Why isn't there a cup/league/rank system in War Thunder?

It would be specially useful for lower BRs where new players can face level 100s in a match and get seal clubbed. And it isn’t like War Thunder has few players to face long queues if a rank system is implemented. And as a bonus for Gaijin, a competitive system will encourage players to play more which in return can bring in more cash from players.
So why don’t we have this system in War Thunder?

NO.
SBMM has led the FPS shooter scene into a wasteland, let alone the pvp experience across the gaming industry.
Not everything must be a sweat display, even if top tier sometimes feels like it.

they tried this with an event, went horrible

Well the giant gap between players’ skills cannot be solved in any other useful manner.
There can be level based ranking but not all level 100s have the same level of skill.
As you said, not everything has to be a sweat display but with the current meta, it is because the try hards don’t have their own matches and plague the casual players. With a ranking system, try hards can get their own matches and casuals can get their own. Even in top tier, we can have a casual top tier and a try hard one based on different ranks.

which event was it?

There’s one way: git gud. I still remember how I got battered while grinding my first tech tree, and it didn’t hurt me nor broke me into asking for competitive modes nor an official skill based matchmaker.

wrong. You’ll still get sweats stomping you on casual modes if that’s your concern. They’ll just use secondary accounts (more than now) to jump to less skilled matchmakings.

No. Really no. War Thunder does NOT need more sweat. If anything, it needs to de-escalate.
ESPECIALLY given how unbalanced (and filled with cheaters) the game currently is.

was quite a while ago, don’t feel like looking for it since it legit was not fun.

I do consider myself one of the try hards or at least I try to be. I’ve got like 7 crew sloths purchased and am planning to buy the remaining 3 as well to bring in as many vehicles as possible. I shoot down enemy nukes at every given moment and try as hard as I can to ensure a win.

Their secondary accounts will go up in ranks as they win too. So overall they will be inclined towards areas of their own skill.

You can’t ban try hards. The best option is to make them play with their own and let the casuals enjoy a casual match without a try hard spammin LMURs and Kh-38s at them.

Lvl 100 != skilled, crack. Take yourself as an example.

Correct. As I said here.

You’re missing they can just spawn and j-out vehicles, skewing the stats of the secondary account just enough to keep it leveled. And if you think I’m overthinking, you’re underestimating the playerbase’s creativity. If I thought it, so many others better than me.

That’s a game design flaw, not a skill related one. Don’t overextend and ask for things that will do more harm than good because of you’re getting the short end of the stick by current “balance”, because oh man the things I would ask for if they were in the name of unfairness.

And what has that to do with sweating?
Nothing

A good player dosent need to sweat or try hard to do good, look at the major WT youtubers they aren’t tryharding and still do far better than the average

There can be mechanics to prevent it. For example ranks changed based on activity percentage in match and if it were below a certain amount don’t lower them.

It has become a periodic occurrence that ppl are asking for sbmm

And there is a simple reason why gaijin will not implement it

It reduces the suffering during the grind, which gaijin wants to keep up so that ppl buy premiums

You get 2/3s of a point:

it’ll definitely make the life of their recurring players even more miserable by having to play competitively every single game without any particular benefit, it would be a kick in their own nuts.

It can at least artificially boost the chances.
And the WT youtubers are also benefiting from the lack of a skill based ranking and most of the time they’re seal clubbing specially the ones in lower BRs.
They are skilled for sure, far better than I am but like 70% of the people they kill are way below their level of skill.

it would be a horrible change

just think of how many people would throw leading up to events to make event grind easier

Not for the really low skilled players which came to WT to get a cool top tier tank
They would benefit quite a bit because they would mostly fight equally clueless ppl, that don’t know maps and sniping sniping spots

And I never claimed to be a good player, just one that tries hard in the game and doesn’t want to play chill and casual and I feel bad when I get more than 8 or so kills in low BRs against new players. I enjoy matches were it’s a few guys left on either team with more than 6 deaths and still refuse to give up and fight till one side wins.

But there’s the caveat, a beginning, low skilled player with its shiny new premium tank will of course have its fun with SBMM for a few dozen to maybe even a hundred games, and eventually become a decent player. Then little Timmy will get sucked in the misery of facing progressively harder opponents, and so will go the enjoyment.

The benefits for casuals are ridiculously thin and statistically short-lived compared to the disadvantage for everyone else around wether slightly below or above average. Not to mention that if you have are reasonably skilled, you’ll never touch a chill game ever again, not even in reserves.
