I personally dont hate the arcade aim changes. You could see people crying in naval how they cant land a hit all the time and now it cant get much easyer. And if they wanna think about the aiming more play realistics then.
What really needs change from the last uptade are the AA of ships tho
getting shot at from 10 km since 3.7 by light AA is bit silly. It really makes planes completly useless- not like it was much easyer before
but now its just suicide to spawn with plane (not even talking about those mfs with quided AA missiles that made it suicide even before) - actually not just plane but also noticed all small boats get imidietly targeted by AA from absurd ranges and accuracy.
Almost like gaijin is getting their AA ready to introduce aircraft carriers and their air squadrons or something. XD
if you all so truly NAB fans go check some ideas for it, discuss with us vote for them, propose your own. All i see on com forums is proposals for new ships and they kinda worthless and do nothing for the mode itself.
I would have voted for #2 if it was limited to only battleships and cruisers. Currently destroyers, frigates and other small wessels get dark hull far to quick. So for now #1.
But otherwise I’d agree that somenthing has to be done with invincibility at top BR.
omg. Just dropped again in German Costal 4.3 and… there’s just NO TOUCHING Bluewaters. Everything is lazor beam spreads. Me410 picked out of air spawn 5s after dropping. Costal is dead. CRAZY that they’re letting this happen. No one was in lil’ boats. Everyone in DDs because nothing else survives longer than a couple seconds. This needs to be reverted.
do you expect 4.3 with a lot of costals? even before patch there was just 1-2 of them on a boats just to get closest point, why you expect difference after patch?
Do you know how many costals live at 4.3 - 4.7? Do you notice how many people are actively against this patch? Who abhor this change?
I could previously play with a Jaguar without immediately exploding. there is no opportunity to play. Before, I’d torp boats for fun.
I would regularly bring the 810 and 811 in to end tier games and win matches by removing threats. Just as the PT boats were designed to do. You can’t now.
Here’s my top used and best performing vehicles in ALL of War Thunder, in Every Mode.
Played about 15 matches at br 2.3 now. japanese boats. It is not unplayable, but it is getting pretty close. AI boats will random hit you with their 20mm from over multiple islands while in full cover. AA snipes on planes at 8km distance if you do not constantly maneuver. Fights whittle down to “whoever shoots first wins”. And large caliber guns are pretty much useless.
Also, the new aiming made shooting guns with restricted aiming angles a nightmare as you have no reference anymore of where the boundaries of the gun angles are.
This. It’s madness. You have no idea where anything is. No idea where it is going to go. You’re just… pointing at ships and being frustrated that you have no agency.
Naval arcade main here, was really worried about these changes and the least I can say is that is I no longer play naval in this state.
I used to love playing every kind of ships (BR 3.0/4.0 was à great mix, not too much overpowered destroyers, planes had their roles, PT boats could cap & torp things…).
Naval events were a celebration, plenty of naval battles, big skilled players rushing the task 1st day (with sometimes the massive amount of usual cancer lineups… 4.3 russian lineup / Scharnhorsts…) and that was so cool.
Not done so much naval battles since the update though, but I keep reading as much feedbacks. (and I’d like to thanks everybody here for this)
I’ll still play the game as I like Air mode too, but I’ve lost some confidence about Gaijin at this point, why couldn’t change the gameplay of everything after all and not only for naval… I’ve invested many time, premiums, learned tips, strategies, histories of vehicles, playing with friends, all was fun.
For now, I’ll probably take a break about Naval (I may retry later, or go to realistic, not sure…)
seems fine as before to me, you have to pick the fights as before cause bad boats there are always been an disbalance on this tiers

Have they ever made it so air dropped torpedoes can have their running depth selected? I remember even Type 93 Mod 3 torps will do minimal damage if they hit at the waterline. Far as I remember all air dropped torpedoes can’t have their running depth selected so they’re not great against battleships due to that.
No, you cannot. Air-dropped torpedoes have a flat running depth of 1 m (I wish you could, though. Preferably with the historical depth settings (this would make some of the torpedoes useless in shallow waters)… just as they should be. Generally there’s so, so, so many things missing from torpedoes in the game. 👀 it’s such a huge avenue for improvements and added depth to be had in the game… torpedoes could easily have more in-depth gameplay mechanics than the missiles in the air battles)
lol. Seriously. What are they paying you? You’re cherry picking scores on matches that are half or less filled, @ BR 2.0. There is NOTHING redeemable about any of this, and the staunch defense of this mode, that is clearly unloved, uninteresting, and likely fatal to the game mode, is super sus. The warmest anyone gets about these changes is “Meh… I think I can exploit this aspect of the botting”. No one who loves Naval Arcade is happy with these changes. It broke the game.
There’s no aiming. There’s no knowing where your guns are aiming. There’s no understanding of how to lead shots without pointing directly or targeting the ship because you don’t have enough information.
6.0 is full of doods just chilling in their AA guns while their primaries and secondaries fire on their own. Just AFK farming.
They LITERALLY took a giant step backwards into problems they tried to tackle in the past.
It is broken AF. It needs to be reverted. The Naval Main community needs to be consulted.
