It does tho, cause its literally written there. And it shows you once you select AAMs. Schindibee shown you that example.
Well it literally does by definition lol
If you show unselected and selected weapons, you don’t know which one selected by just glancing at the HUD and looking for a weapon name
You actually have to find the indicator character first then read the name on the same line
Whereas if you only show the name of the selected weapon … Well you directly just look at what weapon name is shown … There will only be one …
I have never attacked you I asked if you was using default key binds with the idea of setting said key binds to fit your play style then you started telling users they are wrong.
What a funny topic.
Op asks for clarification regarding hud.
People actually point out how it works.
Op calls everyone wrong.
By attack I was referring mainly to the other two users that instead of actually thinking about was it being said and actually testing the behavior in the game with various aircrafts and relevant loadouts, directly jumped to question my “eyesight” and “braincells”.
Your question was pointless to ask and to answer
How does which button I use for weapon selector affect how the weapon name is shown on the HUD?
That’s why I asked if you actually read the first post …
The post is simple:
Only show the name of the selected weapon, instead of showing the name of selected and unselected weapons.
So that you can see what weapon is currently selected by taking a glance at the HUD and directly read the weapon name that is shown.
Instead of first finding the indicator / or > character then moving your eyes to read the name that is shown on the same line.
There’s literally no benefit to showing the name of unselected weapons.
@Schindibee argued that there is, and I showed him with screenshots that there isn’t … The “benefit” that he thinks the current system has would be the same even if they hide the name of unselected weapons.
Want to see another pointless question?
The whole thread is about “weapon selection”.
And the “critics” ask me if I use the “weapon selector”.
It’s both funny and frustrating at the same time …
There are 3 main changes I would love to see for Weapon selection
-
Weapon selection to have a more logical order and for the order displayed in the top left to be in the same order as the selection order (My suggestion for this is here)
-
A2A and A2G mode selection, Being in A2A mode would limit you to A2A weapons only and A2A radar and cockpit modes. A2G would do the same for A2G weapons and modes. I have major issues when cycling between a load of weapons in the heat of battle. (I need to write this suggestion at some point)
-
A greater degree of control over the UI configuration, there is currently no options for the weapons panel (or pretty much everything else) and there really should be a greater degree of options like:
- All names shown
- Only current weapon name shown
- No names shown
- completely off
and whether or not multiple weapons of the same type are stacked or not (like taking 2 different sizes of GBUs)
These are 2 examples of UI configuration options I want and Why oh why we have pitiful UI configuration still is beyond me.
these changes would make the weapon selection system SOOOOOOO much better to use
I’m posting literally screenshots from the game showing it doesn’t work how they think
But I guess it’s more fashionable for everyone to just jump on the bandwagon of calling the person who actually knows what he’s talking about stupid …
Yeah and?
There’s no “green highlight” in the game lol
Yes, you can tell which weapon is selected by the slash / character, and I already explained that in the first post
I’m saying if they hide the name of unselected weapons and only show the name of selected weapon like I showed in the modified screenshot in my first post, you wouldn’t have to look for the slash / character and then read the name on the same line.
You could just directly read the name of selected weapon.
So instead of three steps:
1- Fishing for a small character in a wall of text
2- Moving your eye to the right on the same line
3- Reading the name of the weapon
You could make it one step:
1- Reading the name of the weapon
I didn’t call you stupid . I hope it didn’t look like i did.
I do agree with you , it could be streamlined a bit ( that goes for most thing Gaijin-made ) , true there might have been some that hopped straight to “Haha stupid” , but 90% of the thread is trying in some way or another to help you.
Personally i dont have an issue with the system .
It does get a bit cumbersome when carrying more than 4-5 different weapons , but its not unmanageable .
I am showing you the selected missile and its name which you was saying it didn’t do
This would be terrible. You would lose all sense of what weapons are available (you would have to cycle through each one or disable weapon selection to see). And for what? A tenth of a second faster to find the selected weapon?
I am unsure if you are trolling or incompetent…
That’s why I asked you:
You either didn’t read the first post or you didn’t read it well enough
Because what you are trying to explain to me, I have already explained in the first post with screenshots and explanation
Heck … You are using my own screenshot …
But you didn’t bother to actually read the text right above it:
And to reiterate:
Of course it’s not “unusable” …
But you have to exaggerate a little when you want improvements … Hence “almost” in the tittle …
I have showed you what is selected and the name of the missile you was saying it doesn’t show what is selected hence me using your own screenshot “I have left doesn’t tell me what missile is currently selected” it could be moved left your right but the way you went about it wasn’t
And you guys call me stupid and incompetent …
As your friends have already pointed out you could just remember what you took with you into battle :)
BTW you would still have the text telling you that you have “GBU + AAM + AGM” left:
Virtually no difference between this and what you have now in this sense.
Because the current system, even though it shows the name of unselected weapons, it only shows the name of one weapon from each category.
For example here I have both AIM-9M and AIM-120B, but only AIM-120B is shown (Because AAMs are not selected):
So it doesn’t tell me all types of AAMs that I have left … It essentially only tells me that I have at least one kind of AAM left …
And if they remove the name of the unselected weapons and only leave the categories (AAM, GBU) like the first screenshot, you would still be able to tell what kind of weapons you have left (AGM + AAM + GBU). So virtually no difference or downside in this sense …
I think the one who replies without actually testing how the interface behaves in the game, is the “incompetent” one …
What is the reason all of your screenshots omit the character ‘>’ on the left of the selected weapon? This character makes it incredibly easy to see the selected weapon. Do you have an error in you display that makes the left side of the screen cut off? Or are you purposefully omitting it in order to invent false evidence for your opinion?
It does not make a difference
Whether you look for > or for / you still have to first find the character then move your eye to read the weapon name on the same line
Whereas if they hide the name of unselected weapons you could just directly read the name of selected weapon
Again, I challenge you to provide a benefit to showing the name of unselected weapons …
Just to be sure. You can imagine such confusions often arise.
I’ll give you that one, yes. But, as I also mentioned, I assume it’s a question of balance. If they indicate both (or several) it would be something like this:
AAM 3 AIM-120B 1 AIM-9M
Which is more cluttering than:
AAM 4 AIM-120B
You’re right that if unselected, having the additional info like this would be better:
AAM 4 /3 AIM-120B
…so you see that you have two types of (unselected) AAM’s with the 120’s the last one you selected.
A viable solution could be to abbreviate where possible, like:
AGM 2 65D, 2 65G
AAM 4 120B, 1 9M
Or - my preferred dream variant - actually model the indicator correctly as in the respective cockpits.
I have no idea if this was previously mentioned in the thread, but the current HUD design is actually somewhat decent . Sure it takes up screen space however this clutter serves a crucial role.
In the absence of the secondary weapon selector, whatever munition name is next to the category is the default.
Your compact idea is also very nice , but thats just my opinion.
In a perfect world , if this were to be implemented, we should be able to change between a legacy and updated format.
