The Israeli Coastal Fleet Techtree

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to suggest a Coastal Fleet Techtree for Israel

Let’s first clear some things up and explain some stuff about this techtree.

Why Israel?

This is something I’ve heard multible people ask me already when I was researching like crazy into the Israeli Navy. And the awnser is, because they are very obscure and on the English side of the internet barely anyone talks about this. I do love researching and writing posts about things (Especially naval vessels), so the Israeli Navy was a perfect topic to shine some light on.

In War Thunder Israel is not exactly seen as a very unique Techtree from what I hear of various people of the community. Giving them a Naval Techtree certainly bumbs up the uniqueness. I mean, have you ever even heard of a big game like War Thunder having an Israeli Navy of all things?

Why a coastal techtree?

Well that is because a Bluewater Fleet won’t be possible. Israel has only operated a grand total of three destroyers. These being a Type I Hunt-class Destroyer Escort, and two Z-class Destroyers. When you look at these destroyers they are very mediocre vessels. With them sitting at a BR of around 4.0.

So as much as I would love a Bluewater Fleet for Israel, that simply won’t be possible with only three ships that qualify for set Bluewater Fleet.

Instead the three destroyers are added as the top tiers for two of the three researchable lines in this techtree.

Isn’t the Israeli Navy very modern?

Israel’s Admission to the United Nations only happend in 1949, so compared to the other Naval nations ingame Israel is indeed a modern nation. But because of that fact I have decided to completely leave out any guided missile ship Israel operated. With the future of guided missiles in War Thunder’s Naval gameplay being a complete mystery I thought it was best to make the techtree work without any guided missile vessels.

Luckily for us Israel bought many old WW2 Era vessels in the 1950’s. So this techtree has many WW2 era vessels in them that are not equiped with modern weapons either, so this tree is just like any other ingame!

And don’t worry, even without any guided missile ships this Coastal Techtree is still on par with other Coastal Techtrees already ingame!

Special thanks to @yoyolast for helping me with translation and source gathering for this techtree.
Special thanks to @nathanclawfish for identifying some of the more odd weapons used on some of these ships.

Without further ado, let’s dive in!

And there you have it! Quite a unique little techtree if you ask me.

Be sure to give your votes in the poll above, and comment down below what you think of this techtree. And if you have any ships you think I missed do let me know!

Also at the beginning of this post, this techtree has a big focus on WW2 era vessels. That means I did not include some of the more modern small craft, or larger missile boats.

Just to shine some light on those not present in the techtree I wanted to put them down here in a spoiler so people can still see them and create their own opinion whether or not they should be added to the techtree.

I used many different websites and pages to put this together so I will sum them up here incase you want to read for yourself:

I hope Israel expands its trees and I think the addition of this tree would be a great help. good job

+1 a coastal tree for Israel would be awesome!

You can add tools that were not put into service in the Israeli Navy but were manufactured in Israel or tools that were modified and sold to other countries. In addition, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible to add a small blue navy tree

Adding ships to the techtree that weren’t even in service with that Country doesn’t make much sense. For example the Japanese battleship Kongō was built by Vickers in Britain. That doesn’t mean Britain should have the Kongō added to their techtree, that makes no sense. The country that paid and operated the vehicle should get it, so for this Israeli techtree I’m only keeping Israeli operated ships.

About a Bluewater fleet, that won’t work when the entire techtree would only consist of 3 destroyers.

Let’s make it happen, Gaijin! Right after the French coastal tree ;)

A quick question to the OP: Do we know anything more about the camouflages Israelis used? I feel like this would help Gaijin.

No no no, please don’t. It’s a non-starter. Besides - there’s zero need for that. We have more than enough vessels here for a quality coastal tree. Why would you want to steal vessels from other nations? Makes no sense.

The camouflage patterns I have seen are these:

God forbid steal, there is no theft here. I am saying tools that belong to Israel, they were manufactured in Israel, they simply did not enter service in the Israeli Navy, this is also common in other countries in the game, for example the mouse tank did not enter service, but it is in the game

But the Maus was built by Germany and tested by Germany. There is a big difference there. Israel makes certain ships for other countries, but does not operate them themselves.

In fact, to be more precise, these are ships manufactured in Israel, mostly to be used by Israel, and after they have been tested and found to be suitable, these are sold because the maritime industry in Israel is not large enough, and in any case the carriding and the production is Israel’s You don’t expect that when you tag each country there will be a tree of individual models in the game and for that reason such countries are attached to other countries already in the game. I think a good example of this is the Argentina tank attached to Germany, Because it was originally based on a German vehicle, and the only difference, on the other hand, in our case, is that the ships are actually manufactured in Israel, if you want it so much then a premium. Is this explanation detailed enough? And another small addition regarding the Argentine tank: its upgraded model is also produced by an Israeli company, so it is possible that if Israel was in the game at the time, they would have added it to Israel, even so, the general appearance of the tank is similar to that of Israel. And through the back, in my opinion, it is possible to add to all models of this type of a guest country in a foreign tree a flag cut in half, half of the flag of the country whose tree is its own and half of the country whose specific model

I do understand what you mean. But my suggestion is for an Israeli Coastal Fleet so I’m not going to add ships of other countries to this tree.

All the ships I’m talking about are relevant to the navy close to the shores Israel has always been concerned with coastal defense and not long distance attack like in blue waters. So I will ask it differently: where do you intend to put those vessels that you do not want to put in Israel’s tree even though they are Israeli vessels? Because giving each country its own little tree of one or two models is not possible. Maybe it will be possible to add them as a premium or an additional tree inside Israel like South Africa in the British tree for scraping, the last one was bad in my opinion

I see no need to add them since the techtree is already nice and big as it is. The tree has a nice combination of small torpedo craft, small gunboats and larger frigates at the higher ranks.

My idea to not include guided missile ships will change when we see them in the game on a larger scale.

But adding more patrol vessels like seen in the Unused vessels folder is just not needed right now. Besides the small weak nature of those vessels combined with full auto weapons make them annoying to balance

Well, I won’t continue the discussion that took place far beyond what I thought, but I will also point out that I see a certain option to expand the navy into green to blue waters beyond the coastal defense tree, at least in the first levels. If we make a slight change in the list, therefore, in addition, we can also use the shipping companies we are talking about

What vehicles are you referring to? Only one i have off the top of my head is Shaldag-class patrol boat - Wikipedia

I just understood what you asked and in what context I already sent several messages

Nerali because I understood what you mean. I’m talking about ships like for example Saar-72 and Saar-64 and the like that can be attached

so one that has not even been agreed to be produced, and the second which i cant find with a google search?

Not a single reason not to add this at some point in the future. Ofc they have to finish up with France and then do Sweden.
