Why russian tank have coded in game perks?

Gaijin intentionally implements hidden perks for Russian tanks, various in-game behaviors and data-mined information have fueled community concerns about potential biases. These issues continue to be a topic of active discussion and debate within the War Thunder community.

  1. Game Damage Model and Spall Mechanics
There are reports and datamined evidence that certain Russian tanks have internal components or ammo racks modeled differently:

Some Russian ammo racks appear to have less spall damage or are shielded by internal components.

A few components are allegedly set to not generate secondary shrapnel (“createSecondaryShatters = false”), reducing the chance of chain reactions.

This can lead to less frequent ammo detonations when penetrated, especially compared to tanks where ammo is directly behind weak armor.

Because without those changes russia wouldnt have top tier tanks theyd be at like 11.3 max

Is this also a reason why russian ammo go red and doesn’t explode waaay more often than any other nation tanks?

They don’t.
Spall mechanics are based on armor type as well as mass of the round impacting the armor.
T-80BVM and VIDAR for example spall rather identically.
T-90M and Abrams will of course spall similarly as well. [Note, spall liners are not the armor and are thus not addressed in this example.]

Damage models are universal.
Ammo racks don’t spall period, mild steel tends to not have spalling coded. Ammo itself is damaged identically.

I’m honestly impressed, now I’m curious what he does irl to give him the ability to be on the forum 24/7 in every single topic.

This must be more than one person or he’s getting paid
Anyway I’m not joking go ahead and test him this is funny he will have to jump from thread to thread xD too many notifications xD

last time I pasted a line of code where u can see what is happening in the game about russian vehicles he reported me for hate speech and I got blocked XD
can you imagine haha these people man

@MOTULCOW
I’m effectively retired.
Rich people pay for my life, especially the United States government.

Either way Bazie misrepresenting people again for no reason.
This is a European game, the game engine is open source:

The entire game has been datamined countless times.
VIDAR lacking spalling has been complained about since its introduction because it uses high hardness steel in-game [the same armor type that T-80BVM uses, Centauro and others too].

Nation bias does not exist. Not American, not Soviet, not German, not Israeli, not Swedish [despite Sweden being the favorite among one of the owners of Gaijin], not Italian, not French, not Chinese, not British, not Japanese. There has never been bias in War Thunder.

There was a time when USSR had the best jet in-game: Mig-23MLD, but this was right before Gaijin had the resources and know-how to implement things in parity better, and F-4J was added 1 update later to compete against MLD, and F-14A came in shortly after F-4J.

Also I never reported anyone on the forum for hate speech. Though if one gets in trouble for hate speech, don’t do hate speech.

I’ve had not seen any bias

yup alvin say again you live in the US and getting money from the goverment of course
you randomly paste this same story when nobody asks so it must be truth xD
hahaha
This is not european game ( whatever that means ).This is a russian company and a russian game. Just because they have office in Hungary doesn’t make it a hungarian game.

  • Not just Russian bias: Gaijin admits that national preferences—driven by staff and monetization—impact game balance.
  • Game quirks magnify effect: Russians benefit more from certain “bugs”, e.g., ammo rack inconsistency, volumetric armor, spall suppression, stealthy heat-seekers.
  • Top-tier dominance: Russian vehicles (especially MBTs, helis, CAS) dominate high BRs, likely due to a combination of “bugs”, buffs, and delayed “balance” patches.

The convergence of bugs, design quirks, delayed nerfs, and admitted biases has given Soviet-era vehicles a persistent edge—especially at higher tiers. It’s less a conspiracy and more “Gaijin’s messy systemic bias”, influenced by dev heritage, monetization, and game complexity.

If you’re frustrated playing SB or RB after BR 9.0, you’re not alone—and you’re experiencing the core of this so-called “Russian bias.”

Anyone who play the game for long enough knows what’s going on. \

And you Alvins go avay please xD stop it - get some help.gif

1- The developers work in the European Union.
2- Sweden being a national preference contradicts your previous claims.
3- Ammo racks currently have zero bugs at this time.
Volumetric armor benefits cast tanks the most, which is largely French and American.
Spall liners are largely on NATO vehicles.
The AIM-9M is the only stealthy heat seeker at this time.
4- The best MBTs in the game are Abrams and Leopard 2. Neither are Soviet.
The best helicopters are AH-60, International, and Tiger. None are Soviet.
The best CAS are F-15E/I, F-16C, Su-30SM, Su-34, Rafale, and Mirage 2000D RMV. Only 2 of which are Soviet.

1 Doesn’t matter
2 Doesn’t matter
3 Watched a video on YT 3 hours ago where a russian ammo rack doesn’t explode 3 times in a row for a youtuber and he said something funny about this whole thing.
4 “The best helicopters are AH-60, International, and Tiger. None are Soviet.” - can you imagine this guy actually had manners to type this XD these people man :D

Personally I have the most enjoyment in this game at 9.0 to 10.7 fighting and killing russian tanks, so if that is what you call russian bias I fear you have a poor understanding of what the word bias means

@BazieStook
Wow, you watched old War Thunder footage where there was an ammo bug that impacted all tanks in the game, including but not limited to Leopard 2, Abrams, Challenger 2, etc.
Ariete use to have ahistorical blow-out panels for its ammo storage.

I hope youre not implying that hes wrong about this because alvis is 100% correct DIRCM doesnt matter because spike helis arent around long enough to even have missiles launched at them

No - I watched new war thunder footage and what now?
And maybe impact all tanks in the game couldn’t find a code for this but definietly impact the russian ammo rack more often than other nations which make sense since it’s coded in the game this way xD
and what now
