Why is nobody ever helping with repair when I don't have parts?

I’ve been in dozens of battles where I had no parts yet. Essentialy, in each of these battles my engine or my cannon were shot to pieces.
Of course without parts you can basically crawl and misfire/fail to penetrate/miss for the rest of the match.
So I’ve been driving up to teammates while asking for repairs.
I’ve been parking close to teammates and requesting repairs.
I’ve been pinging the map.

NEVER, and I mean, NEVER has anyone even attempted to help me repair.
When I have parts, people are happy to join the repair.
When I don’t, despite being close to teammates, I either have to J-out or be useless.

What the hell is the problem with WT playerbase?

It’s just something we’ve all agreed to do to confuse you.

You should take it personally.

the no-parts-repairing is utterly broken and sometimes doesnt even show up for teammates

Are you under fire when asking for help? Maybe they don’t want to risk TWO vehicles…

Just grind your parts mod in Assault - problem solved. I never go into player v player battle without the parts module.

But, if you are in a safe place, it does seem odd that no-one will help. There’s often 1 or 2 players with the “help with repairs” task so that would be a freebie for them.

Usually you play one or two matches without repairs. While yes, thats painful there are 0 obligations for anyone to be standing next to you for sometimes 45 seconds in the open. It doesnt help anyone if instead of one player dying, two die. If its a safe position, especially if the player is still mobile, yes theres no real downside not to do so and i usually do, but you really cant expect anyone to put him/herself in danger to help you in those two matches. Especially since 45 seconds is just way too long. And theres 0 benefit for the player helping but putting himself at risk and not using possible momentum to keep pushing. (there really should be a benefit maybe in sp for ppl helping, scouting gives tons of sp AND reduces cas spancost while half the times comes with 0 risk for the player)

It really is like this: Do i help a stock player with subpar ammo, subpar mobility and not the best crew while putting myself in danger by being immobile for 0 rewards? or can i find positions to cover such player or push forward which would help the team much more. In a lot of cases the answer is rather easy.

Have you started the repair so that they can actually help?

I’ve personally experienced so many times where i try to help a stock player repair and they keep turning off their repair request and canceling the repair even though i’m actively trying to help them repair.

(As a sidenote you can also drive to capture points to fully repair when you are stock if you are unaware of this)

Edit:
Now that i’m thinking about it there might actually be a bug with the help text that appears telling you to start the repair, not entirely sure but i think i’ve seen it be opposite of the actual situation sometimes.

There’s much worse, trust me.

No, ai’m not. People are happily driving past me while I’m begging them in the chat.
But I think most of the playerbase are bots nowadays. Chat being actually alive is so damn rare.

Who said anything about being in the open?

I get to safety, try to find a spot with lota of teammates and no risk of getting shot, then nobody bothers to help.

Once I have parts people start racing to help me repair, despite me not asking for this. They go under fire to help me repair.
But when I’m requesting repairs, they oftentimes just sit a few dozen meters away doing nothing and don’t bother at all.

And it’s not just 2 matches, each new tank is 1-2 such matches, 2 because stock tanks are not exactly that great and it’s way easier to die without doing anything, especially if you end up in an uptier. For 30 tanks I unlocked recently, that’s pribably 40-50 games, out of these I got damaged probably 15-16 times and was denied repair in 100% of cases.

Yes.
But I don’t start repairs when there’s no teammate around, because once those “repairs” are finished, I can no longer ask for help (maybe that’s a bug?) and I end up with a gun that constantly misfires and can’t hit or penetrate the broad side of a wooden barn.

I just don’t understand, I feel like I’m invisible to people. Pinging, asking in chat, using the quick battle message menu - nothing attracts their attention.

After I’ve asked somebody’s mum to polish my barrel, I got chat banned so I guess not all of my repair requests are appreciated by the moderators… ;)

Cause people’s logic: If you got shot in the first place, then you clearly didn’t see the enemy and therefore not our issue.
If you cannot see them, that’s your problem for being blind.

you seem to be under the impression warthunder is a team game, allow me to enlighten you, while there are fellow blue players they only exist to steal your kills or to be used as bait/tank shield depending on the situation. Honestly just looking at air rb the amount of times I’ve had an ally dive on the plane I literally just blew the wing off of and try and kill him multiple times while utterly ignoring the enemy ON MY TAIL. warthunder is NOT a team game unless you’re squading.

This is a very selfish post in my opinion, in reality, a person without improved parts will function more like a trap and potential additional score for the enemy player than anything else, complaining about the fact that the game put yourself in and blaming your ally is, as I said selfish, the team-based game will reward more the person that plays smart without allies risking them a death than the team-based gameplay exclusively.

Your ally don’t help you get enough spawn points to get a Nuke, meaning team is basically pointless and more like a race in War Thunder to the top three in the match considering that there are tasks requiring a certain position in the match. Using the Nuke as example, you finish the game by yourself, why bother helping your ally when most of the time the rewards is gained through your own effort? Obviously helping allies is useful but at the end of the day only the reward really matters.

Obviously you won’t get a Nuke every match but also the “dream team” that can get you a victory easily through a team-based experience won’t always appear out of thin air, hot take: I must say that is more uncommon than Nuke.

It works completely fine, the issue is that the tool symbol is very sutile and doesn’t show up in the minimap. In my opinion the minimap should be the most useful tool for a ground battles match, being able to distinguish between allied status could help a lot.

I have teammates sometimes remember to help, and I likewise return the favor wherever its 1) possible and 2) safe to do so.

Sounds like you just got unlucky.

This comes down to selfishly-oriented objectives that do not require even the barest minimum of teamwork to overcome.

As stated before, if you want to be able to repair without repair, stay near a cap.
