Im pretty sure the f4 ej kai has no slats, same boat as the normal f4ej
Correct. The slatless EJ phantoms are also lighter, they don’t bleed as much speed but can’t turn as tight.
Aim7F is superior to Skyflash though
The reduction in nose authority is pretty significant, though. Slats help so much with getting Phantoms on target. I heard only F-4Fs had significant weight reduction compared to F-4E but if EJ is also lighter to a decent extent then retention should be slightly improved. Probably not enough to make it any good in a dogfight though. Phantoms with no slats are like flying a barn full of rocket fuel.
The EJs have to carry a gun pod so the weight advantage sort of goes away, but the EJ kai has internal gun with the same empty weight.
Err… the EJ have internal gun…
Yes sorry, I meant the american one
I said F-15s AND AMRAAMs… Not F-15s WITH AMRAAMs.
Those mean different things in the English language.
As someone else pointed out, OTHER planes have AMRAAMs as I’ve been shot down by AMRAAMs in the RAF Phantoms before.
Target rolls, Aim-7F gets cleared. Target is moving in anything other than a straight line, Aim-7F gets cleared. Target thinks about notching, but your radar maintains a hard lock. Aim-7F gets cleared. Target is a perfect shot. Aim-7F loses the script and wanders off to Narnia. You lose hard lock 0.5 before impact. Aim-7F loses its mind.
For being the #2 missile (supposedly), the Aim-7F is the opposite of consistent.
