If it comes with increased drag, Im fine with it. But we don’t even have wind in the game… 😂
The increased drag probably wouldn’t affect the flight performance of propeller planes in a noticeable way, but I’m not 100% sure.
For jets, especially supersonic ones, it would.
We have it, but it’s turned off…
for this problem we just need wind sound - if the cockpit is open it should be unbearable noise … problem solved
It already is like that, you can’t hear anything if you’re going above 300kmh with the cockpit open. Maybe you’ll hear a jet or explosion, but you won’t be able to pinpoint a propeller plane that’s 1km away from you.
The issue still exists, it’s just been switched to something more insidious and it’s gotten worse…
So there is no advantage, you can’t hear enemies coming. Perhaps they just like it more.
Here’s some Ki-43s doing it:
You can still hear when people shoot their machine guns and fly past you a lot better with open canopy than you can with closed. That is in addition to better visibility. It’s still an advantage.
If this exploitation was a bug like getting x5 rp from a battle gaijin would adress it in two days but since it is a gameplay issue that effects fair players and not gaijin, it is no surprise that it is still not adressed
It is really impressive that when you speak about opened canopy, people force the narrative that it was ok in the 2WW era.
let me tell, everybody know that the issue is, a F-16 of Mig-23 doing this at 2000 Km/h
Stop being childsh you all and posting picture of old era planes, you guys are grown enought to understand where the problem is.
Additionally, I belive that even in that planes, the capacity of the pilot to hear anything should be impaired and not improved with canopy open. There is a good reason why engineers spent so much effort making those things…
I also wouldn’t want to be inside an unpressurised cockpit when the plane is constantly changing altitude from 100 to 20,000 ft and back to 100 ft in a minute.
I’m scared to imagine how a pilot would feel himself after several “exercises”.
But no, we have no penalties to T-1000 in cockpit.
Apparently there is still an unfair advantage, simply because people are still doing it, to hear missiles sounds when they are near and dodge them, gun firing and even engines I guess.
Also for the love of God can you guys stop bringing us images of old planes and pilots did it in WWII in special, minor and non combat situations?
This topic is about jets and in combat in the first place. If Gaijin made this issue possible in test fly I won’t mind. Enjoy it there in test fly, away from the PVP battles.
I used wwII planes open canopy pics when some players ask to remove opening door/canopy feature forever.
explain
Plus it doesn’t help their argument at all, WW2 pilots opened the canopy for ventilation or visibility. They were still never hearing aircraft approach them or guns firing.
With jets I’ve noticed I can hear missiles zip past even with the canopy closed. Gaijin for the love of god just mute all external aircraft and gun sounds.
Yet these posts RARELY make a distinction in eras (OP did, most the replies do NOT) and would be perfectly happy to remove it for the aircraft that DID fly open canopy all the time in real life.
Have you considered they might like the engine sounds more with open cockpit, where they’re much better than if you close it?
Russian pilots did it all the time in combat to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning or improve their visibility by getting rid of terrible glass.
Do you know the sound can be changed? By Installing sound packs.
Unfortunately, that will always be an issue unless Gaijin heavily restricts what sounds can be changed, or removes custom sounds entirely.
