The only legitimate reason to retain air in Arcade is if the air spawn mechanic is changed to allow use of your own personal vehicles.
Air in AB and in RB is used mostly as killstreak mechanism that allows You to get the upper hand against a better player.
Ground Realistic Battles is combined battles.
The issue is the balance of CAS rather than the inclusion of CAS.
Ground Arcade is not combined battles. The air is randomized and is given the location of all players, it’s a UAV Strike a la CoD.
Unless Gaijin allows you to take in your own persona vehicles as part of this strike to provide research for them the mechanic has little value.
If it was about combined then air could start from the beginning. At the moment, air is used as a cheap killstreak mechanism.
I think AB would also be combined. Irregardless of it being ‘your vehicle’ or not, you’re still getting that vehicle.

In your opinion. But not solely, or probably mainly. Your attitude is just as unique as the tens of thousands of other players who do not view the game as you do or each other. It is a free for all game, “killstreak mechanism” sounds very personal and not how others view aspects of the game. Hence our different opinion on many subjects.
No matter what will happen, I don’t play AB.
If it wasn’t then You would not need to earn SP in order to get it. (And please, don’'t talk now about how You can earn SP by capping zones or just simply bouncing shells, the name I used is simply a simplification)

It is sad you cannot comprehend the issue with your previous statement. Your opinion is just your opinion in this particular matter and in no means part of thd game for players.

This topic is about chaning a gamemoe into a TO. I prefer a TO added as a new gamemode.
Just because someone thinks that air is something else, doesn’t matter. In the moment as it is implemented, air is just a killstreak mechanism alike.

Something I’ve suggested in the past, allowing first spawn of fighters to act as interception.
Helicopters can already do this and equip anti air missiles.
It is very clear and simple and so no other way to ask. So just think about it, as it is really that simple. I literally mean what the words say/ask.
I already explained above. Perspective and personal approach (to game in general). Explains why opinions vary.

See, it was not hard in the end. It was very very simple and clear.

But they did already change it quite a bit, bomb fuses got a rather long timer, which made suicide bombing not viable, and more recently fighters don’t get ground markers anymore, which makes them pretty much only useful as bomber interceptors or bomber protection.

It explains how I do not see it as a killstreak mechanism by dint of how I see the game to be played, just how you might see it as one due to the way you see the game to be played; neither of which are incorrect as there is no definition set by the game as to match structure, it is just how you see it and approach it. I can understand more than my own take on the game and accept other players opinions, what you stated is more opinion than a fact of the game.
Just in case you are not familiar with ABGF:
(as you slipped to RB when you mentioned requiring SP; I get what you meant though AB works quite differently with more of a defined structure set by the game, RB being more “do what you want with what we give you all”).
There is no SP in AB. The mode produces “waves” in which previous actions give all the opportunity (depending on how quickly you can click the button since limited spots) to be an active part in the air wave (similar to how implemented in Ground PvE).
The spawn is also oddly balanced in terms of air v air and how easy it might be for the attacking side (each wave has one with interceptors and the other ground attack with escort) to get to attack ground units. I always felt you either had no chance as the interceptors are too close (even for escorts to react to, if they bother) or next time the interceptors have no chance to get near before you have engaged the enemy ground forces (usually one run since waves are time limited and your ground vehicle is afk still). But that is a topic by itself, it is rather random.
