16v16 is too much for air rb

Lets be realistic, it won’t.

It’s part of the human nature to be hopeful

16v16 is exceedingly hectic and very much a not enjoyable experience at 11.3+. Especially for anyone in a stock aircraft that isn’t a UFO (F-16).

I do hope we can see something changed before new year’s update. Top BR air is a very very big mess right now.

16v16 is fine for ratings where IRCCM missiles are uncommon and aircraft carry few missiles to begin with. 8.0 to 11.0 are in a more or less fine state. Its 11.3+ where it just becomes a mess requiring omniscience to maintain situational awareness.

Not entirely true, at 8.0-10.3 where missiles aren’t common, dogfights happen and its very chaotic. It is impossible to have a 1v1, 2v2, or a 2v1 without having several other players close in on your location.

It also leads to imbalance later in the match, and 5v1s to end the match are exceedingly common.

16v16 should be removed for all BRs, forever.

16v16 below 11.3 is at least playable without omniscient levels of situational awareness. It is possible to be blindsided by a handful of threats at these BRs, but most of the time a player who knows their stuff in a strong aircraft can be very dominant.

It would be nice if the aircraft numbers were reduced here, but not so critical that it happen immediately like for 11.3+ air battles.

It makes weaker planes even more irrelevant because the playstyle of bad planes is that you have to either play full aggro or play a bit more passive and wait for the enemy to lose some altitude.

But if you get swarmed by good planes in a bad vehicle, there’s simply nothing you can do.

The point of the BR system is that every vehicle can be effective at its own BR, so you can enjoy every one of the 2,000 vehicles in this game. In practice, playing anything off-meta became a worse uphill battle when more players were added to the teams.

You dont have to follow the crowd into a furball who only care about head ons and only want 1 kill per match. There are alot of players that are just in it for the pew-pew like its call of dutie

I hate 16v16 for Top Tier with passion.

There are no dogfights, there are no BvR engagements either, nor WvR… nothing.

Just a furrball of everyone shooting everyone mindlessly in headons and being overwhelmed by dozens of missiles in the air simultaneously before the match is over after 47 seconds of chaos.

Only times I have fun at Top Tier are when half the teams die, and the other halves go back to rearm before re-engaging, after which the match is basically an 8v8. Only then there are actually interesting engagements and fights.

This is why I avoid playing Missile Thunder; the game stops at 8.0 for me.

Much more fun - and it feels like skill matters more.

That how you lose games in higher tiers where energy states don’t really matter as much anymore.

You need to get kills quickly in high tiers to let your team snowball, thats how you gain match influence; ideally kills on actually strong planes and not on some bombers too; that meta will never really change in a PvP mode.

If you play passive in higher tiers, you just make the match outcome dependent on your team, instead of having actual influence yourself.

Its a TDM-style mode, you’re not supposed to get a lot of 1v1s.

The goal is fighting well and getting kills in the furball in that chaotic situation without dying yourself.

However I do agree that 16v16 is, especially with potent missiles too chaotic; its basically impossible to be aware of all 16 enemies positions simultaneously in the furball, and that along with the spotting system sometimes literally just not spotting people until they’re very close just makes the whole situation even worse (imo top tier should have an “AWACS-mechanic” that perma-spots everyone at this point anyways).

The whole ARB game needs to change. Think about it, lobby, time, take off time, then actully game play is very short

Needs multiple spawn points so everyone can play to there strengths, be it front/ rear aspect missils, high/ low altitude, fast or slow. Instead of the furball in the middle in the middle of the map. At the moment everyone is starting from the same position

Yesterday I was flying the F-14 in Ground RB and I had a dogfight in which I actually felt adrenaline. It has been a long time since I last had one of these, I remember having dogfights like this one back in 12v12, it’s a shame I can’t have that anymore in Air RB. Personal satisfaction can not be achieved in the current 16v16.

It really is funny how aircraft in Ground RB is far more satisfying than aircraft in Air RB. I think this is on purpose. Ground is where Gaijin is focused. Air is just a support mode so people can grind out their planes for use in Ground.

It’s really sad that Air has just been left with such a sloppy game mode.
