Before I start, I want to clarify that I’m basing my opinion on being an avid Focke-Wulf enjoyer, having flown nearly every variant (I fly exclusively Air Simulator EC) and my opinion is mainly constructed from that experience as well as the official War Thunder Wiki.
Now that that’s out of the way, I’d like to say that for me personally, no matter what the player performance is, it makes absolutely no sense to have the Fw190 D-9 and the Ta152 H-1 at the same BR when the latter is better in almost every aspect imaginable from performance to armament. You could make an argument about the roll rate and low altitude vs high altitude performance, but that doesn’t make too much sense as if you’re flying the 190, any variant, at the end of the day you’ll be doing boom and zoom and strict energy fighting so low altitude is more of a situational advantage and, given that nature of the aircraft, the Ta152 is overall superior. Moreover, what mainly bothers me is that I don’t have an urge to pick the D-9 because I know that I will knowingly enter the fight in a worse airframe just because I want to fly it… It’s like picking an older car because it has an emotional value, while the new shiny one sits next to it being better in every way except the soul.
To conclude, I believe that the D-9 should sit at the very least at 5.3 (where the F4U-4 sits which is also better than it in almost every metric) or even at 5.0 where the comparable P-51D-5/D10/D20, the Typhoon, G-14 Bf 109 and various Spitfires already sit. Either would do, and moving it to 5.3 would honestly be enough for me as it would still separate it from the Ta152 which is the main thing I’m advocating for, to give it a reason to be flown other than sentimental value. Additionally, just changing the sim BR won’t affect the point and click fandom (AB/RB) and could be packaged together with other aircraft BR changes specific to SB to improve the game balance and make more sense than a single aircraft constant change in the files.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this and if you have any other similar examples please share them, I’m interested to hear which other aircraft could be reinvigorated with a slight BR shift. Thank you for reading and wish you all happy flying!

Sim BRs are fully ignored by gaijin and have no basis in reality. There are hundreds of examples of situations like this.

I agree and it’s a sad reality, but if we could compile a list of some obvious ones they may be more willing to make the changes (half the work is compiling the list and they are more likely to make changes for a list of aircraft as opposed to a single one, at least that’s my logic, I doubt BR value in the code is more than a single constant so it really shouldn’t be a high workload change). I know they intentionally ignore premium aircraft BRs like the Sea Vixen for example, but with these tech tree vehicles they have no monetary incentive to incorrectly rate them. I only fly Germany so I’m not familiar with similar instances in other tech trees, could you please list a few from the nation/s that you fly?

The D-9 absolutely should not be where it’s at, they might’ve updated it but the flight model feels slow as well although being limited to a Ps5 controller it could just be the effects of AEC. Although I’ve not noticed anything lacking in speed other than the D-9.
It feels a little bit more agile now compared to before where it was an absolute boat but something still feels off about the top speed and energy retention.

Extremely easy one, the FG.1 and FGR.2 Phantom are at 11.3. The premium F-4J(UK) is a strictly worse jet with no upsides to these jets, and is worse in a direct comparison. It sits at 12.0.
The Su-27, the Su-33, and the Su-30 premiums all sit at the same BR in sim despite wildly different performance.

Oh, I didn’t know it was a problem among the premium vehicles as well, that’s quite odd as one would think that at least in that area they would make sure the BRs make sense as they want people to buy premiums. Perhaps it’s a way to make the pricier ones more attractive? Very confusing either way, premiums are quite a touchy area for them I’d assume, do you have some tech tree examples?
I was just thinking the exact same thing.
In the next Planned Battle Rating Changes, I plan to propose A-4/3.7, A-5/4.0 or 4.3, A-8/4.3 or 4.7, and D-9/4.7 or 5.0.

I think these guys are going to make a new WWII game.
Mark my words.
In my opinion, this is the reason behind the current adjustments and the lack of attention given to the low Battle Rating (BR) range.
