I was fighting against people trying to put it at 14.7,
but that’s an honorable death.
Actually that’s what I was wanting, because it was a well performing tank that doesn’t deserve an uptier. Making it a rare tank, like the Maus, Tiger 10,5 make it still enjoyable while not more game-changer because there won’t be 5 in a team in a couple years.
That’s the change I wanted.
This is where your logic fails.
The wooden mockup was for a different rejected design, it’s also misinterpreted quite a lot in the “Prototype” in War Thunder to the point that the in-game design is just impossible.
Though for the finalized Ho-Ri design the cannon (specifically the later cast gun shield version meant to be on the final tank) and the five prototypes that were under construction are more than enough for it to count as an unfinished prototype.
Gaijin continues to care and change and balance these removed vehicles, all the same. Look at KT 10.5 and Flakpanzer. Hori may be getting sidelined out of the tree, but it’s not the end of its story.
It also used the Ho-Ri’s heavily armored gun mount, so I’d argue it’s still a Ho-Ri specific part and not the Ka-To
R2Y2 “V1” could actually come back permanently, but idk what the armament would be like. They set 1000kg aside for armament, but the heaviest bomb load it carries is 1x 800kg.
There was a partially built Ho-Ri tank. However it is very different and would be ~6.0.
Ka-To’s gun followed a similar, but completely independent development timeline. The two cannons were slightly different from each other. This also means we can get Ka-To.
Indeed. The Prototype has an unmodified Chi-Ri engine and therefore is not terribly mobile. 6.0 is where it sat for years before its general rarity caused it to not be played except by a handful of veteran players forcing its stats up. It’s got only 150mm flat plate which at typical WT combat ranges are easily perforated by common shells such as 90mm M82, 88mm PzGr39, 75mm PzGr39/42, 17-pdr APCBC, etc.
The Production is a special case, I agree on a 6.7 BR for the thing, but with the caveat that the thing you’re comparing it to, the Jagdtiger, is itself heavily overtiered.
Instead I would argue a much better comparison is the Object 268 which already sits comfortably at 6.7.
After the engine governor “selective realism” nerf the Jagdtiger has needed dropping down to 6.3 or even 6.0. I am dead serious. Mind you I feel the same way about putting the Ferdinand and Elefant down to 5.7, the Tortoise down to 5.7 (whether it one day gets its missing 32pdr APDS or not), the Black Prince down to 5.7 or even 5.3, the T95 down to 6.7, the IS-3 down to 6.7, the IS-4M, Maus, and E-100 down to 7.0, and so forth with all the other “rolling bunkers that can barely get out of their own way.” But of course, certain special individuals think I’m apparently “nuts” for daring to want heavy armor to actually matter when the platform is slow enough. Because god forbid they can’t carelessly pen everything they meet frontally with their fucking Jumbo 76mm Sherman nor shoot out the gun barrel of what they cannot pen…boo hoo…
Oh my!
Gonna grab my popcorn.

I got news for you…
I already know 😁
Some people’s general opinions on BRs are genuinely mental…
Oh well man. I have nothing left to say to anyone who can look at a slow armored brick whose whole purpose was “do not get frontally penned at all costs” and then say “but it must be frontally penned or crippled by every common opponent or its overpowered.” That logic is a disease and why the various rolling bunker tanks across all nations are in such a sorry state of affairs.
Out of sheer curiosity, how is it “mental” to see and play something that’s a slow, unmaneuverable brick with a ton of armor on its frontal arc and immediately deduce the moment common opponents can frontally pen or cripple it, it becomes useless?
I never understood the incessant “need” to frontally pen/cripple everything you can possibly see with the weakest possible cannon in the BR bracket. If you pick something with a weak gun that simply can’t, and you run into something frontally because you played like an idiot, you should suffer the consequences, should you not?
I refer to this as “but muh Jumbo syndrome” because any time a user (me or otherwise) dares to suggest giving an armored brick some badly-overdue relief someone else inevitably cries “what about muh fucking Jumbo in a full uptier?!”
These are the germans looking for their god tier armor to fall for stuff like this at top tier. Then come back to say it needs to be lower.
Not even remotely. I hold the exact same opinion if the slow armored brick in question would be American, British, Russian, German, French, Japanese, or anybody else.
If a T95 can be frontally liquidated even in a full downtier, or have its barrel frontally shot out by anyone its looking at, what exactly is it supposed to do to adapt when it has no mobility to adapt and maps force it into short range city clusterfucks all day?
I simply look at the Tortoise, Ferdinand/Elefant, Black Prince, and all the other “rolling bunkers” identically. Sure Germany has more vehicles of that type due to being on the defensive much of WW2, but they’re hardly the only ones in question.
If something throws away all its practical mobility and maneuverability for the sake of not being frontally penned, then why on earth would anyone proceed to tier it where most common opponents can still frontally pen it even in a full downtier AND defend the built-in cheat of barrel damage to the death? What’s even the point of its “armor” then?
Crippled can happen to ANY vehicle at ANY BR.
Your response makes no sense, and has zero explanation for the suggestion of lowering a vehicle with (200mm armor) + (gun that can pen 168mm at 30 degrees) down to 5.7 - where the Jumbo 75 and T1E1 90 sit. Or the IS1.
For rank 4 vehicles, Kills per death, Ferdinand is 3rd among TT vehicles. (Should be 2nd as I’m not sure why Statshark considers the Tiger 2 10.5 cm a TT vehicle…)
I don’t see any evidence the Ferdinand is struggling.
Isn’t it still on tech tree if you have it? My R2Y2s all stayed there.
They were created as a cheap means for defensive posture. Easy to produce and reliable in positions. Pushing with these even against infantry was a guarantee death sentence.
