Typhoon DA2(Early/Late)
Trials and Demonstration Aircraft
Description
Initially equipped with RB199 MK104E engines generating xlb of thrust with full reheat. This somewhat limited flight performance but sadly the more powerful EJ200 engines were not ready for initial testing, therefore placeholder MK104E’s were used. The DA2 was then later retrofitted with the EJ200’s, where it was used as a flight testing aircraft for the RAF until 2007. Initially this variant did not field countermeasure systems or much of the advanced avionics now found on Typhoon, this aircraft was later upgraded to what is now known as the F.Mk2 where it recieved the ECR-90C and the avionics of the F.Mk2.

Even with the weaker engines it was able to reach Mach 2, quite the feat for a delta wing aircraft,

Typhoon F.2
Tranche 1 - Block 2 Aircraft
Description
Initial deployable aircraft with only Air to Air Functionality and More Primitive DASS software. Deployed only for QRH missions phase replacing the Tornado F.3.
Offensive Aids:

Radar - euroRadar ECR-90C, Detection Range of > 185km for fighter sized targets - > 370km against airliner sized targets.

IRST - PIRATE, detection and track of targets into BVR range, allows for Single Target Tracking(Incorportaing automatic target aquisition) and Multi Target Tracking(IRST TWS), FLIR display in cockpit or helmet and slaved target aquisition, range in the region of 50km all-aspect, 90km rear-aspect. 3–5 and 8–12 micrometre Bands are supported, able to track and prioritise up to 200 targets.

Datalink - MIDS, a jam resistant secure datalink system allowing for real time data transfer between aircraft and ground systems.

Full IFF capability.

Pilot HMD - Incorporated Voice Activated Controls and allows for non-line of sight target display, able to lock 2 Targets at once and designate target priority.

Defensive Aids: - In built Praetorian DASS

  • 360o RWR coverage between 0.1-40Ghz
  • Inbuilt LWR’s, covering the nose and tail
  • Inbuilt ECM
  • 360o MAW coverage between 32-38Ghz. Automatic countermeasure release is supported
  • Inbuilt Towed Radar Decoys(2), Leonardo’s Ariel Mk II TRD with a 100m cable able to sustain mach 2+ speeds and +9/-3G overloads, effective between H-J bands, Recoverable.
  • Inbuilt Countermeasures, 2 x BOL-510(160 Chaff/IR decoys each) + 2 x 55mm Elettronica Aster Flare Dispensers(16 large caliber flares each)

Life Support:

  • Full-cover anti-G trousers
  • Chest counter-pressure vest
  • Liquid conditioning garment
  • Full NBC protection

Armament:

Typhoon FGR.4
Tranche 1 - Block 5 → Tranche 3 Aircraft
Description
These typhoons were upgraded to give an effective air to ground capability, with the final goal of replacing the aging Tornado GR.4’s, they recieved the newest radar variant, with upgraded internals allowing for the use and carriage of Meteor BVRAAM’s. It can also carry a wide assortment of Air to Ground ordinance ranging from cruise missiles to laser guided munitions.

Offensive Aids:

Radar - EuroRadar ECR-90D, later intended to recieve the ECRS 2 AESA Radar. Improved upon the detection Range of > 185km for fighter sized targets - > 370km against airliner sized targets found with ECR-90C.

Ye it’s in the post; I will add that it’s data from iirc 1992, so the ECR-90C in service 15 years later is likely to have been significantly improved from what we have.

Btw using Flames data, and an equation off google(somebody will have to fact check me on that one), I got an RCS of EFT of 1.52m^2

Using this a substituting range in, and everything else as K, given in both scenario’s it should be constant.
RCS = ((75^4)x10)/(120^4))

This effectively works in the logic that R max is proportional to the 4th root of RCS

Applying the same math, gives an RCS of 3.5m^2 for Flanker, which is abit less than half that of EFT, as it says.

According to this, Flanker’s RCS < 10m^2 irrelevant of any calculations.

Seems like this would be an ECR-90A standard from this:

Slotback radar implies the early flankers, their RCS should be higher. This estimate is giving them a huge benefit of the doubt in RCS. Most estimates state 15-20m2 for the early Su-27 models.

I mean point being, whatever they have flanker in terms of rcs, it ends up with EFT being 1.5m^2.

As for ECR-90C, I’ve seen 160km @3m^2 quotes before, will try to find better numbers.

Can’t wait for Gaijin to implement this months after it should’ve been added, and in a broken state ensuring Britain continues to never have anything meta

We have had meta vehicles in the past. The Hunter F.6 dominated top tier for a fair while. When the Phantom FGR.2 was added it was objectively the best jet in the game and had a couple of revivals as the top dog (one of the only aircraft to get flares when they were first added, then one of the first to get SARH missiles, then the only jet to get a Pulse Doppler radar for a while). More recently the Harrier GR.7 was one of the best jets in top tier air RB until the AIM-9L nerf.

Good points, might just be being salty but just feels like the minor nations always get the short end of the stick
