would not be right to alter the product heavily after sale
considering other planes can get countermeasures that are compatible with air frame i dont see why mig-21bison can’t also get it.

Everyone really thinks R-27R are some kind of super weapon when even the R-24R are faster and have less drag than the 27R. I can hit 20km+ shots with the R-24R all day with the MiG-23MLD. Im lucky to hit anything beyond 10km with the R-27R especially when attempting to joust while missiles like AIM-7M, AIM-7P that hit around the same speed but have less drag once the motors burn out.
Not to mention the IRCCMs have been nerfed with FOV Gatewidth being the most effected R-73/R-27T/R-27ET can be 1 flared from less than 1km away as long as it dispenses in the right location with afterburner off. So they aren’t exactly the threat they used to be, especially when compared to the AIM-9M and AAM-3 that are substantially much more difficult to avoid.
Here’s a simple comparison of AIM-7P/AIM-7M/AIM-120A/PL-12/Derby and the R-27R for those who may not believe what we are saying with all launch parameters present for clarity. This graph clearly shows the R-27R is not superior in time to kill compared to 7M/7P with all missiles hitting at about 8.4 seconds of travel and 7P reaching the target slightly faster than both, but not a conceivable amount (.02s) while the Fox-3s having a significant advantage over all three SARH missiles. So to say these missiles are over performing on this airframe, especially only getting 2 of them compared to the 4-6 found on Western aircraft, just doesn’t make sense.

That is my experience as well. Just from missile’s energy standpoint hot-aspect shots at 10+ km are suboptimal. For cold aspect its more like 3.
I also recall playing around in statshark with 27T and finding out that by range its basically identical to R73. I imagine 27R is ever so slightly better, but thats about it.

Yes. It has access to the best 12.3 SARH and the best 12.3 IR missile that is able to be mounted on a supersonic platform at that BR.

Also don’t forget about its crappy avionics that are the best at 12.3 too, also very crap.

Calling Aim-9M difficult to avoid is truly wild.
He did say they are more difficult to avoid than gatewidth, which is usually the case except for the rear aspect. You are nitpicking his wording out of context
