Step 1
i hope this cope post is referring to the M2K-CS5, because magics are better than R73s in almost every scenarios except for maybe HOBs low speed launches, the 530Ds are about on par/maybe slightly weaker than the R27Rs (in the end both are pretty useless unless you find yourself in a full downtier, which is unlikely considering the nature of 12.7 and its premium horde), the mig21 airframe is an utter joke when compared to the dorito and no the marginally better radar and hms could never make up for that. Also the dorito gets MAWs, which is pretty nice to have ig? I really don’t see how the Bison is supposed to be an issue while the M2K apparently isn’t?
Hello all please remain on topic and respectful towards others, take issues and such revolving personal matters into DMs.
Thanks.
R-73 is not a worse missile because not only the HOBS performance, it also has more range. In the case of the bison it can also be slaved with the HMD which is neat.
I can see why you argue the Magic 2 is better because of the higher acceleration, which in practice helps it get closer faster and thus having better chance to ignore flares because of the distance to the target. I see them as sidegrades. If you talked about the PL-5EII instead, maybe I would agree because it’s even faster than the magic 2.
530D is definitely worse than the R-27R because it lacks IOG and datalink, plus it’s paired with a far worse radar on the Mirage 2K that only works in High PRF PD mode, much easier to notch than the medium PRF all aspect PD radar from the MiG-21 Bison.
Having used the R-27R recently at 13.3 when stock grinding with the MiG-29SMT, I find the R-27R about as useful at 13.3 as the 530D is at 12.3
The Mirage 2k is a good jet at 12.3, but the Bison is also very good, having a considerably superior loadout due to the SARHs it has and better avionics.
I think both are an issue, the Mirage 2k went up to 12.7, and now it got back down, because 12.7 is a mess of balance because of gaijin lack of common sense.
The M2K was very good at 12.7 before gaijin started screwing up and compressed it even more by putting there jets like the belgain F-16A and the squadron F-16A OCU (they sucked at 13.0 because compression, but that doesn’t justify putting them at 12.7), then moving the F-15A/J down which is even a worse decision. Also they decided to add R-73 to the yak141 but left most other 12.7s in the dust.
Now the 12.7 standard is very different, and BRs around there are more compressed than ever. Which means it is also hard to justify putting the bison and the M2K there as is.
totally agree here, but the overall identity of the magic 2 just fits the mirage better. I like to think of it as the magic complementing the mirage while the bison crutches on the r73s. Horrid airframes like 3rd gens with modern missiles or even attackers with said modern missiles will always be incredibly hard to balance, especially when the amount they carry is so incredibly limited ( you take away the 2 missiles, now what do you have left?)
from personal expirience they’re very similar, you can lob a missile early on, 50/50 if it connects or not, and then you’re mainly stabing it out with IR missiles and guns. In this regard the dorito is superior imo, simply due to the airframe and the speed you give your 530D, on that note my 530Ds usually get defeated by notching, because of the stated weaker radar, while the R27Rs usually get kinematically defeated, in the end both yield roughly the same result.
As for the 12.7 balancing and so on… lets not go too deep into that… it’s an utter joke (mig29s vs Su27s at 13.0, F15s at 12.7, Su30s being 13.3, just to name the worst offenders) anywho, i apologize for me lashing out a bit earlier that was unbecoming.
Kinematically, they are roughly the same, tracking wise, there is no comparison. The R-27R wins by a landslide. Good luck trying to connect a 530D in side aspect, like accidental short notches by random turns or in rear aspect shots(as if the m2k radar could even find and then keep a good lock in anything but high closure targets)
The R-27R works better than any IR missile in rear aspect, unless your target is skimming the ground, or hovering.
IOG and DL are also massive improvements, saying the R-27R and 530D are similar, it’s like saying a AIM-7F and AIM-7P are similar.
Don’t worry you’re good.
missile wise I’d never claim that, this is purely in regards to performance with the given platform, and once again just my personal expirience and opinion, not claiming anything as a fact just tossing in my 2 cents on the issue. The R27 is obviously far superior to the 530D (the 530 family in itself is horrid), but all things considered, using those 2 side by side in ARB matches on said planes they yield me roughly the same results (i most of the time don’t get to use the second R27 in the furball because either everyone is already dead or i got touched by a 4th gen airframe, same goes for the 530 which sometimes works against slow attackers in downtiers but other than that it’s unusable rear aspect or close up in general)
yeah no there’s worlds between those, but a similar ish arguement would be that an F15E 7M and an F18 7P are roughly similar in yield
Originally, you only referred to the missiles:
That’s why I kept explaining the R-27R is superior, regardless of platform.
Anyhow… I already expressed myself that both the bison and the m2k are too strong for 12.3, the F-18A also fits in the same bag.
Not much can be done with the current compression, though.
