Want tank big boom, not baby pew pew
probably

Doing anti air simply isn’t rewarding enough. There’s always tanks to shoot at but you can go entire matches without seeing a single plane. Its not that I don’t enjoy them, but there’s not much reason to play one unless you can’t bring a fighter out - which has the added benefit of being able to bomb/strafe targets of opportunity if nobody does spawn an aircraft.
Guh??
Wtf???
sigh
AP belts are necessary for SPAA because it isnt just them vs the planes- they have to face tanks too. Stuff like the Lvkv 42 is never going to be good against planes, and the only reason its somewhat usable is because of its anti-tank capacity.
They need actual AT capacity for people to want to play them, otherwise they will get nuked by anyone that decides to spawncamp- and will probably be out of ammo quickly too. Giving them full AP lets them be adequate against tanks and good against air, and adding a lead indicator as @GoneToTheAether has said would help as well.
Stuff like the ZSU will never be actually good at AA, and you just have to accept it. There is a reason people use the Bkan over it in the SPAA role- its because its bad.
Give the players the tools they need to fight CAS, make them want to use it, and you will be fine. The majority of players will never learn how to aim SPAA, which is another thing you have to accept and move on from. You can either add ways to fix this (Leading circle as Aether has suggested, and which I agree on), or ignore it, say ‘skill issue’ and the problem continues.
Making derp guns have it too and HE-TF act like HE-VT would help as well, and thus the SPAA problem would be fixed- SPAA would be worth using, and as easy to use as tanks, so people would play them.
With your suggestion SPAA would be complete dead wieght and people would never grind them. I do agree that we should get full HE belts… as well as full AP belts, however.
I’m not going to rehash the same discussion about your and GoneToTheAether’s beliefs that lead indicators should come to RB. There are multiples things that could be done before that that would make them better. Sights appropriate for SPAA with range rings would be the most appropriate first step.
I would actually kill for Range Rings
Ah, fair enough. Weve gone over this enough, no need to string it into endless arguing.
Without knowing the range or speed or any other quality of the target, whatever rings aren’t going to change anything.
It gives a reference to make judgements on instead of having no sight with no reference point to do anything with.
If realistic, 2 different designations, resulting in not doubling the IFV or SPAA that isn’t spawned first.
There is no waste in the slightest.
That sounds ignorant to the gameplay to be real. Is that where everyone is going wrong, they’re playing like their life actually depends on it, being all caught up on the fact of dying compared to actually having fun and just being in the zone?
Nonsense.
Shots don’t give feedback so it’s not going to do a lot, and planes aren’t going to be at the same range and speed to narrow down the shots.
being all caught up on the fact of dying compared to actually having fun and just being in the zone?
Every time people are trying to have fun they get bombed and told to stop having fun and start playing SPAA and air instead.
It will because references are infinitely better that not having any reference points.
I don’t think it’s going to do all that much, and certainly not solve any of the current issues.
Much of that time they were out having fun, they weren’t even paying attention to anything other than what was in front of them, so they’d have died anyways.
I tried the Ostwind II, just wasnt for me lol I need a lot of practice with it before I can lead properly and getting used the the RPM. I feel more comfortable using the Whirblewind with 4x cannons since my first match with it and will stick with it till 6.7Br or 7.0. Havent tried the new one yet that they added but im sure I would love that as well.
[quote=“Laserdestroy, post:6, topic:117537, full:true”] 1 of the biggest problems that contributes to these lower ranking gun SPAA problems is desync. You can’t tell if you hit them square or not and it may look like you hit then with 40 shells, but none registered because of that desync. Happens with the planes too. I’ve been pilot sniped by tracer lines 2 planelengths behind me. I suppose it is lile the ghost shell problem for tanks.

My biggest most annoying thing. Watching SPAA’s as I fly away, and avoiding their shots, only to be hit by the guy multiple plane lengths behind and/or above me as I’m dodging… only to be shot down by the shots that are clearly and completely behind me or above me or below me(generally a combo of the above).
Yep, makes it impossible to implement proper maneuvers because the moment you stop because you look clear you die with no shells near you. Imagine the SPAA watching shells pass through a plane they lead accurately on and it doing nothing. I had a game where I put quite a few 20mm hvap rounds unto the cockpit of an SU-25 and none of them dealt damage. Checked it in the replay and it was plain as day I didn’t miss on my end, but I died and he didn’t.
Not really. It’s actually pretty easy, aside from America.
