Help With CCIP In Sim

I having two issues with dropping bombs in sim battles.

I am a complete novice in sim and bombing so be patient with me.

First, when ever I try to drop a bomb series, I get an error message saying “command blocked active weapons selector”. It will work if I deselect the weapon but what kind of sense does that make? You deselect the weapon to use said weapon? I’m having a hard time tracking that.

Second, CCIP stands for “constantly calculated impact point” but I have a very hard time finding the CCIP in the aircraft. All I seem to get is CCRP and a watered down version of CCRP, and both seem to drop automatically by holding the weapon release until over the calculated impact point.

The Buccaneer S.2 is a great example. In this video, the CC uses what I consider true CCIP to drop bombs on these ships (I queued the video for the exact part of the video) but for the life of me I cannot find out how to do it, all I get is the what I would consider CCRP where you designate the target, where the green dot is fixed (not moving as in the video), and you hold the button while the computer drops the bomb.

What am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’m about to bust a spring.

Some airplanes have terrible CCIP that need you to take a steep angle to be able to fully see it on your gunner sight.

By the way, talking about sight you should also bind a key for changing the sight mode and set it to bombs, usually it’s automatic by the moment you select a bomb.

Regarding the “command blocked active weapons selector” either is your angle, you most of the time need to be at level with the horizon and lower than 1.0 mach, when using multiple bombs set a key to ripple quantity with that you’ll be able to drop a lot of bombs in one run,

If none of these worked try to set a keybind for selecting secondary weapons if I’m not wrong and check if you don’t have CCRP enabled because it fully locks your ability to drop bombs at will, but if your plane have CCRP you could try it using as a method to boom and zoom bases using the map-built laser designator in a ground target.

I’ve already done everything you suggested.

Did you see the video? It seems to contradict what you say about the steep angle to see the sight?

At an almost level flight path the constantly calculated dot is visible at the bottom of the HUD.

Yes I saw the footage, thing is the CCIP doesn’t work like that for every airplane, using the F-4EJ ADTW for example, I always need to get higher then I point my nose down to be able to see the CCIP,

In the Su-39 I don’t because, either is weapon, which I believe it’s or the design of the sight, where in the F-4EJ ADTW is obstructed by the huge panels and in the Su-39 is easier to see what’s ahead.

Regarding your problem if you have any footage I could try to help but I’m not in-game at the moment to try to replicate and send you a answer.

Okay I understand it doesn’t work like that for every plane but lets talk specifically about the plane in the video.

How do you get the bomber in the mode he is using?

@Morvran youre the guy to help

There are 2 methods of dropping bombs.

Using “drop bomb” or “bomb series” and “weapon selection” with “ripple quantity”

It use to bug when you used them toegether, so they added a block. Disable weapon selection and bomb series will work or you can swap to using ripple quantities with weapon selection release multiple bombs

CCIP in game is just an aiming point, on aircraft like the Buc S2 this is a small dot in the HUD, on more advanced aircraft like the Harrier Gr7 or Typhoon, you’ll get a lot more symbology.

CCRP will automatically release the bomb at the right time when you set the aircraft up properly to do so

It also sounds like you are somehow accidentally entering CCRP instead of staying in CCIP

Here is a guide for how to use CCRP and also includes the settings needed to exit it as well

Yep :P

If Id hazard a guess, you need to change your cockpit sight mode to select “bombs” and make sure it isnt “bombs (auto)” That will give you the symbology seen in that video

Also, to double check, you arent running drag/retarded bombs right?

Especially dropping bombs. Did it almost exclusively for a year in Sim :P

I may have a few other questions but I wanted to come on and say thank you for the help.

I’m working through a few other things but your response helped tremendously.

My main problem was not realizing that “not selecting” bombs was by default CCIP. In the status window/bar in the top righthand corner of the screen, I thought a curser had to be next to bombs for it to work… just like missiles.

Once I realized that, I started making worlds of progress. I’m working may way through a few things and I may have a few more questions, I hope you will be gracious enough to help me some more.

Anyway I’ll be back shortly.

You should still get CCIP with bombs selected (>bombs) provided you do not have a bomb target selected: either selected on the map, selected by toggling the pre-defined targets, or selected by putting the sight over the target and marking it. If you have a target selected you get CCRP, even if you’ve already bombed that target. You need to deselect ‘mission bombing target’ by setting a key for that. If you were always getting CCRP when you selected bombs it seems likely you had a target selected.

Everything pretty much fell right into place once my hard head realized that selecting and cycling through the weapons mode works.

I think I’m good to go now with CCRP/CCIP.

The only problem I’m having now is that I can’t get ripple OR bomb series to work. I’ve tried every combination possible.

I tried CCRP with bomb series on. I tried CCRP with bomb series disabled and using the ripple.

I tried CCIP with bomb series on and the same with bomb series disabled.

Nothing worked.

I tried remapping my button for bomb series. I tried bomb series, bomb, and I think even secondary weapons and none worked.

I shows up on the status bar, and shows the number, but it won’t drop more than one bomb.

I’d strongly suggest to not use [Drop bomb] and [Drop Bomb Series], but instead switch to using the weapons selector ([Switch secondary weapons]) and use [Fire secondary weapon]. For this you will need [Switch secondary weapon] and to set ripple quantity, [Secondary weapon riple quantity].

what all does Fire Secondary Weapon control?

Everything?

Everything but A2A missiles?

Everything. It allows you to cycle through all weapons except guns (which would be primary weapons).

So no more botton for bombs, button for bomb series, button for torpedoes, button for rocket salvo, button for AGM’s, button for whatever else…

I basically have three buttons I need:

  1. …to toggle through weapons
  2. …to set riple quantity
  3. …to drop/fire weapons (and same button to start seeker of guided weapons)
Spoiler

I’ve always used the switch button but never tried the fire button.

I’ll do it today and see if it works for me.

The main reason I was hesitant about doing it is because I use the seeker button binded to the fire missile button and I was concerned it would interfere firing my other weapons.

But you say there is no problem doing that?

Exactly.

Example: I attack a target using CCRP with the Tornado:

  1. I select the target (by toggling through the targets or by marking it on the map)
  2. I toggle to my 6 Low Drag 1000 pounder bombs: Sight will automatically switch to CCRP/auto, if not I can toggle the sight to CCRP/auto
  3. I set Ripple Qantity to [S].
  4. I line up, and before the CCRP countown finishes, press and hold the Fire Secondary button until all the bombs dropped automatically

For IR-AAM’s:

  1. I select the Missile
  2. I press [Fire Secondary] to activate the seeker
  3. When the missile is locked and I’m happy with th parameters, I press [Fire Secondary] again to fire the missile.

(For SARH and ARH AAM’s of course select target using the desired/requider radar mode and softlock or hardlock it, depending on missile…)

For AGM’s:

  1. I select the missile
  2. I switch to the missile sight window
  3. I Aim the crosshairs, and press [Fire Secondary] to lock the desired point
  4. When the missile is locked and I’m happy with th parameters, I press [Fire Secondary] again to fire the missile.
