Ho-Ri Prototype and Production too high

I love how you are saying that the ho-ri is destroying the BR when you have a 70% win rate on the BMPT btw.
With a k/d just over 2, it’s not that you are an awesome player that carries the team.

Never happened btw. Only the 3 germans and for the R2Y2… It’s complex. Airframe was completed and flew with a propeller (R2Y1) and 2 engines for it, and they wanted to put 2 mitsubishi Ne-330 inside (unfinished prototypes of the engines), so it is considered a paper aircraft.
But as for the Ho-Ri…
There is a wooden mock-up, and 2 different guns have been made and tested in the Ho-Ri project.

So it is meeting the criterias to be added for War Thunder.

" This is a reference page (page 165) titled “Experimental 105mm Self-Propelled Gun, HO-RI” — matching exactly what we discussed. Here’s what the Japanese text says, translated:

Development
It says the Ho-Ri was developed from the Type 5 medium tank Chi-Ri, and that two versions were designed: Type I and Type II. Both mounted a newly-designed high-velocity 10cm (105mm) cannon as the main gun, plus a 37mm tank gun as a secondary weapon.

  • Type I: engine room at the front, fighting compartment at the rear — this is the version shown in the wooden mock-up photo above the text (labeled “Experimental 105mm Gun Tank Ho-Ri Type I; wooden mock-up model”).
  • Type II: a “heavy tank destroyer” layout with the engine room moved to the rear of the hull instead.

The gun itself was designed by the 3rd Section of the 1st Army Technical Research Institute, and the hull/vehicle work was slated to be produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries — but the text states plainly that it was never completed.

Data table (translated):

  • Weight: ~40.000 tonnes
  • Crew: 6
  • Dimensions: Length 6.500m / Width 3.050m / Height 3.100m / Ground clearance 0.400m / Track width 0.600m
  • Engine: BMW-derived design, water-cooled V12, gasoline, 550hp @ 1500 rpm
  • Armament: 105mm long cannon ×1, Type 1 37mm tank gun ×1, Type 97 7.7mm machine gun ×1, 20mm twin AA autocannon ×2
  • Ammunition stowage: 105mm ×60 rounds, 37mm ×100 rounds, 20mm ×480 rounds, MG ×4,980 rounds
  • Performance: Top speed 40 km/h, climbing ability 2/3 (gradient), trench-crossing 3.0m, turning radius via pivot/gradual turn, operational range 200km"

If you read, it says, “most braindead CAS at 7.3”.

Reading is banned

Tbf 1 op thing doesnt justify other op thing. T58 doesnt make bmpt balanced and vice versa. Just like su39 doesnt make albatross fair.

The entire WT community when Japan gets a vehicle that requires more then 2 brain cells to deal with…

I mean god forbid you try to fight a casemate TD designed to fight front on by… I dunno, not fighting it front on or something.

this is the Ho-Ri

the gun was not UNIQUE to the Ho-Ri project, it was also meant for the Ka-To

bro went from looking for 5 tanks that can’t pen his hori to the hori getting removed the next day

The Ho-Ri and Ka-To were parallel, independent projects, but the Ho-Ri had a semi-automatic laoding system :the crew manually placed the shell into the chamber, and the machine then automatically rammed it into the breech, essentially automating only half the loading process. This was needed because the projectile was 123 cm long and weighed 30 kg.
Both weapons finished around the same time (May and Aug/Sept 1945). They converged on the same 105mm caliber simply because the Army had settled on it as the answer to Allied heavy tanks, not because one gun was reused between the two designs.
Breech were differents, and shells as well.

I don’t think the barrel is the same between the Type 5 and type 92 vs the Ka-To.

I was fighting against people trying to put it at 14.7,
but that’s an honorable death.
Actually that’s what I was wanting, because it was a well performing tank that doesn’t deserve an uptier. Making it a rare tank, like the Maus, Tiger 10,5 make it still enjoyable while not more game-changer because there won’t be 5 in a team in a couple years.
That’s the change I wanted.

This is where your logic fails.

The wooden mockup was for a different rejected design, it’s also misinterpreted quite a lot in the “Prototype” in War Thunder to the point that the in-game design is just impossible.

Though for the finalized Ho-Ri design the cannon (specifically the later cast gun shield version meant to be on the final tank) and the five prototypes that were under construction are more than enough for it to count as an unfinished prototype.

Gaijin continues to care and change and balance these removed vehicles, all the same. Look at KT 10.5 and Flakpanzer. Hori may be getting sidelined out of the tree, but it’s not the end of its story.

It also used the Ho-Ri’s heavily armored gun mount, so I’d argue it’s still a Ho-Ri specific part and not the Ka-To

R2Y2 “V1” could actually come back permanently, but idk what the armament would be like. They set 1000kg aside for armament, but the heaviest bomb load it carries is 1x 800kg.

There was a partially built Ho-Ri tank. However it is very different and would be ~6.0.

Ka-To’s gun followed a similar, but completely independent development timeline. The two cannons were slightly different from each other. This also means we can get Ka-To.

Indeed. The Prototype has an unmodified Chi-Ri engine and therefore is not terribly mobile. 6.0 is where it sat for years before its general rarity caused it to not be played except by a handful of veteran players forcing its stats up. It’s got only 150mm flat plate which at typical WT combat ranges are easily perforated by common shells such as 90mm M82, 88mm PzGr39, 75mm PzGr39/42, 17-pdr APCBC, etc.

The Production is a special case, I agree on a 6.7 BR for the thing, but with the caveat that the thing you’re comparing it to, the Jagdtiger, is itself heavily overtiered.

Instead I would argue a much better comparison is the Object 268 which already sits comfortably at 6.7.

After the engine governor “selective realism” nerf the Jagdtiger has needed dropping down to 6.3 or even 6.0. I am dead serious. Mind you I feel the same way about putting the Ferdinand and Elefant down to 5.7, the Tortoise down to 5.7 (whether it one day gets its missing 32pdr APDS or not), the Black Prince down to 5.7 or even 5.3, the T95 down to 6.7, the IS-3 down to 6.7, the IS-4M, Maus, and E-100 down to 7.0, and so forth with all the other “rolling bunkers that can barely get out of their own way.” But of course, certain special individuals think I’m apparently “nuts” for daring to want heavy armor to actually matter when the platform is slow enough. Because god forbid they can’t carelessly pen everything they meet frontally with their fucking Jumbo 76mm Sherman nor shoot out the gun barrel of what they cannot pen…boo hoo…

Oh my!

Gonna grab my popcorn.
