Calling a base does not mean it's yours

I prefer the old forum where everything wasn’t just dumped on the front page.

Real. The drag race to bases is more fun than getting the SL imo lol

The only time I get annoyed is when im in something like the Tornado. I call a base when on relatively close, i.e about 2 minutes out. If that. I make my attack run, I loft my bombs to avoid SPAA and then someone zooms in and takes the base at the last second whilst my bombs are in mid air .

If they had called it 30 seconds earlier, I would have gone for another base, if they had said something, I would have gone for a different base. If i had any indication at all, someone else wanted that base, I would have diverted. But nope. they yoinked the base at the last possible second and all bombs are wasted because they were in mid air when the base was taken.

Just very very annoying and a little selfish at times. (and then people get annoyed when they just put bombs on an AF instead of bases which doent help win the match)

I used to care about who called bases back in the day, because it made sense. There would be four heavy bombers and there would be three or four bases, people who didn’t get a base could still bomb the airfield. It worked because everyone was roughly at the same speed, and because there could be rewards for people who ended up bombing the airfield, especially if it was destroyed. The only time there was a problem was in matches where heavy bombers and tactical jet bombers were on the same team, but usually you could coordinate it so that a jet bomber could hit the more distant base, since they would be able to bomb and get back in time before being intercepted.

The problem began when we started getting attack aircraft with airspawns which were fast enough to destroy or damage a base, and these players, and then once jet aircraft came around with the same amount of bombs as a WWII bomber, then it became pointless to call a base, since theoretically all 16 players on a team could be carrying enough bombs to destroy one or more bases, and it was a race to see who could get there first.

At this point, if I’m flying a plane faster than all others, I’ll just bomb a base and not tell anyone and ignore other players who might get there much later than me, otherwise I’ll loiter at high altitude and wait for the bases to respawn. This unfortunately has become a harder option since the dumb decision to delay the time it takes for bases to respawn.

Never felt comfortable lobbing bombs for exactly the reasons you describe.

Most of the time, if somebody calls a base that I’m close to, I’ll atleast ping the base and my location to let them know how close I am to it.

They ought to add more bases to the game to get rid of this needless problem, but you are right- base stealing isn’t a thing.

I’m totally fine with players retaliating for kill steals though.

Yep, and if they had done that, I would have no issue going to a different target.

Yeah, it can be annoying at times, but less annoying that wasting SLs due to a Gepard sniper

What they need, is different sized bases. A “heavy” base that requires maybe 4 or 5 times the amount of bombs to take out than a normal base, an overall larger target (in actual size) as well, but also more heavily defended (perhaps even Rolands at top tier) would make for a very interesting and dynamic target to attack, increase the value for Heavier bombers/strikers and give more targets for people to drop bombs on

No thanks, it’s already near suicidal to attack bases since it means you’ll be an easy target for other jets, there’s no need to make it even harder for what is likely to still be very limited rewards.

Honestly there should just be many bases around the map at the beginning of the match, it shouldn’t be an issue since destroying bases hardly makes a dent in enemy tickets, as used to be the case.

Using CCRP and lofting or dropping from alt makes attacking bases really easy. Still be normal bases too for anyone not wanting to do that.

People just need to learn to share. How hard can it be? Bases regenerate after 5 minutes.

It’s easy, if you’re quick enough to get there, otherwise you’re a goner., not to say that once you drop your bombs you’re still largely at a disadvantage.

It can be pretty hard to share four bases between more than four players.

Hard? Either you miss your bombs or wait until the base regenerates.

5 minutes in jets is a long time to be carrying your bombs around.

This being SB, that is fairly simple, the first 4 get the bases, the rest go and dump on an AF. Still rewards nearly the same.

Loitering around waiting for a respawn can be dangerous, especially at top-tier.

They need to add more bases or make the existing ones stronger.

Oh alright, I only play RB. Maybe I should switch to SB then lol.

Depending on your platform, either carry a/a loadout first or just wait. What else are you gonna do?

Most matches ended before the bases could regenerate.

I have been doing rocket bombing on 10.3 and for me, most of the time the matches have not ended and i have had enough time. Maybe they should reduce the timer for br’s higher than that, like 12.3
