My thoughts are, that community misunderstood the conception of this change and were focused on “loses its unsinkability” but as i understand the change was not about “unsinkability” but about ship’s structural integrity rough simulation of “deck crushing in to ship hold”, “bulkheads” breaking in half and so on. That’s why sections damaged over the water level, that’s why HE made good damage to them. But community misunderstood a conception(cause nobody from dev side voiced it) and asked for tweaks, and tweaks been done first one - 3 sections instead of 2(and that i think is right), but nobody checked the last one where damage to structure decreased 10x times and section HP by 25% which gave us 7.5x times increased time to kill one section.
And here we are - all big ships now much more survivable than before patch even light cruisers live longer versus the battleships. For example here is my battle on stock Bretagne with HE only 25 mins of perpetual hits of light cruisers and 7138 dmg when 2700 points. I can’t say I’m truly enjoying this. Before this change with in similar match with same enemies i made at least 1.5 more damage with same points. Initial change were aimed to lower survivability not increase it. So how are you think about it you get what you asked in that poll [Feedback] Loss of unsinkability mechanics - #14 by Cepeleon
- Yes it’s fine
- No, it too much Scharnhorst live even longer now and all battleships live longer even cruisers vs dreadnoughts, tweak it a half or so lower.
- No, first iteration but with 3 compartments was right before structural x10 damage nerf
