it does not (would be busted if it did)
There was 1 guy on the enemy team that knew how to notch. Until he hit the ground. He was also doing iron dome. He died once and that means that it’s time for bed.
There are 100,000 people online throughout the entire world. Of those there are 11 that are playing top tier by my count. The one “good” game I got into is over with the slightest bit of resistance. There are as many people playing top tier as there is in 8.0 - 9.0 Ariete tier. My point is that its dead as hell.
I don’t know what you are doing to have “the most exciting games ever” but just from what I have seen from logging into the game is that it is exactly the same as its been for the past year. Maybe the super squad ends up playing against some of its members 1 in 5 games?
By doing more then just logging in and playing one game and taking it as face value confirmation bias. Or we simply have different definitions of what excites us. Or maybe youre just too good that nothing is a challenge, i have no way of knowing.
But this isnt relevant to the thread so ill move on.
The doors always open, never closed.
If it’s dead, then we’ve nothing to lose, don’t we. Might as well start changing something a little, especially when the change makes sense.
Except the change doesn’t make sense. It is based on the premise that notching is currently too easy and there are too many players in the game that are too good at it. The people that are “too good at it” are a very tiny minority of players and most of them have been playing top tier more or less on a daily basis for years on end at this point.
I would argue that overall player behavior is relevant to the thread. We saw what happened with the reduction of multipathing from 100m to 60m. This new change would make top tier new and refreshing for about 2 weeks and then it will die even harder because all of the changes would create an even larger advantage for already experienced players and basically create a learning curve that a normal person isn’t even going to attempt to learn.
Even in the game that I just played there were multiple instances where I would have died basically as soon as I spawned because an Su-30 was already able to push the spawn at high altitude and high speed. This was already a problem in F-15C meta that most players could not cope with and it will be even moreso without multipathing, small notch gates, and strong datalink.
Like we are talking about artificially raising the difficulty because a total of around 10 players know how to notch reliably and can deal with multiple launches / angles at once. This new system basically guarantees you get pushed to the back of your map and die over your airfield.
Something people don’t consider is that ARHs should not go active instantly after they get in range
Staying on DL until 3-5km would fix the issue of them being easy to notch
What learning curve a normal person is going to attempt to learn in your opinion.
What’s your suggestion of raising the skill level, so that top tier planes can actually use their tools.
You keep clinging to it when it’s not true.
Maybe it is true that around 10 players can notch a MICA fired from 5km.
Anyone can notch any missile launched from 20km.
Considering the majority of responsibility of toptier state lies on iron dome, this would probably be a much bigger change then just 2 weeks of life. I think the understanding most have here is buffing DL and nerfing notching isnt the sole suggestion here. These things in tandem with redtuction of MCM reliabilty would allow players to actually use other mechanics they already have a base understanding of. Not to mention bring back players who left due to iron dome.
I would assume most players have a baseline understanding of the notch, IOG, and DL. I find it hard to believe expanding on already ingame systems would be some insane learning curve esspecially if they had a reason to play toptier without iron dome to worry about.
I understand youre exaggerating here, but i encourage you to play more then one or two games here and there and peak hours, and i really think youd be surprised with some things you find. I dont know what else to say other then i disagree, and my reference is the large amount of time spent at top tier in the past 3 or so week. I just dont see how building on current features and removing the current leading issue with toptier (mcm) all in tandem will create some perfect storm of toptier being more dead then it currently is.
Thats another option. Variable active ranges based upon DL.
Even 10km if DL was maintained would be a big buff
Less time to react, benefits people that are paying attention and preemptively turn when they see a missile heading at them while punishing the ones that don’t
If the MSL warning doesnt show until these ranges im not sure that would be a great system. Players still need enough time to react, this i would say is reaching into the average player wont cope well territory. Even for high skilled players notching with 5km of warning can be very difficult.
Along with the other suggestions i think that would be going too far. Simply buffing DL and nerfing notch reliability would allow players to still work off the same room as before and only have to refine or even just stick with already esstablished systems.
Giving them almost half the room to defend or even less with 5km is an unrealistic expectation in my opinion.
This is a massive reason why the F-14A IRIAF went up to 13.7 in air rb as well.
The average player won’t do well with that kind of thing even in rb
The current one at least has a gameplay loop that isn’t “lol you got launched on in the NEZ…cope and seethe”. For all of its flaws you can at least learn the notching mechanic and aspire to learn the launch - notch - relaunch cycle.
How does it raise the skill level? The team with more players will just push the spawn of the smaller team and camp them. How are you going to “Control The NEZ” if you are getting launched at as soon as you complete your takeoff roll by someone at 12km going Mach 2?
Currently in-game to make notching work you have to get to the correct angle, drop chaff, and change direction.
What we are suggesting is a system to make notching work you have to do all of the above…but also now the correct angle is smaller. But also you have to notch the planes radar and the missiles radar. But also you have to notch the rest of the enemy teams radar.
How is this system going to work when a team has a 2:1 advantage on Afghanistan and has naturally decided to push the spawn? How are you going to manage your NEZ when an Su-30 is launching R-77-1 at you on your takeoff roll? How is this system going to work when you are launched on from two different angles?
I’ve managed to turn around 3 games tonight and they aren’t even cherry-picked because they were just the only top tier lobbies available. Each time the team that I joined started at a severe player deficit.
How many actual players would be able to duplicate the same success? How many players are willing to die constantly and come back for more? This new system as advertised would give me or my only other team mate zero chance of turning this game around simply because we would have to run to map border as soon as we took off and then get detonated by missiles anyways.
If this system had been implemented sooner then me and the former pookies could have killed the game even faster and more thoroughly.
I have a proposal for people trying to make top tier even more unfun as it is now → just play DCS, it already has all the mechanics they want and it has propably the biggest community of cringe-larpers to fit right in.
Stay mad
I have a proposal for people who don’t even like BVR combat → just play props. Props can only use guns, you will fit right in.
From what I heard DCS missiles have quite a few problems with desync and their missile code isn’t top notch, however I don’t think they’re cringe larpers as well.
Yeah I’ve heard you can sparrow roll any missile in the game, and the proxy fuse isn’t super reliable because instead of being based on the distance to the closest part of the plane, its based on the distance to the pilot.
wt used to be similar to that actually

I just don’t think dcs might be the best example for missile guidance logic, I heard in bms it’s a must to go cold against all missiles with notching being useless as well which is probably a more realistic way of missile modelling.
