Why even have multipathing at this point


What’s even the point if it’s this random, I’m at 40m altitude the whole time, and I still somehow get splashed and killed by this missile. Either make it deterministic or remove it completely, right now it’s I feel like skill does not matter at all, it’s just a dice roll.

If the shooter have alt advantages it possible that multipath won’t work depend on range and speed too

It’s not that it doesn’t work…it’s still targeting the mutlipath target. It’s just that you are in the way so it hits you enroute

agreed, it should be removed :) (or at least nerfed to uselessness)

I really don’t understand how it really work but most of the time when i fire AMRAAM at high alt with speed over mach 1 it likely to hit very low fly target not every times it happen but it feel like it very high chance

The best way to think of it is if the ground was a mirror and the missile is targeting the reflection and not the aircraft.

And there should be more decompression too, current 12.7 planes shouldn’t be facing stuff like F-15s with 8 Aim-120s.

I think it is a decent trade for getting MP removed, though my ominous thoughts tell me it’s part of the monetization system to gatekeep chaff through a mod.

Multipathing isn’t the issue, splash damage is. My reasoning being that every time I die to a fox-3 while remotely close to the deck, it’s because an amraam or fakour has missed me and it’s explosion has managed to send shrapnel into the crititcal components of a supersonic aircraft alike a proxy fuse, however the missile hasn’t poxied it has flown into the floor, not activating the fuse in theory but in practice the damage to aircraft from splash damage is often more than if the missile directly hit.

Yeah, that’s 99% of my deaths from the F-90s.

Though I think the prox fuses trigger on the ground. I think thats what the irl min alt is for the Skyflash is from.

The Mig-23ML/A/D (and any 11.7) being able to face 2nd/3rd gen 10.7 and 11.0s with R-60s/Aim–9Js as their best missiles to facing F-14s, F-16s and Mig-29s in an uptier is very funny, and quite sad. (At least in air RB, in ASB it’s quite different)

Even then, due to kinetics and how much your aircraft moves from the position of impact in the time it takes it to hit the ground and fuse, it just seems unrealistic that the shrapnel should be ae to arc towards your aircraft to the extent that it can rip a wing off or disable your engine

So it was splashed damage all the times when i lunch amraam at high alt against low flyers and managed to killed them

If it was one of those 20km long shots then it’s likely, however if you launch a missile on top of someone and it arcs down to hit them (MICAs are especially good at this) then your missile has a much higher chance at a direct impact

Yep, though even in sim. Mig-23MLD being the same BR as the Sea Harrier FRS1 and AMX A-1A is just insane to me
