Mysterious and Unique Japanese Vehicles
I’m sure I’m not the only one who spends countless hours researching their favorite nation’s vehicles, only to come across some vehicles you’ve never seen before. Even worse, there is either little information on it, no information at all, or the information is in another language in a book you’ve yet to read. Thus, I want to create a thread where we can all share mysterious Japanese vehicles that we’ve encountered in our research. Perhaps we can even so…
Perhaps the most vaunted establishment of the Japanese Armed Forces is its Navy. The modern-day JMSDF has a rich and illustrious history and is ranked amongst the best in the world. However, it would be difficult to separate its history and collective expertise from its predecessor, the Imperial Japanese Navy. Like its modern-day counterpart, the IJN was also a force to be reckoned with, easily competing with other great powers of the time. Thus, I would like to create this topic to consolidate …

Hello! this post will serve as a place to cataloge and discuss weapons used by post war Japan for the JASDF, JGSDF and JMSDF I will cover both domestic and foreign options. Japan has many weapons however my focus will be on missiles/bombs etc. If people can give me info on Japanese guns and cannons, shells used then I don’t mind adding them but I am not that knowledgeable on them. Inspiration for this comes from the “British Weapon Systems” thread.
(WIP will update op soon)

Ok, let’s do a T-84 recap;
As far as I know, it would be comparable to a T-90M gameplay wise, right?
Does it have spall liners?

I don’t know.
It’s a Ukrainian tank for Thailand, which Russia will not get. So… I wouldn’t count on it, even if it has it IRL.

From my understanding, it doesn’t but it does have better maneuverability (35km/h reverse speed) and slightly better ERA at the cost of poor munition choices (except the Kombat GLATGM which is tandem-HEAT w/ 800mm+ of pen)

At this point, this is a tank that needs almost no introduction. “BM Oplot” (Object 478DU-9) is currently the commercial name (aka “T-84M”) of the ultimate evolution of a long line of MBTs designed and produced in Kharkov. It’s the last derivative of the good old T-64, and a direct descendant and deep modification of the T-80UD. BM Oplot was designed in the first decade of the new millenium and until the appearance of T-90MS in 2013, it was undisputedly the best and most modern ta…

IIRC, it uses the best Chinese round: Type DTC10 125mm APFSDS

T-80UD-ish base. (a different UD from those in game)
MBT-2000 powerpack.
Relikt-ish ERA (although fundamentally different). Probably will perform worse or same in game.
I don’t think it has spall liners.
Might be given (pity) Chinese DTC-10-125. Thailand has those and the round is backwards compatible with older autoloaders.

That’s what I thought it was issued in Thailand but I couldn’t remember, I appreciate it.

basically a better Pakistani T-80UD with Relict like ERA (supposedly better, but it’s non-russian ERA sooo), held back by poor ammo (3BM42 equivalent or possibly BTA4/DTC-125)

Shame DTC-10-125 is underperforming so brutally… but glad it won’t be stuck with 3BM42 at least!
其实我和歼15已婚你们别碰他好吗:
MBT-2000 powerpack.
Eww, lawnmower engine sound, then.
That sounds nice!
What about reload? 6.5?

Well, they don’t use Relikt ERA in real life. They use some sort of foam/rubber.
It’s very much overperforming ingame, but that’s just for Russia, otherwise their tanks would be the worst ingame without a possibility to get something better.

Yeah, the DTC-10-125 should have around 680mm of pen IIRC.
Oplot for China through Pakistani Trials.

Also, if I remember right, T-84 had first three layers of it’s armor removed to fit Duplet.
I think T-80UD has… 5 layers? So that’s 2 inner layers left? 🤨

Yeah, it has only 2 layers left because of how thick Duplet-2M is
