yeah I know I called him out for base bombing in two other posts I’m just making a general statement here using him as an example anyways.
People don’t know how to find safe routes when bombing at jet BRs [or prop BRs].
People don’t know about Pantsir’s effective range.
People don’t know about how you get more RP per minute by staying in matches longer.
People don’t know about how doing S maneuvers toward enemy jets when multipathing causes even Fakour 90s to go into the ground further ahead of you [probably slightly].
People don’t know about a lot of things.
Exactly I hate that a lot of people don’t realise this.
The forum and players that post on the forum constantly are not the majority of players, let alone the majority at top tier, tons of players specifically at top tier have still not evolved since the furball r27er and 9m meta of 2-3 years ago and still think multipath is a 100( I think that was the height back then might have been higher don’t think so though.) meter radar alt or don’t understand that they have to maneuver while notching instead of just going 90 degrees.
Not everyone is a sweat.
Not everyone stares at every patch note change.
Not everyone has more than 100 hours at top tier alone.
Not everyone is an adult or older teen playing the game.
Not everyone puts in more than a couple hours a week.
and lastly not everyone religiously consumes or makes aircraft or war thunder content.

There were two nerfs to the AIM-120’s maneuverability and this was one of them.

The other nerf is not outright publicly known exactly where those nerfs originated from but it came at the same time as the range report fixes which makes me wonder if the range report documents were also used to model maneuverability.

They haven’t even evolved since Mig-23MLD vs F-4J. A lot of people get to the top tier with zero flying skills because they just bomb bases. Some people just want planes for CAS, some people are too lazy to learn the game mechanics. As a result, many people just rely on multipath and randomly shoot missiles instead of learning notch or going cold (you will see a lot of complaints about the multipath nerf before). If they get lucky and shoot down a random person at 50km they will assume it’s because of skill or overpowered missiles or someone is a hacker just because they dodged a missile at 5km.
It’s funny, because the same people who defend/partake in base bombing are the same ones consistently struggling and whining about top tier gameplay.
Don’t get me wrong I think it’s very flawed, but napalm bombing in a mig-23 isn’t going to help you get any better at the basics 😅
From their perspective I think it makes sense to say the AIM-120 is OP because they died to AMRAAM at 50km before actually seeing the MICA :D . There was a guy above who said the AIM-120 can’t dodge.

it was made fucking hilarious though from your video in the replies fucking dodged 7 AMRAAM’s and got a HOB’s shot at the same time, literally displays why the aim120 just suck in the META to be fair the enemies brains were small and you had really good mechanics.
would a mica nerf balance top tier? probably not but it would hurt rafales win rate by alot (its currently the highest and by a good margin)
or would buffing amraam balance top tier, it would make it more comparable to a r77 and PL12 while also being a much bigger threat to rafales since they could actually turn or lower drag since the aim120 is currently underperforming against maneuvering targets and would help the lower win rate countries such as italy and the US. just my thoughts
The answer here is to make fox 3s generally a bit harder to dodge, bringing the rest closer to MICA and hopefully encouraging a more stand-off meta in Air RB, because modern fox-3 combat is not designed around close quarters, and that’s why so many aircraft are mediocre currently, they aren’t allowed to play to their strengths in BVR.
However this comes with a permanent decrease in team sizes, because 16vs16 isn’t sustainable as more capable Fox-3s are added.
TLDR: Lower team sizes to 8v8 maximum, and make the missiles better at >20km ranges in order to balance out the enviroment at top tier
what’s insane is people have been asking for 8v8 since the introduction of the su27 and f15a but this game keeps refusing, I do not count the option to switch to 12v12 its just as bad as 16v16 especially as they increase missile loads and its not even a guaranteed its super rare,
I’ve been an advocate for smaller lobbies since it was changed in like 2023, 16v16 isn’t sustainable and just doesn’t feel rewarding.
And yeah what’s up with that ‘smaller lobbies slider’ because ever since it was added, i’ve barely ever gotten said lobbies, and if i did then it was paired with terrible matchmaking (eg, fully mixed teams)
One I don’t think an actual majority of players know of its existence or remembered to turn it on and I also only think the setting is being used when player counts are really low as I’ve only seen 12v12 to 8v8 when its middle of the night or off peak hours. To be fair 12v12 is sometimes common in lulls during the day.
and yeah 16v16 or even 12v12 just wont work especially as we either get stealth or EW or long range missiles i.e. meteor, it will either be unfun or ruin their possible implementation when your getting hit by 16 radars spread across a very small battlefield your guaranteed to be scanned with stealth aircraft, or have 16 different meteor missiles fired at you
