What do you think I’m doing? Try to lock them just give up? I follow the thing for minutes sometimes and it just doesn’t wanna lock.
Hell, I’ve had slow moving drones only 1.2km away and the missile would not hit.
If they’re not within lock range then they’re not close enough to harm your team.
3-4km isnt close enough?
Same question I have regarding the Rapier being 9.7 when it should be 9.3.
Certainly close enough to launch a stinger, even at some helis (namely mi-24)

I didn’t experience issues with stingers locking, so unless the LAV-AD stingers are somehow different, you shouldn’t be experiencing issues either.

Just to be clear, you do mean the Fim-92 and not the Ozelot’s IRST, right?
Ozelot has radar, which is infinitely useful at finding planes. Type 93 does not.
Type 93 has optical lock on its missiles, otherwise they are pretty similar in performance. I haven’t played the Ozelot itself, but the same Missile on the LAV-AD does feel like the extra few Gs of pull are helpful at following maneuvering targets.
when im on the recieving end of the ozelot it seems to be able to lauch from ranges that none of my ir sams seem to be able to

But when it locks you have no idea that missile is approaching your plane talking about A-4E i was on, i got kicked multiple times without even noticing ozelot launched missile

The missile just doesn’t wanna lock sometimes on targets within 4km.
Helicopters are really hard to get a lock on.
ozelot is more or less ther same but it has radar but the missiles lock I think a bit worse than the type93´s missiles. Or atleast it feels like it, still ozelot is too low for its br. would even change the br it with the flarakpz.

Early SAMs are infact too low.
No they arent. The Ozelot is already barely effective at destroying planes at its BR, so increasing its BR would just give CASers free reign.

If you struggle to use stingers then that is simply skill issue. Nothing more, nothing less.
some can go up, some can go down, it really depends. and the early radar guided missiles are kinda suffering if you have guided bombs or a ballistic computer since you can effectively just sit at 6km range and be practical immortal as cas plane.
