But the design of air spawns was a mess - not only due to their locations, mainly due to the way too low spawn altitudes of medium (~ 2km) and strategic bombers (~3 km) - whilst all other classes had af spawn.
It boiled down that all bombers, attackers and interceptors spawned at the grids C4 and H4 so they ran directly into each other. The same happened fighters vs fighters on the other side of this very large map.
I was really annoyed for years because the majority of bomber pilots had zero chance to drop their bombs on those 4 non-respawning bases. But - after years of getting chased around the map i decided to prepare a bug report. And after 1 or 2 months they fixed the spawn alt - and on the 3 c+p maps France 1944, Huerttgen 2nd an Moscow 1941 with similar size and layout.
But the hidden airspawn created some imbalances and real snowball effects if enough experienced fighters used it, the report is still open, That’s why i asked the fellow player above if they fixed it.
Imho the “reasons” at least for prop BRs are clear - PvPs player could enjoy long dogfights on the right side and PvE players try their luck on the left side. In case the own and enemy interceptors neutralized each other (or were even absent) everybody could have fun and score points - and a lot of matches there ended by time or not seldom by a last minute kill of a pillbox or base.
Just too much fun and not “engagement optimized” enough…
IIRC correctly this map caught the very tail end of the 60 minute game timer, as I fondly remember landing 2-3 times and killing ground targets further and further into the red territory with an occasional late game dog fight mixed in.
If they would offer a 5-20€ per month subscription to play wt 2019 - i would pay…
This 1 hour timer created a lot of epic battles. Golden times of Air RB...
I still have a screenshot on my inactive account with a score of 9.262 points on Naro-Fominsk - and remember a match old Ruhr map (3 respawning bases) - 50 minutes 1 vs 1 in a Ju 288 vs a Spit - we agreed on a non-aggression pact and i bombed the living hell out of (almost) non-ticket relevant bases like there is no tomorrow - and this insane guy killed over 70 Ground units just with his guns…and missed the 3 x 6 car spawn after 55 (?) minutes and lost by tickets…
That distribution is so stupid lmao. This further exaggerates what we’ve been complaining about, the map is so big and yet only a small fraction of it is used.
They literarly have everything in the game already, they just need to copy paste multiple times, which they proved are capable of doing for a long time.
Sadly this specific map is too small for top tier Air RB.
I did some duels on it in custom battle, and you are almost at BVR missile range on take-off. It’s a great map for props, and Gaijin should definitely take some inspiration with it.
16v16 is still plaguing air RB. There’s no finesse at top tier anymore. It’s just pray that your team fares better in the missile furball. The entire mode needs smaller matches, and top tier needs the larger maps. Or just bring back air RB EC already.
We keep saying 16v16 is TOO MUCH and MAPS are TOO SMALL yet Gaijin keeps shrinking the air RB maps.
Even some big maps like Afghanistan and Rocky Canyon have been shrank by about 30-40km. I don’t understand. Why the fuck is gaijin doing this?
If I’m being honest, even 128x128 is small for top tier jets that we have now. These things are too fast and agile and have long range weapons capable of scoring kills in bvr over 40km. But gaijin doesn’t allow having any fun like that.
When I ask some players why they don’t like the bigger maps they say “I don’t want to fly 10 minutes to get killed and go back to hangar and start a new match”…WTF?
Why do you have to be so pathetically incompetent to always get killed? Props have it worse then, you always have to fly 5-10 minutes in them wasting time climbing and the dying to some unbalanced BS like XP50. Why not do some proper tactic and flying with the brain that you don’t have you morons?
Even better if you get discouraged from playing top tier, there will be more room for actual players instead of these utterly stupid bomb and rocket trucks always grinding like the fucking piece of shit that they are, filling in the place of actual teammates who will help fighting the enemy.
With all the new fox3’s coming into the game, we’d have to face about 80 of them in a small area like the city map. How very convenient that is. After those flying everywhere dropping like meteor shower, then we’d face another storm of 100 IRCCM missiles. How can gaijin fuck shit up like that?

Dude you believe that to work? Haven’t you tried to play night battles to see how completely ineffective that option is? What are we looking for here? A cHaNcE to get 12v12 or WE WANT 8v8?
