I don’t understand the reasoning for some planes to spawn at much higher speeds than others in air battles, for example, the Su-30Sm2 spawns at mach 1.2 while the F/A-18E spawns at mach .8. It makes absolutely no sense for the faster plane to get a speed boost when spawning, it gives it an unfair advantage for climbing and bvr scenarios, the F/A-18C late also spawns at mach 1.2 which makes sense since its a slower plane so the speed boost is justified. But every sukhoi gets this higher spawn speed which I can’t understand. At the very least just make every plane spawn at mach 1 so its an even playing field, no advantages for anyone. Not a huge issue I know, but it just bugs me a bit and I was wondering if there was any actual reason for it.
I’ve seen theories that it is related to IAS or mach limits, but spawn speeds are often so inconsistent that I think it’s nearly random. Some fast planes spawn slow (F-111, Mig-25, F-106), slow planes spawn fast (F-18s), fast planes spawn fast (Mig-29s, Su-27s, Su-7s), and slow planes spawn slow (J-10s, JF-17, any subsonic).
I think 600 or so km/h would make the most sense because faster subsonics often can’t spawn at mach 1.
Not countering your points, but some planes do have significantly lower limits at lower altitudes. However, there are still many examples in game where the spawn speed in game does not reflect the IRL limits for the spawn altitude.
Yep, if they are going to use it as a soft balancing mechanic, then at least actually use it as such
