Broken HUDs (+HMDs + Cockpit MFD Issues)

Unless there’s another I’m missing.

If you set it to relative control, it stays fixed. However, you cannot easily use it to peek over the nose then.

It also tends to break gunsights in WW2 props.

All directions actually, under “Camera” in the controls.

Holy moly! I thought that using a head tracker would disable all that.

Just as usual. Sorry for bothering but can you test out if they fixed radar gunsights for tier 5/6 aircrafts. I have too slow internet to download dev server.

No, works very well (at least with VR headset).

Sim start up for me looks like this:

  1. Engine on
  2. Canopy closed
  3. SAS on (if aplicable)
  4. Head position set (to front practically always so when looking down with VR headset I look onto my lap, not into my lungs, upwards on A-10, a tad to the left on Draken,…)
  5. Flaps set

Except that moving camera UP also slides the HUD projection UP, leaving good portion of the HUD panel empty.
As result, for example, CCIP on A-10 is useless because steep dive is needed to impact marker appear on the HUD.

But lets pretend that is not a problem…

That’s because all the HUDs and reflector gunsight models are just pasted graphic zones at incorrect view angles instead of active rendering spots for the entire head adjustment zone. Not as noticeable with the WWII-era aircraft, but once you utilize anything that is supposed to have ‘passive’ lead gunsights it’s substantial.

Can actually cross a few things off, at least partially.

Sea Harrier FRS1/FRS1e and FA2 have gotten their correct HUDs, but I would classify it as WIP not fixed at the moment, its missing some symbology and is tad buggy

Yeah when the update comes out i will mark the ones that have been fixed and implemented. At the moment it seems like only the Sea Harrier HUDs is the only thing fixed that I can see. However they are still missing some features so there might end up being some new reports unless those are fixed before the live server.

I set my prefered head position in VR by just moving my head, setting the new position to default, then returning to my normal seating position. Usually i lean down and back to do so, which when sitting back to normal sets my head position ahead and up.

Has anyone made a report about the JH-7As pilot view being incredibly low?

Also, I have an idea that could be added to fix the current issues like that, without breaking the HUD entirely. It would work by just moving the gunsight, and not the entire hud when you move the pilot view manually. Additionally, Gaijin could manually move the pilot view+gunsight up on every plane with this common issue.

Yeah someone made a report on that. Was closed and marked not a bug sadly

That sucks, because it severely limits the view outside the plane, as well as the view of the actual gunsight.

I don’t get how Gaijin can do that, and not consider it an issue or bug.

I think they do it because they want the cockpit view to be perfectly centred to the HUD. Honestly it might be a game limitation or something.

J-7D velocity vector is also hilariously wrong

Doesn’t work with head tracking. Seems to work with VR but not with head tracking. Which is ridiculous as them working in VR shows they’re not disabled by a technical reason but rather by a choice. Unfair advantage?

Would it be worth reorganizing Joshje’s list to include bug severity?
Some issues, like missing “ATA modes” or “elevation profile,” don’t significantly impact gameplay, while others—such as “dead zones, disappearing HUD after lock”—make the game unplayable.

This would help ensure that the most critical issues are fixed faster than minor ones. It would also give Gaijin a clearer understanding of what players find most frustrating and what would truly improve the game. I hope game master could help to pull the right strings to make this process even faster?

I’m happy to help OP on discord to include bug severity on the list and edit the original post.

I was thinking about bug severity but I thought it’s a bit objective. Some issues that I thought were very important might not be for other players so I think I will stick to organising them by what type of issue and what country the aircraft is in.

After the Hornet’s Nest update I will update some of the reports that have been fixed/accepted and any new reports that come of the update.

Honestly I doubt the tech mods look at this thread for bug reports to look at. Only reason some of these issue have been fixed or accepted is by asking a tech mod or CM directly to bump them forward to get them accepted.
