but that’s for Pantsir
120x120 (on biggest maps) vs 20roundsquares (Pi.R²)
14400 km² vs 1256.6km²
(1256.6 / 14400)x100 = 8.72639 %
all others do 10 roundsquares :
and that’s 2.18166 %

I will never respect those who only play tanks, even if they get bombed over and over again, they always do nothing, especially about helis. Just like what they said, if you are not happy by cas and just want to play tanks, there are some substitutes. Does anyone remember this game’s previous name? These tanks players seems inordinately proud of one’s position
I’ve taken down about as much helis in tanks as I have in SPAA :)
Which was changed for kind of obvious reasons considering the development plan for said game.
You mean like the plane players? I’m assuming you’re one of them…
Airspace is not 2D, it is 3D, the Pantsir can protect a half sphere, whereas the airspace has a volume of 120 x 120 x “whatever altitude aircraft can reach”.
You have calculated the surfaces, while you should calculate volumes. For Top Tier I used an altitude of 15km and for everything else 10km, since those are the maximum altitudes I have seen people use.
Then:
Aircrafts can reach up to 16.8km (F-15A/F-14B) in game.
And Pantsir altitude ability is about 15km,… and that only for a specific point.
The area of interception is not a sphere aswell:
0/85° makes you unable to intercept taregt right above your head.
So even if we goes by that, we have :
14400x16.8 = 241920 km^3 of airspace
For Panstir, I’ll make it easy and consider a cylinder:
1256.6x15= 18849km^3
But it should be like that:
So,…
We have on a simplified basis(pure cylinder), the Pantsir able to cover:
(18849/241920)×100= 7.79%
We can add fast coefficient of 0.7 to correct Pantsir Kill Volume:
((0.7x18849)/241920)×100= 5.45%
So,… i don’t see what can do a pantsir against every aircrafts flying between 15km+ground altitude to max altitude (mostly 16km/16.8km is best for F-15) for Air RB and Air Sim gamemode.
Also to say that if the pantsir is on a mountain, it is unable to track under -5°, so an aircrafts flying low with rockets can reach it.
And, if we consider the same for 10km range SPAAM → it’s about 1.2% of airspace covered.
I believe tanks BR are adjusted how they perform against each other not against air, TO would just be a copy of GRB with out air and would simply use RB battle ratings if it was to be RB, but we know a TO will never happen, gaijin dont want it
The area of effect of an SPAA is not a cylinder…it is a half sphere, or dome. And top tier air maps are as large as 131 x 131 km.
But even if it was a cylinder, the amount of airspace it covers is pretty negligible in Air RB.
Read please,… just read please:
I took into account,… and you’re going stupid for it,… but i’m not going to do full maths of an unknown area due to it being related to speed/gravity/ect. Numerous factor, just to say that the 2% you were talking about are wrong.
As said simplifications are made,… but you’re just being stupid about that simplified thing, since i put a correction coeff.
Oops, my bad, sorry. As we would say in Germany:
Wer lesen kann ist klar im Vorteil
Whoever is able to read is at a clear advantage
If we base the calculation on an Elipsoid with a lateral radius of 20 km and a vertical radius of 15 km, the resulting volume of that Elipsoid is 25132,741 km³
Since the Pantsir can’t fire below the ground we have to split that in half, resulting in 12566,3705 km³ of defendable airspace per unit.
A top tier map is 131 x 131 km x 15 km alt (which isn’t even the actual limit in the game)
This results in a total volume of the airspace of 257.415 km³
Using these values the resulting coverage of one Pantsir is 4.8% of the available airspace not taking into account any terrain features.
The mistake leading to the 2% was me using 150 x 150 km for the map dize and giving the Pantsir a dome of 15km range.
Should have known that … greetings from a former “Berliner” :-P
And as we also say “Lesen bildet” ;-)
Reading educates.
My instructor was not impressed with the strafing runs 😅
Shame :D
I currently play Cyberpunk 2077, Enshrouded, and Dyson Sphere.
The fact none of them are integrated into War Thunder is disgusting and rejects all those wanting to play War Thunder but don’t want play War Thunder!
It just is not fair that I came here with my own fantasy of what War Thunder was and they refuse to make my individual wants into the game a reality. Just so unfair!
Wouldn’t a more accurate relevant area be the distance between objectives / POI (e.g. Spawns) + TGP Laser distance multiplied by some small fudge factor, since anything other than that is mostly useless to a pilot looking to accomplish objectives since there won’t be any relevant targets there?
and so the optimal coverage of systems over the Target area is much greater.
Also the use of a hemisphere is wrong, the engagement surface of most SAMs is best represented by a series of stacked sections of ellipsoids to account for reduced drag, and better motor performance at higher altitudes.
A more relevant metric would be time to kill, for a given attacker / defender pair, since that is easily calculable;
For unpowered ordnance is simplifiable to the time it takes to fall to the ground from the given altitude, and release distance is the aircraft’s forward speed by the time it takes the ordnance to fall to the ground, and further then the offset the defensive system until it is less than said time, since it could be intercepted(either the ordnance, or the attacker).
For guided ordnance it’s the Release Altitude * the Glide ratio of the item of ordnance, which is likely to be further constrained by the seeker’s performance IRL, less so in WT.
And there is some limit where the SAM cannot be defended, kinematically, depending on various factors, and so practically ensures a kill…
You can ask for a mode that would suit what You want in game, no one is holding You back from it!
I still wait for the integration of the Airbus A320 …
If you are right, why did the arcade BR ratings of many open top or lightly armored vehicles jumped up after the fighter vision change?
I would not know i dont play arcade, did the BR of aircraft go down, was there any other BR changies or was it just open tops?
Nobody in Air RB plays the objective. Most are sitting in fighters playing the mode as a team deathmatch.
And I would accept their response.
