the air fields also are not on the map until you fly near them. you can’t see them or the guns, you can’t see the AI planes firing at you, you can’t see the ships firing at you, and if you just so happen fly near the CVL anti air, it will kill you. If you played top tier you would know that. If the map has clouds or smog, you will not see anything and are FORCED TO FLY LOW.
Your title says you’re complaining about the Aardvark but your post is complaining about Air Realistic Battles gameplay.
Which is it?
yeah i do stuff like this , but it would be much easier if we could create marks on the map. Most other games i play let you do that. or atleast have the name of the bases for the bomb release settings on the map above the map.
This plane is an unfinished product in game. It can’t jettison it’s outer pylons to go faster like it could in real life. The missile loadouts aren’t as well.
I feel you, brother!
I got already a suggestion about this in the old forum, and will continue to fight for a better solution for this.
It’s not ideal, but you can bomb a base that’s close to an airfield.
-You have to come in low, like real low.
-Choose an angle that will allow you to spend the least amount of time close to the base.
-When close enough, pull up just enough to get a visual bearing on the base, and drop your bombs ASAP.
-Quickly get back as low as you can and duck and weave as you fly away from the airfield.
By staying low enough the missiles won’t be able to hit you. Sometimes it might take a couple passes to get a visual location on the base, and reconfigure yourself for a successful bomb drop.
In RB, no SAM missile will touched me, if i fly accordingly to defeat them,… same is possible in SIM as The maneuver i use are extremly basic.
The AA Guns are set to fire on your next point when flying the same turn, therefore if you change slightly enough your path every 2 seconds (approx.) The SPAAG system is unable to aim at unpredicted path and have to adjust it’s firing in between sprays.
So, dodging missile by wide maneuvers (keeps speed) until being in range of guns because SAM starts to have trouble to fire at you when you’re right over airfields (too fast moving for missile enveloppe)
I can literally fly through an ennemy airfield, while flying between 100m to 1500m of altitude.
Maps are always the same :
Same location for every bases (in EC only 5 of those are active but there might be 10 to 14 different locations used but those are always the same → planification is possible → flying high is therefore possible (by headings and altimeters, you can go through clouds to an unmarked possible target, then dive while closing on to spot and destroy)
Same works with CVL’s,… the Guns are using same theory than SPAAG airfields → they’re more guns and fire a bit more in spread = adjust your maneuvers to be outside of the spread each 2 seconds.
That will make you fly in Z paths, but it’s currently the best way to avoid ANY SPAAG type defence.
(And you’ll know that if you were testing the game more,… as it works the same for EVERY BR and game modes)
And over 5km altitude Airfields do not fire.
Squad up with someone playing russia, problem solved.
it still doesn’t address the f111a cant be played in air rb. I don’t know who made the change to remove air spawns and put bases farther away. They obviously don’t play air RB
That’s how ARB is right now, people bring bombs on fighters for easy score. Whoever gets there first wins.
It’s a bad choice meta-wise, for sure. But even with minimal 1-base load, it’s still a race to the base.
Waiting is possible, but the match will be over before the bases respawn, which is the core issue.
I dont get the rest of your post.
The principal issue is that the ARB gamemode hasn’t adapted to any of these changes.
The bases are still at the same place whether you’re flying a B-17 or a F-111A.
I’m not complaining about the F111A, im lamenting not being able to use any bomb load other than the lightest one. Since anything more would slow me down and let others bomb the bases before I get there.
Definitively complaining about ARB.
It’s about decision making,…
Yeah it would be really nice if maps were larger and we had more targets to engage with.
To justify this though they’re going to need to enable respawning so battles don’t go on for ages.
Then I don’t see what the problem is. No matter how you balance the 'Vark you’re going to have the issue of there being too many base runners and not enough bases. I mean even if there was no speed penalty for the 'Vark with a full load of bombs, you’d just be racing other F111’s with full bomb loads trying to hog up all the bases.
The issue is that the game is not made for bombers. You’re supposed to be doing PVP but Gaijin knows that they can’t put bombers in the game and demand that they go 1v1 against fighters, so they put a sprinkling of free points on the ground for you to fight over before you get farmed. This thread, like many others in the same vein, is a complaint of one of the symptoms of Gaijin’s game design problems rather than the problem itself. The main issue at hand is that bombers have no place in the game as it is right now, and are relegated to being tech tree grinders or curiosities that hardcore players get to experience some of the more obscure vehicles in the game.
I noticed a lot of bases are wedged between mountains or behind mountains. It’s a real challenge to drop bombs on them even in ideal conditions, much much more when flying low.
Your suggestion is what I try to do, minus the real low flying due to bases being in awkward positions.
Unfortunately what usually happens is that a fighter turns around, dives me, and shoots me down with a missile or catches up to me and guns me down. IR missiles don’t seem to care about altitude?
If only the F-111 had a unique capability among aircraft in game to tell you when IR missiles are being fired at you and to deploy CMs
- No one can do it before F-111
- Bombing bases is a crime
- F-111 is the best fighter of 10.3 and can fight against 11.3
MAWS? It does have MAWS.
