Limited support likely still could be provided, even without total air superiority. Especially when you consider things like Drones
You would not use an airfield with in range of your enemys assets if he is prepared or able to destroy them is what i am trying to say. And gaijin is trying to make it work with out health bars
Yeah, and that I agree with, you may have assets airbourne already (i.e air spawn) but as I said before, you wouldnt have such a fast turn around. Unless you had replacement aircraft ready to come in, which they do do IRL (Book I read by a Sea Harrier FA2/Harrier Gr7/9 pilot, he was tasked to relieve French aircraft providing CAS to pinned down forces, and then was relieved himself by I think it was US F-18s.)
So whilst yes, you wouldnt have an FoB THAT close, you might have replacement CAS aircraft that close.
Not if your enemy is able to destroy them, ie he is as cable as you
Yeah, though that is what SEAD and CAP is for. (Like Tornados deploying JP233s) We could really do with some proper SEAD mechanics.

Fully yeah, but would love at least Anti-Radiation Missiles and proper SAM sites in the air modes.
(though we do already have modular, destructible airfields for ASB, you can actually destroy the runways and it stops the enemy team from spawning at that airfield. In theory, a coordinated team could win an ASB match purely via destroying the enemies airfields and preventing them from respawning.
Wouldn’t take much to add proper anti-runway weapons to it)
You could not ask tankers to be cannon fodder though, which is kind of expected of them in the current mode. Which i think gaijin are insulting a lot of there players by doing so,
and everyone is wondering why there is so many ant-CAS posts, because there are young people spending money on WT premium tanks with out knowing what its all about, and that is because how gaijin is selling it
I’ve recently been out of War Thunder completely for the better part of a year (busy getting my real-world pilot certificate, how is THAT for irony haha) but came back and played quite a bit the past week or two and my opinion remains the same as what you were remembering.
Yes, there absolutely are some battle ratings and nation combos where SPAA is not quite up to the task, but I consider that the exception and not the rule. I get a lot of satisfaction out of shooting planes down with SPAA and I think it all adds to the quality of the experience UNLESS my entire team goes air and are not good at it!

İf enemy team is spamming cas then your team is doing terrible in that game.
As long as both side performs similiar spamming cas is not an option.

Sure, but I’d like you to know that even a Pantsir, the longest range SPAA in the game can only cover ~2% of the airspace at top tier.
Gun based SPAA can cover about 0.04% of the available airspace.
Air players will just not go where enemy SPAA is, but teammates might teamkill them for wasting a slot in the team.

There is one problem of TO mode that I saw no reference to, but I simply may not have seen it.
TO mode would need it’s own BRs. It won’t be able to share with RB or AB. Why?
When AB mode changed and limited fighter planes slightly, it caused a whole lot of significant BR changes. All stuff that is succeptible to air will have to go up in BR and will have to be monitored independantly.
Having two BRs for a vehicle is troublesome enough. Now you would have three or (even worse) make an average of TO and RB modes.
It could then be that TO mode turns into OT (open top) mode.
Then purely skill issue cause if enemy team is able to spam cas that means your team is already Lost.
and do what? have you seen the massive difference of ranges?
i mean, we could let you in, and add 4 slots for that specifically - but Air guys are just gonna kill you with ease in ARB.
just think a little, and you’ll see that it would make no sense to do that.
