Referring to French Roland 1, not the German FlakRakPz 1. They have respective BRs of 9.7 and 10.0 in all modes, due to the 30° vs 80° vertical traverse limit, also respectively.
roland is trash you just fly high and drop your bombs / guided munition. it cant do much against 10.ish cas when they are smart.
Optical lock doesnt work on any map with a mountain, trees or clouds, and it really only extends the lock against a select few aircraft such as the a10 and su 25, but either way the missile is still limited to its max launch range which is mostly the sam between IR and EO unless you are looking at an su-25 f-117 or a helicopter. Can’t hit helicopters most of the time anyways since there is going to be a tree mountain or cloud in that general direction that will ruin the eo lock.
Still better compared to only try to use ir lock.
Especially against helos.
Situational at best.
It’s 10.3 because is has DOUBLE to G overload at 20g instead of 10g, is faster, maneuvers right out of the launcher, has a near 3x larger warhead and 4x larger proxy fuse trigger radius.
Type 93 is fine where it is.
Locking targets with the ozelot is pretty painful. It also can not hit targets close by.
Planes are always moving. Just wait till they’re abit farther to fire, or fire before they get close.
Bro, swedish LVRB 701 is 9.7 too, and it does not have thermals. it is worst SAM in game right now
well the Lvrbv 701 seems to have its own strengths and weaknesses.
It has no search radar, no thermals and the sight zoom is not good . Its elevation is not good (-5, +35), its missiles explosive implants weight is wrong, it is not 666 g irl, it should be over 2 kilos.
yeah, at least russian heli DIRCM does not work on this missile.
Am i justified to compare it to the Stingers/Type 91s?
yes you are.
But can you say anything what is good abaut LVRB 701 if we compare it to other stingers / type 91 platforms?
I can, actually, say good things about it. For example:
Much larger trigger radius, which, paired with its track IRST, allows you to more reliably hit aircraft in your direct line of sight, no matter what countermeasures or maneuvers they try to use.
Higher max G-overload, allowing it to be snappier in turns, in tandem with having just a bit less velocity.
Compared to Stingers, higher explosive mass.
Usability against tanks with its simple, but reliable, beam riding guidance and 200mm penetration.
Not being able to aim right above you is quite a drawback though, yeah.
*only if you can find targets visualy whit crappy optics. + you have no thermals.
LVRB 701 should be BR 8,7
Finding aircraft with your Eyeball Mk.1 isnt hard. If the Lvrbv 701 is 8.7 material, then Both the Ozelot and Type 93 should be 9.0.
i agree whit you on BR:s, but target finding whit only Eyball mk1 sucks, thats the reason why i still use VEAK 40 in 9.7 lineup.
Its not that bad honestly, the aircraft you dont see yourself are very often called out by your teammates.
Plus, most of the time, you cant do much to aircraft spotted by your radar but not your eyeball, it just helps you pre-aim in the direction where they will pop out of. Which is really useful, but not a game changer.
All this comparing the Ozelot to the Type 91, when I’m here wondering why it’s the same BR as the Gepard 1A2.
Arguably also being overtiered doesn’t mean the Ozelot isn’t too.
Why Type 81C same BR as FlaRakRad and ADATS, Gaijin just shit in making BR
