Because most people have no idea how to Ta.
Once you learn (it’s not that difficult) it’s the best anti-CAS aircraft you can get, as you basically can shoot down CASsholes and go back to the same alt you started and almost nobody in Ground RB can dogfight anyway, lol.
The only thing is I am not a great flaps user, since 109s’ flaps always rips way too quickly.
Don’t worry, you’ll learn.
Takeoff flaps are super tough, landing flaps work below 370 IAS EDIT: actually it’s 400!. Combat flaps work at insane speeds.
You basically have to manage your energy vs turn rate.
F.e. in climbing spiral you want enough turn to evade guns while not losing too much speed so you actually end up with more energy.
Etc. etc. etc.
It’s very fun to learn.
Also throttle control is very important. You want to have more energy than your opponent, but you want your pass to be one and done more often than not.
So you adjust your speed, high yo-yo constantly, so you can slot behind your intended target.
Going balls-to-the-wall often doesn’t work and leads to enemy dodging repeatedly.
You go slower - and it’s an easy shot.
You need to be confident in your ability.
There’s also A TON of guessing the energy.
If you guess wrong vs a Spitfire - oh well. If you guess right, the end result - from spiral climb to landing flaps downward turn and quick kill - is glorious,
The guns are horrible, though.
I mean, they do nasty things to open-top vehicles, so there;'s that. I have a ton of kills vs M18, M36, Su-100P and similar vehicles.
Thanks for the tips.
Oddly enough I always preferred the 190s over the 109s.
I just kind of love the playstyle of them, while the 109s just felt out classed. Like you need to play them really well but even then the props you see will always have a advantage.
Dude, get out of here.
“Hmmmm yes I’m going to tell a veteran 190 pilot to leave the conversation about 190s”
Is this ragebait?
I am a veteran Fw 190 pilot. You are giving AI-style advice nobody asked for, and started it with “major skill issue”. Get out of here. The only “ragebait” here is your briliant “oh I like Fw 190, these scrubs have no idea!!!” comment.
But isn’t he right?
The real question is, is that enough?
I mean reversing someone is fine, but when you have to do it all the time because others will always end up in your six it’s not that amazing.
I do quite well in the 4.0-4.3 190s but can’t make the D-9 work.
Haven’t really used the A-8 or F-8 much but without their air spawn they would be completely outperformed.
He gave super basic advice started (with an added insult) that doesn’t change much in the bigger picture. I myself consider a lot of German aircraft to be painful to play, even if I am succesful in them. I routinely clean up people in D9, damn, last I checked I had highest D9 score in the business :P
But is D9 good and enjoyable nowadays? Well, to some extent in ground RB, but in general - if you’re not squadded, I do not recommend.
My advice will remain the same as usual: play Ta-152H and enjoy it, as it won’t last forever.
Regarding the A5 series - I consider them pure pain. And I can’t be bothered to deal with A4’s overheating. So congrats for doing OK in these, for me facing 4.0 Yak-3 is just too much.
For D9 there’s this awesome papagei-staffel camo, it helps you assert dominance. Out of all proper Fw 190, D9 is closest to “fun”, you can even try to dogfight some US planes + Tempests and Sea Fury.
And then 3 matches straight you face F4U4B and Yak-3U on the same team as Lf Mk IX Spitfire and you ask yourself “why am I even trying”.
Must be the skill issue.
Guys a quick remind to debate the topic not the user if you want to talk more about the issue you can move it to DM’s if not just leave each other alone !
Just asking what’s the maxed out turn time of Ta152H? Just from mods it should be 18.8 but realistically it’s 20.5, is this a bug?
Regarding the 190, A4 and A5 @Loofah, for some obscure reason they have a different flight model compared to the rest of antons. Good luck making a bug report since I doubt there is any historical document that compared the rate of the A-5 to the A-1 or A-8.
Is the MG151’s bullet drop worse than before,
or have my skills gotten worse? Which is it?
IDK haven’t had any significant change, although after playing 108s the drop actually feels better than before.
Maybe my skills got rusty from flying jets all the time…
Idk if it’s just me but I find jets infinitely easier than props in arb
It does.
I’m an RB, but I agree.
The progress of technology is amazing, isn’t it!
By arb I meant air rb. I’ve basically never played jets in arcade
