Why Gun Sights in War Thunder GRB Should Be from the Gunner's Sight, Not the Cannon Barrel

Mmmmmm word salad 🤤

Go play sim or get better at the game rather than complaining. And try to write suggestions without using ChatGPT, don’t be lazy.

Edit: Out of your 30 most played vehicles, 16 of them are premiums and you are negative in most of them. I can promise you you’d be doing a LOT worse if the gunner sight were forced upon you, but maybe you could prove me wrong by actually playing tank simulator battles. Or maybe you could just play sim rather than try to make Ground RB worse for everyone else to satisfy your larping.

Not going to lie, sim mode is fun its completely ruined by they endless cheaters at this point in time, I hope they sort it out some how.

This conversation is not to drag you over to my side of the fence, I am only trying to get a base line for players and what they would or would not want to be added or changed or removed.

This is a education opportunity for me and anyone’s who wants to see where the GRB players and the line is for change (added realistic mechanics)

:)

I highly doubt majority of players would like those simulator mechanics in GRB. It’s surely one of the big reasons why GSB is doa.

I’m pretty sure this is why GSB is DOA:

Want to drive around your comet or Firefly?

Get screwed, you won’t. I get the concept 3 being off-limits: It’s a time travelling south-african IFV thing that has no business anywhere WW2 vehicles. The Firefly though is like, a iconic WW2 tank and the comet looks cool and actually fought even if it’s kinda like the f4u-4 and arrived pretty late.

I want to try ground sim and I’m literally not allowed to.

In air sim I can go and play my F4U-4, A6M3/5, Ki-43, P-51s every day of the week without any restrictions beyond “Hey, you’re now fighting planes 1.0 BR higher than you.” I regularly see people taking super uptiers into air sim too (I saw hellcats at 4.7-5.7 brackets!)

Best part about this stupid fixed vehicle and BR system?

It doesn’t work. You still face copy-paste vehicles.

I would love if they force this on RB, i would play sim to enjoy better realism and gameplay but the actual simulator system sucks, it just picks a random BR and nation every day so you cant play what you want

He’s arguing it should be forced for ground rb as well

Not everyone wants to play sim

They should change sim back to regular mm. If it gets near rb level of players, than i could see them seeking to add sim mechanics to rb.

But that would also require them adding more sim mechanics to sim to make sure that both sim and rb dont end up basically being the same.

Why not ? It’s basically the thing you want.
If you dislike the MM system, advocate for a change and you’re ready to go.

Yeah I get you, MM system in GSB is really messed up. Changing that seems much easier than massively changing how GRB is played.

There is a mode for you. It’s called Ground Simulator Battles. GRB is perfectly fine as a mode as is (just, y’know, lacking in maps). You also haven’t even played tank sim at all. Your most played vehicles in that mode are like, helicopters and even then its less than 10 battles.

What’s broken about Ground Simulator Battles is a discussion that is entirely disconnected from this one. That doesn’t give you an excuse to put up suggestions that would make anoter game mode objectively worse, especially when you’re not even touching on any of the REAL issues that game mode has.

You might wana go back and read the whole convo. I am not talking about sim at all it has zero baring to this conversation.
:)

I’ve been playing with the sights like that and grass in sights for a couple months now to give myself a challenge. Its a lot more fun especially when you pair it with historical sights. I want realistic battles to be more realistic, now its just arcade without the pen markers and fast tanks.

But a revive for ground sim would be the greatest thing they could do. More historical lineups and a regular RB br matchmaker so we can actually play the things we want would be a massive improvement.

So forcing it in RB is not a good idea, but making sim better would.

War Thunder, as much as you may lie to yourself, is a simcade game. It is not 100% historically accurate. It is not worth it to nerf the whole player base for your comedic LARPing purposes when the whole point of the game is to have a shallow learning curve which allows people who have never touched an ounce of vehicular combat to get into the game. If you’re looking for a historical approach to tank combat, go to Post Scriptum (Squad 44), HLL, GHPC, anything but War Thunder. Also doesn’t help your case you quite obviously wrote this whole thing with AI…

no, players should be able to chose how they want their gunners sight

I did. The issue is that the “”“suggestion”“” “”“you”“” “”“wrote”“” does not pertain to this game mode. If you care about the gunner sight specifically, toggle the setting for yourself or go play sim where it is automatically toggled for everyone. If you came under the idea that War Thunder is a realistic game then you just duped yourself because, just like Sundown__ said, this is absolutely an arcade game and so is ground “realistic”. War Thunder has for all intents and purposes a LOT of concessions made in the name of gameplay, and it should stay that way.

Switching to a gunner’s sight-based aiming system in War Thunder would increase realism, deepen the tactical challenge, and raise the skill ceiling. It would transform combat from a point-and-click shooter into a nuanced, immersive tank warfare experience that rewards thoughtful engagement, precise targeting, and real-world-inspired tactics. This change could make battles more satisfying, engaging, and immersive for players seeking a more authentic armored combat experience.

As a person who play SIM infrequently, I can tell you that offsetting the gun sight accomplishing none of what you are claiming above. It doesn’t require nuance, it doesn’t require skill, it doesn’t require thought. You simply compensate for the parallax effect which becomes second nature after enough shots and everything stays the same.

This is an example of a solution looking for a problem

TL;DR you want sim features forced into realistic battles to cope with this game not being realistic at all in the slightest
