J-7D is basically a Mig-21MF with way better missiles. PL-5B is probably the best rear-aspect missile in this game, while other mig-21 at 10.7 got R-60 and R-3R only. What we have here is another “F8U at 10.0” thing. And I simply don’t understand why Gaijin moved this thing to 10.7 from the beginning, now that it already performed well at 11.0.

Because the players are bad and don’t know how to use it. BR compression also played a part because it is worse than the Mig-21bis at 11.0, which means that it suffered more in uptiers.

Stop complaining about mid premium planes that are bought by unexpiriance players and are basically free kill. No seasonal or good player with researched Tech Tree will ever buy premium since vehicles in Tech Tree are so much superior.

I really like the PL7’s off the rail speed. What makes the 5b better?

Acceleration / max speed is better, proximity size is bigger, and proximity activation time is lower
They are generally better at longer ranges (due to better acceleration / practical top speed) and closer ranges (due to proxy activiation time / size).
PL-7s (Magic 1) are generally better for medium range / getting a shot off-bore during a rate fight due to higher G pull (35Gs instead of just 30Gs).
I think it’s best to take 3x PL-5Bs and 1x PL-7s due to the PL-5Bs having more utility in most circumstances.

TBH, J-7D is OP as hell at current meta.
It is pretty insane that J-7D has same BR with MiG-21MF/SMT.
I already have these MiGs but, MF/SMT is complently no points for playing now.

I think it’s a combination of the fact that it’s got the MiG-21MF airframe and has rear aspect missiles.
This too, because of it being a premium plane. Little johnny who just installed is gonna struggle with a plane like this when he bases most of his knowledge of air combat based on what he saw in Top Gun.
Now that you said this and I looked at 10.7 planes you right, 10.7 planes in tech trees are just atrocious… Yeah but again most of the 10.7 matches are uptires so its kinda good, but I belive in downtiers is just monster if you know how to use it.
