F-4E is even or worse past the merge with Su-17
I mean if you’re dying to a Su-17 it’s kinda of a skill issue, I get it if you have no flares but that’s it, that’s like letting a tornado beat you in a gunfight and saying it’s too good at turning

Honestly they are so hit or miss for me, especially on the swarms of Cold fusion F-5s, I wish they were like R-27ETs but they aren’t and they definitely aren’t on the same step as R24T
Like a worse R13M1 with more range and more prone to eat flares
Still if you climp and launch them from above they won’t even now a missile is coming to them

Again get rid of the F-5E and then I’d say let’s try the F4E
Again I’m not saying this as a Anti US main or a Russia main, I mean I’m literally end of the TT with both of them for air and actually end of the US ground TT unlike the Russian tree.

the sead events were 21bis vs f4e and I don’t recall nearly this level of fuss

because they didn’t have every loadout option available as it was most likely meant to take place mid Vietnam war and not near the end, the F-4Es lacked any form of guided weaponry (even though the AGM-65 entered service and had a few kills in Vietnam it was at the very tail end of the war) all the F-4E had was unguided weapons, and i am willing to bet the MiG-21s also had a similar limitation, however it seems to be that the SEAD event was often played by more skilled/aware players, where when your RWR spiked, you knew it was either a friendly F-4E or a MiG-21 vs now in NT your RWR gets pinged by 5-7 different things at the same time, and having the friendly’s don’t ping option is either bugged and not working right now, or just doesn’t know how to handle the amount of different radar sources constantly searching, with me, just flying over a friendly radar station would get you a radar lock spike as well as nearly give me a headache if i wore headphones
21bis couldn’t take R60Ms iirc, only R-13Ms and R3S
Phantom wasn’t limited at all
it was in air to ground, like i said, guided munition, all it got was dumb bombs and rockets, it didn’t get its GBU-8s, GBU-1/5s, AGM-62 walleyes, or AGM-65 Mavericks, as for its air to air armament, for the sake of the events time period it needed no change as it was the wanted time correct air to air loadout, and most of the kills i got was from firing up to a MiG-21 that was flying high, above the mountains or where my ACM somehow managed to hold a lock within 2 or so miles, otherwise, if the F-4E wasn’t limited and could bring said guided munition i don’t think the matches would’ve been as historically one sided as they were, however, in my experience, the historically accurate events tend to be the most enjoyable (the only thing off about it was the fact we got to destroy the radar site at all as it could’ve had a “RuSsIaN InFoRmAnT” in it), also while yes, the MiG-21s were limited with the air to air loadout, its speed, small profile, and maneuverability made up for it
dont forget the F-14A’s used in Vietnam
Were they like early prototypes though? Idk despite being one of my more favorite aircraft I’m unfortunately not as well versed in their early history
no, they were operational F-14A’s. biggest difference from game is they didnt have AIM-9L in 1975.
