage. Being able to reduce the audio blur by lowering unimportant sounds (like own engine) is really all that can be offered to us.

I mean, there’s nothing stopping any player from lowering their engine volume like most players so they can listen out for an enemy. If they choose not to do it, that’s on them.

I don’t lower my engine volume for the exact same reason I don’t play on ULQ and don’t fly with open canopy in sim.

Hearing disability is just an inappropriate excuse to keep this exploit in the game. There are all kinds of disabilities that never get accounted for. This game doesn’t even have a colorblind mode.

The “cheers for referencing that” is a confirmation for me that you just found a convenient excuse.

Except ULQ no longer offers advantages. It’s been that way for some years. Open canopy in sim also doesn’t help you, I’m literally in a sim match RIGHT NOW and I couldn’t hear the La5 that almost snuck up on me (his tracers flying right over my cockpit was my first clue he was there) nor the P-40F that I was shooting at within ~500m.

So I don’t get what the complaints about either are. Anyone can (and should) go to their settings and turn down their own engine volume, since even at the minimum it is already far too loud.

But custom low settings still do

Lmao

Crew in a real tank hears absolutely nothing but their own engine. Why do you think they use headsets to communicate with each other while sitting 1-2m apart.

And crew in a real tank are not gonna get the same reload rate standing still vs driving around at 50kph. At the end of the day this is a GAME.

yeah, and it would better the game for there not to be an exaggerated ability to hear other players’ vehicles. It stifles flanking opportunities massively on these cramped maps.

Then you should be asking for better maps, not for everyone to be deaf.

Everyone being “deaf” (you wouldn’t be, just when you are running your engine you won’t be able to hear people 200 meters away) would simply be more realistic.

Far as I know you already can’t do that. Driving along already makes too much noise to filter out enemies 95% of the time.

I can hear people that far away in game currently.

Just stop man.

“This is just a game” seems to be the justification for every retarded thing that’s in the game.

Right now we have super hearing, you can practically mute your engine. Removing the exploit would make it reasonable.

+1

His clinging to the exploits he likes abusing is pathetic.

It isn’t an exploit if Gaijin explicitly allows it, especially since they’ve added a minimum volume for it to be too.

I don’t want to be forced to be nearly deaf just because some players dislike the fact that you can modify audio settings. I wan’t to be able to hear other tanks because it’s great to be able to identify targets before you see them.

I guess technically it isn’t.

You could still do that, but with engine off or at least while stationary.

I don’t want to be at a great disadvantage just because I enjoy playing the game with normal audio. The same way I don’t want to be at a great disadvantage just because I enjoy playing the game with good graphics.

Why should I have to give up the game looking or sounding good to be competitive?

I wouldn’t mind the open cockpit if not the dumb sound design in this game, driven by RB crowd, plus sound mods.

A missile at supersonic speeds, chasing your airplane which travels at supersonic speeds should NOT be audible at all.

Is it really so hard for Gaijin to add logic ( pseudo code)

If
view = in cockpit && speed > 300km/h
Then
audible sounds= radio, own engine, wind, own systems

If cockpit open then wind.volume * 5

They could keep their dumb missile sounds for players in AB and RB.

Actually thinking about it, they could disable all missile sounds in simulator completely and the gameplay would only benefit from it.

Holy superiority complex

Do you need to insult the people who don’t play the same modes as you?

Only makes sense on smaller crafts rather ones that were designed with a open cockpit.
