Are there any plans to add the MXY-7 Ohka to the game any time soon? And if so, how?
Unless it’s able to mount and use weapons or it’s a target, I doubt it would ever come to the game.
iirc there is an interceptor variant with no war head nose and 2x20mm which probly gonna be similar to the BI. Lemme find the source real quick.
Edit: SENSHA: Ohka-based Interceptor Fighter
no, and never.
they’re not giving it for various reasons and that have been said several times
it was mounted on the g4m2 and it could be used as a “radar” guided missile
why not implement the same was as the ki-148
that is… interesting to say the least.
sadly war thunder might not add it bc it was “never made”. then again war thunder will eventually run out of content to add so we can hope sometime soon they will finally add more vehicles that were just concepts and planned vehicles or even mockups. i hope they add vought v-173 and lippisch p.13a or even the heinkel he 288
2 differents things,…
Ohka requires a “Pilot” not a “Radio Command”
Ki-148 can’t get a view of it’s own missile, and guide it from it’s aircraft.
Ohka puts a pilot in it, so the game would have to consider two different to one player,… kinda impossible from Gaijin PoV (for 2 aircrafts that is)
also, it would gives gaijin a hard time, as it’s an Only-Purpose Manned Kamikaze Aircraft, that would definitely increase the PEGI of the game, which Gaijin was reluctant to do.
I don’t think it’s a problem. The Ohka could be considered a controlled munition, with the pilot being merely a “cosmetic” having the hidden function of an essential mechanical component.
well, but still “no”
this would be possible only if the Okha was possibly automated, through TV or Radio-command.
the Ohka have been Denied by several Gaijin Official Q&A’s since 2013.
hmmm ok i see
i killed your assumptions, because when this day will arrive, they will simply go for the development of a new game engine, and redo the same thing all over again,… on a new game that would be called something “War Thunder 2” or something with “Thunder” in it.
hell nah
bro why tf would they do that instead of adding conceptual and planned vehicles like lippisch p.13
even less information on than Ohka,… (Ohka still can’t enter the game for socio-political reasons - throwing a human at anything to get a “kill” would definetly raise PEGI and similar instances)
they’re not “World of Warplane” from Wargamming studio,…
they have said that only aircraft that were ever build would enter the game, and all non-built vehicules would disappear or never enter the game.
they have made the few vehicules that were never built to disappear for new players → in such they’re keeping their promises (Panther II / R2Y2’s / KT 10.5cm for exemples)
so the game will never accept your lippisch P.13a as only the DM-1 was started (a free fall demonstrator) but unfinished,… and don’t speak of P.13b which never seen any Freefall demonstrators,…
the problem also come from the lack of ressourceful informations about such unfinished projects
be glad that they’re already accepting built prototypes aircrafts. (Ho-229 was at the limit already as it was finished in the USA after the war)
The MXY-7 “Ohka” is a interesting aircraft that blurs the line between “aircraft” and “Munition”

Mostly known for being a “purpose built suicide attack aircraft” used during the last days of WW2, it is also the only design of it’s kind to see combat (Fi-103R was pretty close to second place and the Special attack variants of the D4Y and Ki-67 never saw combat) and only one to spawn various different models, from trainer variants, thermojet and turbo jet variants equipped with the Tsu-11 and Ne-20 and a supposedly used “interceptor variant”

however despite such historical importance, the Ohka will never see WT, mainly due to the unique gameplay and balance challenges it comes with, the “efforts” to keep a low age rating but also the uncomfortable nature of “suicide attack”.

But if one really wants to slam into an enemy ship with a AP warhead and sink it from more than 10km away we can find a way to bypass the “one way trip” part.
We can glaze over the cockpit with more metal skin to “hide” our pilot

But if you want a glass cockpit still…

…we can also modify the X-ray and replace the pilot model, look at the next picture and try to find the “weird” part.

You see it? Our normally grayish pilot X-ray model is now a blue “electronic” module, similar to a radar, This would make the Ohka the only “missile” with modeled modules and X-ray view. Maybe even a first person view with a cockpit with a black and white and low resolution to further justify “it’s only a computer”

Not only would this allow to keep a clear cockpit but also still justify “pilot snipes” as a reliable way to shoot down ohkas without making every bullet detonate the warhead.
But wait… how would the Ohka be played or fired?
A g4m2 (not present in any TTs yet) will act as our mothership for the next 2 modes.
1st mode: “Smart AI”, our bomber will simply use the bombsight like a targeting pod (but no thermals or zoom of any kind), it will designate a point of interest and drop the MXY-7 within range, when it happens the player will lose all control to where the Ohka “pilot” does, it will simply decide to lock onto the nearest enemy / base from the point of interest and slam into it no way to counter it except shootin it down while it flies at you.
2nd mode: “Player controlled”, when you drop your MXY-7 you can press “V” (by default) to swap into a third/“first” person view (remember that no “pilot” will be present), you can also press “O” to see your X-ray model and indeed confirm that there’s no pilot in the “cockpit”.
But how would one control the Ohka? Well first all controls are intact from normal aircraft, except throttle controls.
Your rockets will be binded to your “fire armaments” or “ignite boosters” binds, pressing said button will ignite 1 of the 3 Type 4 Model 1 Mark 20 solid fuel rockets, which would burn for 8-10 seconds, afterwards one will need to press the bind again until all 3 rockets are consumed or target is reached.
During this entire time the view can still be swapped into the bomber’s views.
One would preferably play the ohka equipped bomber like this:
1st step: locate an important enemy ship.
2nd step: get within range.
3rd step: drop the MXY-7 and make the bomber turn back towards the base.
4th step: switch into ohka’s view and fly into the enemy.
5th step: strike near a magazine or boiler to disable the enemy ship.
6th step: switch back into the bomber’s view and land at base (if you weren’t shot down)
During the entire time one must avoid the airframe limit of the Ohka, igniting all 3 rockets at once would probably make it desintegrate if one tries to dive.
how could the unstoppable ohka be balanced? Easy, no SL multiplier.
But why no SL multiplier? Because the Ohka would be horrendous to counter normally that isn’t “kill the bomber before it drops the MXY-7”
This would also model the fact that one just sacrificed a ̶P̶i̶l̶o̶t̶ super advanced 1944 computer for 1 ship, the main source of income for the MXY-7 would be the multiplier from a victory, requiring careful and strategic targeting of important enemy players / AI ships.
MXY-7 itself wouldn’t actually make SL, but rather act as a tool to possibly make all earnings from the battle a tad bit better. Being used as an assassin’s tool to turn the tide of a battle.
Eh, i dont see it being added, and if added being balanced.
Last thing we need is (literal) man in the loop missile at WW2 BRs.
That would do next to nothing for some people that either dont care about SL or have other means of getting them.
cant land wasn’t made to land would be far too violent for war thunders 13 age rating on console littarelly the purpose of it is to never come back and blow up
