Why do so many people hate SPAAG

Shooting down CAS is easy for sure. Even with my 6.3 Line up. Stopped so many of them from dominating the air, however my team just couldn’t stay alive vs other tankers lol Was epic fight for me so really enjoyed this one regardless of the lose. Still really sad that people refuse to learn how to play them.

Ostwind 2 is very good. Its a shame it doesn’t get its HVAP ammo, though unlike certain other nations it would surely go up in BR.

M13 and M247 (theoretically) are the best anti-aircraft guns in the USA in their B.R.

After i got the Ostwind II i just left the wirbelwind for me it’s shell is amazing, velocity of 914 m/s and have 108g equivalent of TNT it just kill anything that touch, the new Zerstörer 45 (what Gaijin thinks is Zerstörer 45 since they refused to add it in its final form) is decent good fire power but you have zero chance to survive against anything, good guns but low in ammo capacity, for me the Kugelblitz is still far more superior but can’t use that since it’s at f**king 7.0 for some reason.

After you finally unlock the HE-VT, a rank IV modification, that is.

Because spaag is being op, unfair and toxic game class.

In addition to what was said already about it not being rewarding enough, I generally go into ground battles to contend with tanks and other ground vehicles. Yeah, I can use SPAA when I have to, but it isn’t usually what I go into GRB for. Additionally, the majority of SPAA in the nations I’ve played (namely Japan, Britain, and now Italy) have limited anti-tank capabilities even when directly facing the enemy’s flank, so taking them out is quite a bit of risk (especially when you got that conundrum of there always being a plane when you aren’t an SPAA and when you are, no plane is to be seen).
So overall, while I don’t think SPAAG will ever be popular, increasing their reward should be a good first step.

Okay well, your inability to consider other people is a different story.

Not a fan of camping respawn for occasional 1-2 air kills unless there’s some really really annoying CAS that needs to be shut down. Moreover the US tree gets a really useful SPAA somewhere around 9.0 BR and until then you basically have to spend all your time camping your spawn point unlike for example Gepard and SPAAs similar to it that can destroy vehicles up to medium tanks with it’s weapons.

Skill issue

Literally everyone else in this thread is saying is trash, and tbh, you shouldn’t be doing too SPAAG that much unless you are not trying at all. It’s very much not broken or OP or toxic. If anything, its the only tool people have to fight against toxicity and an op things, aka CAS

They can also very much destroy heavies, those vehicles tend to be very good on the ground to (ItPsV and Za-35 being notable examples)

Because your thread pinpointed the Gepard and German players didn’t like that.

If you target all the 35mm SPAAG generally people are more likely to agree.

However the Gepard should have it’s APDS removed, or be moved to 8.7. it’s a SPAAG- it should play as such. I also am hoping a bit that Gaijin reworks the HE mechanic for the smaller caliber (30-47mm) cannons, but I know that is highly unlikely.

The Gepard only gets 40 APDS rounds. It isn’t what makes it good. It uses APHE in its normal belt mix and that is what makes it so deadly when it attacks vehicles from the side. It shouldn’t be moved up to 8.7 over 40 APDS rounds.

Fair. But in all and complete honesty, every 35mm Oerlikon cannon SPAAG should go up in BR by at least one step if it retains APHE. These vehicles are SPAAG- and should be encouraged to function as such.

Nah, just only allow the DM-11A (Gepard) 3 to 1 HE to APHE mix instead of allowing it to have so many APHE rounds. The same could be implemented to all gun based SPAA to nerf their ground combat ability so they could go down and become more useful SPAA.

I’d be oooook with this if Gaijin fixed the 30-47mm HE mechanic. Currently the Gepard Overpressures vehicles insanely well for no valid reason and it’s quite frustrating. Although, that said, it would be NICE if the YorkyBorky got some solid AP shells instead of the stupid SAPHE, or at least if it allowed us to bring a full HE-VT set up instead of the one one mechanic.

I’m gonna give my piece of mind here about SPAAG

I don’t gonna mention high tier because everyone else did it already and low tier has been briefly touched.

But i wanna throw in the fact, that not much SPAAG or AA exist in general.

Best example Italy:
SPAA starts at 1.3, then 2.3 and going to 3.7
So far, so good, but then the next SPAA is at 5.7
Great, i have nothing inbetween. What about AA guns mounted on normal tanks?
I have M24 at 3.7 with top and the Sherman Ic at 4.7 with top. No other tanks have AA capabilities.
Premium? Another Sherman with top mount at 3.7.
At 5.0 every tank has AA guns on top. But at 5.0 starts the CW era and that is something else.
Until i reach 5.0 i have 6 tanks in total, that can deal with Aircraft, the other top-mounted MGs of italy tanks aren’t that good enough to deal with planes because 8mm caliber is too small. 7 if you wanna count Premium to it.

What about US?
Almost every tank up to 5.0 can deal with Aircraft thanks to the 12.7 caliber MGs.
And after 5.0? Every tank has 12.7 caliber MGs top mounted.
But what about SPAAG?
We start here with 1.7, going to 1.7, from 2.7 jumping to 4.0. And then comes SPAAG at 7.7.

There is a clear design choice here. People don’t get the tools they need to deal with CAS because they play the wrong nation is terrible.

Gaijin really needs to buff the SPAA and AA capabilities, CAS can be only so far nerfed without making them profit. I don’t mind Gaijin to sell OP CAS to players, but we have yet to recieve proper means to deal with that.
