Thought instead of posting repeated gaijin pls in other threads, this might be worth having its own thread!
As gaijin have added the mechanic to split RB by game mode and have done so for other planes (Sea Vixen for example) I petition the snail/thought I would ask the community their thoughts on the 9.0 BR for the Marut.
Simply, the equipment the Marut lacks which other planes on this BR either have some or all of to assist them (+/-0.3 BR of it)
- RWR
- Air to Air missiles
- countermeasures - flares or chaff or both
- CCIP
- CCRP
- MCLOS missiles
- primitive TV guided/fnf systems
- AB engines for a quick escape/rebuilding of speed if under fire
In effect, the plane lacks arguably every single defensive and offensive system that normally justifies a plane having a GRB rating of 8.7 and above. While it is not alone in this and other jets around this BR could use some love too, they are older additions and gaijin said they would “get around to it” at some point IIRC. A new jet should be kept an eye on to make sure its reasonable for players.
When it comes to opponents, it will be heavily skewed into facing enemy SAM systems which it gets no warning of even being operational if they use radar to track, nor will it get any warning of any radar SPAA, especially those using proxy fuse ammunition and so the plane will not know that the missile/round knows where it is, until the plane is no longer where it wasnt and instead, spread across a 20km area.
When it comes to its own TT, you have the Scimitar at 8.7 with the same 4 ADENs with more ammunition, but also able to take sidewinders and bullpups, making it a much better ground attack plane at a lower BR and for only 0.3 above it, you have the Buccaneer with the same ability to mount sidewinders and bullpups, or go for the “nope to your zone” toss bomb system using CCRP.
On top of this, those wanting to use it with Indian vehicles for flavour/fun will have to heavily drag their Vickers mk1/Vijayanta up into 9.0 to have a thematic lineup.
So, just curious how others feel on the subject, personally I have been excited about the plane coming for years in hope and then when finally announced raring to go for it, but this BR just makes me think Gaijin wants to kneecap it at the starting gate. I also wouldnt be surprised if theres next to noone using it in GRB making it hard to “muh statistics” for gaijin right off the bat.
Air RB honestly, dont know what to think on that, given the major compression issues, wanted to focus on GRB where an obvious issue exists for the plane.
