yes yes but how exactly it does what is the secret part
You don’t need to worry about a game like War Thunder, as a service game like War Thunder, you can always look back and add something that was missing from the World War Two, Cold War and so on. Just because Gaijin will, at some point soon (I believe it’s not going to be in the first Major update) implement next-generation airplanes that the game will suddenly die, this is a good thing that will regardless force Gaijin to two paths: adding older technology or going full on paper, which I highly doubt on the latter as well.
I thought you were going to say fixing the game
Sources actually suggest something different. That Meteor goes from Mach 4 to Mach 2 in order to optimize terminal maneuverability to hit the target.
If War Thunder progresses to 5th gens in 2026, I will be very disappointed in the game as a whole. So many 2nd/3rd/4th gen jet aircraft not added, so many munitions missing, so many bugs unfixed. Pretty much all ARHs are severely incorrectly modeled, the range being much lower than real life. Seriously, things such as PL-12s being lower in range than AIM-120A is so damaging to the realism of the game, which is a core aspect for its popularity.
Top tier is somewhat fictional in nature, with countless aircraft and weapon parameters being wrong. If this isn’t fixed, there’s no point in going to Gen 5 jets, as they will be infuriatingly underpowered compared to real life, not to mention further unbalancing top tier.
Look at Naval for example. Famous top tier battleships including Yamato and Bismarck were added in Leviathans, but were riddled with historical errors. Naval popularity did rise, but much less than many were expecting. The issue was the Naval gamemode itself, as well as the incorrect modeling and horrible balance. The hype has since stagnated and popularity dropped to numbers not much higher than baseline.
If the “guesses” are true, Air as a mode will likely also experience a brief jump in popularity before stagnating. In the long term, this will only lead to the slow death of Air modes. The thing is, investors and businesspeople think overwhelmingly about short-term profits, and are proportionately ignorant of sustainability and long-term outlook.
Let’s just hope those at Gaijin know better. I look forward to the light of faith in the Snail for the bright future, but it seems to be uncertain.
Gaijin already said 5th gens are not coming before the second half of 2026, so I’m not sure why you would even ask that.
The semi-good thing is that once they add 5th gens and run out of top tier jets to add, their only options are to prioritize fixing bugs and going back to add more filler aircraft.
6 months is not a long timeframe and is very short when you consider how many aircraft are messed up and need to be fixed. Not counting the countless tanks that are incorrect.
Heck, even basic shells like HEAT, and APCR are performing not like they should. Same with Incendiary rounds.
War Thunder should frankly still be in the early to 80’s in terms of what era aircraft should be right now, since they’ll gladly rush job an aircraft, screw it up, and then leave it to rot and die. I’d rather not have 5th gens and instead just have gaijin actually fix the game, If gaijin at least fixed a few of the problems I have with the game, I’d actually consider buying another premium but they spent the last 7 years rushing towards 5th gens made me distrust the company with any money I have.
It’s why the T29 I purchased back in 2016 was my first and last purchase that I trusted gaijin with.
Typically Gaijin requires actual documentation of the missile’s range rather than speculation. The issue here doesn’t lie with Gaijin but with the Chinese government for being so secretive about the capabilities of their equipment.
They do that a lot though. KH-38MT. Gaijin is picky choosy on theoretical configurations, what things COULD carry or couldn’t carry
you are the goat
When you inquire smin about this, he would tell you that on average the developers already do 1,000 bug fixes every patch. The other problem is that fixing incorrect performance doesn’t pay the bills, the average player wants to collect a vehicle, grind it, and go on to collect more vehicles. They don’t care too much about vehicle accuracy of something they already grinded so it’s hard to monetize fixes.
Just because there’s no proof that the KH-38MT never was testfired doesn’t mean it never was testfired. Gaijin may have documentation that we don’t. We do know the IR seeker for the KH-38MT exists and appears to be interchangeable for the missile itself.
Explain?
im looking forward to smacking the F22 noobs with an ASRAAM
Unfortunately F-22 has MAWS, probably why they’re so eager to introduce F-22. Would have been fun to just have IIR missiles for a while with all of the late 4th gens and smack around some F-15EX that doesn’t have MAWS with IIR.
because MAWS works so well in game already
It’s not so bad after they introduced trajectory filtering.
Sad Gripen noises.
It depends on how Gaijin decides to model the stealth elements, especially when facing AESA radars.
F-35 is pretty bad. If not for the stealth, it would barely be a 13.3 aircraft
New weapons for Gen 4.5s might make a difference ,or it might not.
I would like to see IIR missiles come to 4th gen first before 5th gens come, just for some (UK/France) fun.
Far more needed to deal with the current top tier imbalances than Meteors for example
