Ive been palying the phantoms in Sim recently (great during the event) and 75% of the time they work great and then… every so often, they just dont. They miss or explode randomly. Its wierd
F-4J UK Gunpod is Vulcan, other naval F-4 uses the colt cannon so i think that might be one.
It’s true, the FGR.2 could carry 6 skyflashes. I recently saw a picture of it carrying this loadout, let me go try and find it
Other way round. The F-4J(UK) could in theory have six, but the FG.1 / FGR.2 likely only had the wiring for four.

They’re not american so they cannot get a ridiculously low BR.

Maybe it was an F-4J(UK) because I know for a fact the J could carry underwing sparrows? I dunno
the F-4J UK never carried a skyflash on the wings, the Fgr1 (and probably) the fgr2 have pictures with them having skyflashes on the wings, there is just very very few photos if any of them carrying it on both the wings and the body, but theres no evidence to say the fgr1 couldnt carry 6

Declassified MOD documents state that the ability to carry Sparrow (and thus Skyflash) on the wing pylons was removed from the FG.1 design (and therefore likely absent from the FGR.2 as that was based on the FG.1):

The BRs are still too packed together - particularly 11-13. A British Phantom is the same BR as the Tornado F3 which makes no sense at all.
Admittedly the multipathing nerf made them a bit more dangerous using the Skyflashes but still, it’s a struggle even with a fully spaded one. The stock grind must be awful by now…
So british phantoms even worse than american F-4J?
Yep, with the exception that the FGR2/FG1 have a higher top speed at low alt and 30 more CMs. But F4JUK is worse than the american F4J in every respect
So in comparison british F-4J:
- Lacking HMD
- Have worse SARH missiles
- Have weaker engines
And I forgot, F-4S only have modern cockpit and wing slats in comparison with american F-4J?
“in the R.N. version” theres still a chance it could be on the fgr2 then as they are pretty difference in wierd and wonderful ways (like radar and landing gear) so its not impossible, tho i could of swore the fg1 had the ability to take them on the wing pylon, strange
The FGR2 and FG1 have been power crept.
The RADAR isn’t as good as the F-4S at the same BR and the Skyflash is terrible now.
the UK Phantoms have no HMD, no agile eagle upgrades It cant turn, it cant 1 v 1 anything.
And the MiG 23 will run it down your speed isn’t relevant anymore. You need to carry a draggy gun pod which degrades the fm even more.
It’s just not an enjoyable experience, best strategy is to try to get some altitude, notch everything that looks at you and then join the fight use your Skyflash from 6km use your AIM 9G on aircraft not looking at you. AIM 9G is very flare hungry.

12.0 is about correct for F-4 FG1.
USA’s F-4J should go to 12.3, and all 12.3s upward go up by 0.3.
Literally identical to F-4S/J’s radar.
HMD doesn’t matter nearly as much as you think.
HMD does when you cant turn your airframe and the AIM 7F is far superior to Skyflash

the two fgrs have different radars, and the f4-ju(n)k is literally just a worse f4j at the same br but a premium

oh. i didnt realise gaijin didnt…model… them… yknow what i should of already expected gaijin to not correctly model it, they seem to hate correctly modelling british aircraft… yknow like the harrier, lighting, hispanos (granted theyve been semi fixed iirc) sraams…ect
