That picture looks like it has As.12 and AS.11 at the same time, that would be neat

Ohohoho, that would make SOOO many people mad, as it is a AA missile so you would have a 20 of them with no additional cost

Hopefully there’s time to add the M260 stabilised sight from the Wasp that normally comes with AS.12, to the roof of the Wessex

previously posted images

Very happy to see a new British heli getting added though!

Hello

We dont currently have this planned to my knowledge. Any and all photos would be appreciated so we can pass them on.

I just have the four images posted previously, and now found a couple more barely showing the sight from the opposite side, again with AS.12 carried

Ed:- couple more bad scans. Unknown source, but posted on a Wessex Facebook group

Imgur Album with all images I’ve got

The black and white one I posted earlier today is from the book Wessex by Patrick Allen published by Airlife Publishing under this caption

The book also has a full-size copy of the small photo I had of Wessex launching AS.12 at sea. Unfortunately the scan I have of the book (from Scribd) is crap on that page, but I suppose it’s handy to say where the photo can be found if anybody has a copy.
Wessex

The sight is also mentioned and pictured but not installed, in the modelling guide by Michal Ovčáčík and Karel Susa for 4+ Publication, which has been used as a reference for Wessex in various topics on the forum relating to the helicopter’s armament

As an aside, the French MoD have published a really nice video about the M260 sight’s operation:

Thank you.

Passed onto the developers for their review.

Is anyone able to briefly summarise the difference between AS.11 and AS.12 and why having both is a good thing?
Clearly bigger number =/= better.

AS.12 is a lager version of the AS.11 and has a longer range.

Why would you want the AS.11’s then? Or is your max 2x AS.12 and 2x AS.11? Or maybe AS.11 is more maneuverable.

Thanks.

Yeah it can only carry 4x AS.11 or 2x AS12+2x AS.11.
AS.12 doesn’t fit on the inner pylons

what different between M260 sight and normal one

Normal H-34 lack any sight.

M260 was the normal one for most early helicopters equipped with AS.12
Wasp, Wessex, Alouette III, AB.212ASW were all able to fit that sight in the roof when AS.12s were carried or for other observation purposes, but the sights were generally removed from the helicopter when they weren’t needed
Some later helicopters that equipped AS.12 like the Lynx Mk.2(FN) (the French one), Gazelle (in Egyptian service) and Sea King (in Spanish service) used the later APX M334
