…that’s why more bases would solve the problem. All the players who want to bomb something can do so at the beginning, and then carry on with the deathmatch.
SB has Modular Airfields
Which generate score/activity time when attacked, though you dont get base kill bonus and it doesnt do any ticket damage
War thunder does not like easy grinding though.
True. It’s a pretty annoying limitation though, especially for the players who fly slow movers in supersonic games.
If you fly a-10, i would wait atleast 1-2 minutes on airfield, so the base can regenerate before you get to them
I don’t know about top BR. I just decided to do the 8th star with grinding the squadron A4. So I bought it and started playing. Of course I went for bases at first. And as it was obvious that everyone and his mother was bombing bases, I often just sideclimbed and waited upstairs for bases to come back. That usually worked rather well, match ended once with bombs falling still. As the A4 early has no CCRP, droping from high is a bit difficult.
Advantage is, that you get good RP for 5 extra minutes game time IF you actually kill a base and some AI.
Oh shit, sorry my fault.
I don’t know if it’s viable tbh, since by the time you take off, since it will only work if your team has managed to kill most of the enemy. If the other thing has happened then half the enemy team will be out look for the last few players and you’re the easiest target in town.
I also did not notice.
I’m not sure if this is completely true.
I notice that matches with a lot of airfield spammers end very quickly. It appears to me, that collective Mission points by the team all contribute to ending the match. Whether these mission points come from kills, completed objectives, bombed bases, or airfields doesn’t seem to matter.
I could be wrong. But that’s the impression that I get.
I thought they disabled ticket loss via AF damage because those botters were ending matches really really fast. Perhaps they turned it back on but at a lower rate. But its tricky to know. Like activity time, I dont think there is an official (or even unofficial) list of what each action does. (I.e how many tickets are lost from a base kill) and what affects tickets. Because some matches seem to end really fast and others seem to drag, even though the overall activity in both was about the same
I think airfield modules are worth more tickets than bases and loss of a whole airfield is likely even more damaging to tickets. So, while bombing an airfield doesn’t earn your team the same bonus as knocking off a base per sortie, it might make more sense if you fly enough sorties and/or have enough help in killing a module.
A while back when we still had Air Superiority points, I noticed bases yielded 3000 points (ie a 300 ticket loss to the enemy); IIRC airfield modules gave 7500 points (750 tickets) when the module was turned black. However, sometimes you didn’t get that bonus (bug with the map, a particular session… who knows?). Just like some modules repair themselves over time (as the original devblog says they should) while other times they don’t and they’re soon destroyed.
Ah that is possible, the act of damaging no longer affects tickets, but destroying one (which happens a lot with a lot of farmers) affects tickets
One of the modules is responisble for repairing the others so if that is damaged or destroyed they might not do anything.
Though it does seem to come in waves, and not passive, did have an AF that was mostly destroyed and then it was fully healed nearly instantly about 15-20 mins later
In my opinion- and how I do it - calling a base is simply for situational awareness and planning. There is no such thing as “base stealing”. Noone owns a base until he kills it, nooone owns a kill until he’s completed it.
And of course any action/reaction that are against game rules (TK, chat offenses,…) are forbidden and no frustration because someone else beat you to your target justifies breaking those rules. Period.
Anyway, how do you guys call a base? Just ping it on the map?
What I do usually is also to also send a “follow me” radio message, because then the people looking at the map see both my and my intended targets position and can estimate if they’re closer (and should call the base as well and their position, to let me know they’re there and aiming for the same base), or if they shouldn’t bother because I am closer.
Then of course there’s the matter of situational awareness: Also attacking a base one constantly needs to keep on the lookout for other players in the vicinity, especially around targets.
Situation I had recently: Denmark, me in a Harrier GR.1, a mile or two off to my side but slightly behind and slower, another Blue.
Obviously we were both heading for the same base, and maybe 30km out still. No other contacts visible.
He called the base, I called the base as well and confirmed my position. And he just veered off an went for another target.
No hassle, no problems.
Now should he have insisted on getting the base I was closer to and reaching faster than him, just because he called it first? Or even verbally abused or TK’d me?!?
there is generally too little choice of ground targets.
Another negative aspect is the race against each other to shoot down the recon plane. this doesn’t encourage team play.
the worst thing about it is Use Full Action. you have to do something every 15 minutes. that hurts the mode. they all jump around like hamsters. of 15 minutes pressure. that has damaged the soul of Sim EC.
he first step would be to finally abolish Usefull Action. then a clearer lineup in ww2 and cold. and finally the country sets urgently need to be revised. for example, it has not been possible for 2 years to form a German-British-American NATO team with my friends. that has destroyed our entire old squadron. …
and more ground targets.
I am in favor of personalized and general AI targets. I won’t go into detail here. but I’m sure it’s a good idea.
It’s a coordination between bombers. They fly high, slow and can do little more than drop one load per match. If during that drop the base disappears below them, their entire spawn is wasted.
I have good success not even thinking about rewards. I just do what I do and let the chips fall. People be stressing themselves out worrying about the outcome, instead of concentrating on just playing the game.
Thinking about min/maxing every 15 minute interval would drive me crazy.
Well, I’ve yet to play a match where I didn’t get any useful actions at all. Mostly I get the highest possible amount out of it, but then playing mostly CAS and bomber, that’s quite easy.
It’s more of an issue (but still a small one I find), when playing fighters, as you spend more time “on the hunt”, and if there are no targets to be found, you may RTB empty handed…
We both know it’s not a team-oriented game.
Teams are just enemies in blue that you lose SL for killing.
Doesn’t and won’t ever stop people. What everyone does is up to personal choice.
Best way to grind the extreme events afaik rn.
