Yeah, chart says 2x Mk83 and 6x Mk82s for a base kill so sounds about right.
On the bomb stat card it has TNT equivalent, that is the best way to compare bombs. But I dont know exactly how much “TNT” it takes to destroy a base. Id guess around 1200kg-1400kg
The Saab 105G is what I did a lot of work grinding in Sim for Sweden. I really like it very much as it’s a good “multirole” aircraft: Take out 2/3 of a base with Mk.83’s, then on the way home you may use the AIM-9B against aircraft, rearm, kill the last 1/3 of the first base and another 1/3 of a next base, maybe engage more planes, repeat.
Although I have not personally played the SAAB-105G, based on previous experience, I do not expect it will perform well in air simulator mode.
First, it only carries two air-to-air missiles. While air-to-air missiles are not essential, not having the proper equipment for air simulator mode makes aiming with cannons extremely challenging (you will struggle to hit enemy player planes), and only having two air-to-air missiles means you will be constantly rearming on the airfield.
Second, it only has conventional “dumb” bombs and no access to guided weaponry. This means that you are going to get fairly close to any AI ground units and fly through a lot of anti-aircraft shells heading your way. While CCIP improves bomb accuracy, you will still have to dive hard every time to verify your targets, to the point where being shot down by enemy AI anti-aircraft units is fairly common.
Unless you want to bomb bases, I anticipate this plane to be quite difficult to play in air simulator mode.
Sim can be a safe way to use your boosters. I usually use my 100%+ boosters in SIM with a premium/tali vehicle. Choose a lobby with few people (the best being starting a lobby by yourself) and use a timer for the landing reward.
With a 500% booster you can safely reach up to 55k/60k RP within 30m (with premium + tali/prem).

The BR the 105G is at is of course where dumb bombs and AIM-9B’s are used, so being able to carry 4x Mk.83 1’000 pounders plus 2x 9B’s is quite good.
Also, the aircraft has CCIP, so using the bombs on bases is very easy. And it performs well enough in dogfights against potential adversaries.
Of course it’s not a fighter, but a good bomber/attacker that has teeth to be able to defend itself very well! Also, it has no stand off ground weaponry, so going against ground battles is tricky (but you got CCIP, so maybe you’re lucky getting some targets from altitude).
I usually do this with it:
Take off, head for a base, and 10 km from the base pop up to maybe 2000 m or better more above ground.
Identify the base, dive, bomb, disengage - all still out of the more dangerous part of the AAA bubble.
Then turn home OR to the next spot where you might encounter enemy planes (that may well mistake you for a cute but feeble snack) and engage them before returning to the base and repeating the whole process.
I do something similar, when playing SU-22s, but a bit more aggressive…
Fly very low towards the base, in the last moment pull hard up, roll on the back, pull hard down so you have the nose on the target, level wings, release bombs in the dive and get the hell out of there.
The whole action takes less than 10s, AAA is never a problem and you are very hard to see.
And on the way home I have six R60(MK)s to throw around. Sometimes you can even snack a zomber who just took off.
Basically yes, minus the “more aggressive” part: A quick, fast pull-up will not work with this still rather slow, weakly powered aircraft, so you have to start your climb earlier, to prevent too much loss of speed.
But basically that’s the same for all aircraft in that role in Sim.
This statement couldn’t be more untrue… 🤦♂️ People who don’t have the gumption to learn Sim, bank on the equipment excuse.
The truth is, nobody has the same equipment. I myself don’t have VR, and don’t consider it a burden to use normal head tracking in its place. There are many players who thrive with mouse and keyboard, or a controller, in place of a HOTAS system.
Here’s the secret. You have to apply yourself and be ready to learn. It doesn’t matter what your setup is. If you don’t put in the time, you won’t get better.
Yeah, the only issue is that if you reach the cap of the rewards, you’re not going to earn anymore during those 15 minutes. Which is rendering SIM somewhat useless to grind in.
If you are reliably hitting reward cap from PvP, then youd almost be better off jumping into ARB, you’d earn a lot more. But if you are after a slightly more relaxed playstyle and looking for more PvE action, then SB is far better
You get your speed back in the dive. This also works with a fully loaded F-84, which needs ages to accelerate. So Im pretty sure the 105G can also do it.
Approaching a base at 2000m is a free kill for every interceptor.
Yes and no. Id like some bonus reward for doing really well. The other day I cleaned up 4 kills in the FG1 in the space of about 5 minutes. But part of SB is play style / mindset. I disengaged and RTBed. Those 4 kills then paid out over the course of the next 20 or so minutes.
