Rafale? probably. Eurofighter? Fighting for its life every other update.
Based on…? What, the Rafale/Eurofighter’s low channel losses in comparison to F-15E’s? You’re trying to make an equivalence of airframes/intake design where there isn’t one
Geee I don’t know maybe since the channel loss for the Eurofighter is 12.2% LESS than the F-15e in game?
You tell me. 22.5% seems to be a magical number Gaijin pulled out for balancing reasons. Basically everyone cried on the dev server that the F-15e was performing too well so they nerfed the performance.
the thing is the f15 intakes should not produce anywhere near as much channel loss as they do in game
they are large enough to provide airflow at lower speeds and have a huge range of actuation to reduce airflow to what is necessary for the engines to minimize drag at higher speed
and dont eft and rafale have s duct intakes (that are known to increase channel losses)
They aren’t nerfed.
They could be incorrect, but they haven’t been nerfed.
@Alpharius11348@ileaveuptiers
F-15E’s engines haven’t changed, otherwise the spreadsheet would’ve changed in the last recording.
EJ200’s thrust is static thrust.
M88-2’s thrust is static thrust.
Pratt & Whitney is known to cite at-speed thrust of their engines.
At speed thrust:
Sitting at 33,000lbf of reheat thrust.
Rafale has S duct intakes, Eurofighter doesn’t. Also, going head first into explaining why channel losses aren’t through the roof would take way too long and you honestly seem ready to die on this hill so I cba
This is not true and I remember having this exact discussion with you back then. Thrust was nerfed massively at high altitude shortly after release, thousands of kgf of thrust lost at 9000m as you can see. Blue was new(and probably still current), orange was release thrust:
I’m not saying release thrust was accurate, it wasn’t. But saying its thrust wasn’t nerfed by Gaijin isn’t correct either.
its very interesting because after burning thrust typicaly increases at speed, and there isnt too much of a reason for a decrease especialy with variable intake ramps
an irl example I have on hand which shows an f4e and extends to ~2,200 kmh TAS for the 36,000 ft and 40,000 ft lines
as you can see thrust is still increasing
and in game both eft and rafale show similar behavior of thrust continuing to increase (possibly starting to approach an asymptote but there is not really a reason for it to start decreasing)
edit:
for context f4e (with slats)(loading 1 = clean) flight envelope from the same document, dashed line is without slats
