Bringing politics in the game is just dumb.
The game is political at its core. It’s based on conflict between nation. It started as axis vs allies.
All of these political issues would have been avoided if the tech trees and “sub-trees” were done better, and tanks would go to their manufacturing countries. Instead of the absurdity of China receiving an Abrams, or USSR receiving an Ukrainian tank.

It doesn’t matter how you spin it. Armed conflict between nations is political and the game started based on ww2, between axis vs allies. That is political.
RU and US are often times paired together or even playing against themselves lol.
This cannot be political but you want it to be for some reason.
Adding a T84 to USSR can be seen as political, as a statement that Ukraine is still part of that bloc, when currently they are NATO aligned.
Again, real life alignments don’t matter.
This is why US can be paired with RU and China to fight against NATO aligned countries like Germany, UK, France, etc.
This game isn’t political, it’s the people obsessed with it that try to make it into one.
They do matter, because players will get upset. Like how the chinese players got upset at the VT4 being added to Japan.

The current tech trees are a relic of a by gone era, where matches were historical and it was only ww2. They need a complete rework or the political backlash will continue to appear every time they add a new tank to completely unrelated nations.
Political heads getting upset over vehicle additions but are perfectly fine with our current MM that makes non-political matchups. Double standards at it’s best and it just shows people don’t want to share their own vehicles with others, simply by using politics as an excuse.

It’s not exactly double standards. And not wanting your nation’s tank in another’s one that has been hostile to you is not an unreasonable motivation to be upset.

That’s why i said the tech tree needs a rework. With the current system it’s basically impossible to have a “realistic” battle even if gaijin wanted to implement it.
VT4 is not a Japanese vehicle. No one gatekeeps Japan from getting their vehicles. It is being prevented from receiving a Chinese one.
I know the argument is “But it’s actually Thai vehicle because they bought it from China.” No. It goes into Japan tech tree. There is no mechanic that indicates the existence of sub-trees, that’s just a convention. At the end of the day, no matter how you spin and twist it, a Chinese tank would’ve been in the Japanese tech tree.

You made a very broad statement that can be interpreted in many different ways. Same ethnicity? Sharing borders? Are they friends? Are they enemies?

Why should Czech Republic be under USSR and not Ukraine ?
