Why are accidental crashes punished so harshly in Air RB?

Why do I get an 8+ minute crew lock after an accidental crash? Surely there should be some system in place where a certain amount of action can prevent a crew lock, obviously somebody who crashes with 2 kills 5 minutes into the game is not trying to grief. There needs to be some system to identify accidental crashes in combat vs intentional griefing crashes. Often the game itself ends before the lock is taken off, which is SO DUMB. And you can’t change vehicle either, so if you’re playing with a single-plane lineup you’re stuck on that menu screen for minutes at a time. There really needs to be a system to stop this crap, and there are quite a few simple solutions that will only improve QoL for players.

How exactly do you manage this consistently enough that it’s a problem? I have probably run into crew lock and handful of times… not enough to worry about.

Also the player can change their plane as being that Air RB is one slot, having at least 3 slots without having to pay means there’d be 2 other planes on that nation available to play.

Your crew have to walk all the way from the battlefield to go back to the hangar. What do you expect…?

Ive recently decided to grind and spade the attacker fb 1 as CAS for my UK lineup. I rarely play early cold war jets, I hate the gameplay loop. But, decided that rather than zomb through it, i will play it properly as a fighter.

Obviously, having little to no practical experience with early cold war jets and how low i can get to safely pull out of a high speed dive, I decided to larp as tomahawk missile exactly two times before figuring out what the limit is.

I cant imagine how often OP crashes for it to be such problem.

If it’s server problem, blame server
If not, crashing itself is the issue.

not often, but when I play I only have 1-2 hours a day free and it feels rlly unfair when that gets eaten by crew lock, even just one.

The main area that needs to be fixed imo, is either

A) When you “crash” because a teammate rammed into on take-off

or

B) When the game decides to randomly body slam you into the ground due to massive lag spike

Both events clearly not your fault, but will still give you the same crew lock

I think the only plane i’ve crashed a few times in was the vautour trying to do long range sniping in a dive and misjudging just how fat the thing is and how puny its elevators are. Thankfully I managed to learn what airbrakes and throttle control are so it no longer happen.

Not always true. I’ve seen instances where I maneuver onto the tail of an enemy and if I launch a missile that’s incredibly hard to dodge from the rear aspect like a Magic 2, they deliberately nose into the ground. Sometimes they have a kill or they’ve just finished bombing a base. In my experience, accidental crashes are due to server issues, lack of situational awareness or loss of energy in an intense dogfight against multiple enemies. The first is the only one that isn’t the player’s fault. How often are you crashing for this to be a real problem?

My condolences for deciding to grind the attacker. The lack of engine power resulting in a plane that struggles worse than a 262 to accelerate was something I decided to skip. Funnily enough I use the Sea Meteor to do CAS in my 7.7 lineup lol

It isnt that bad…once spaded. Flaps have insane limit for breaking, and air brake does help a lot with managing the speed.

But god, the gameplay loop. Sideclimb for five minutes looking at memes on my phone, then either do one or two pases before game ends; or have to figure out not only why is there Yak at 7k metres alt, but why is he catching up (its exaggeration, but I often see them at higher alt then me).

Is it any good in regards to flight performance? I dont have any hopes for a proper A2G loadout, but it would be nice if i didnt have to fly to the battlefield for a hour.

if you really want to torture yourself, play the meteor mk.8 and enjoy fighting hordes of underbr’s metamobiles with guns that spark half the time.

We call it Sea Jesus for a reason lol
Even when stock it flies fast enough in a straight line at sea level to rip its wings off. (top speed is higher than its rip speed.)
It turns like a Spitfire with jet engines but it actually pulls energy out of its ass like a Yak-3 does. It does get RP-3s and two 1000lb bombs (they drop at the same time) for A2G. You can also fight Mig-15s in it, I regularly did and with proper energy management you can dunk on them.

i forced myself to fly the israeli one because I’m mentally ill and want the blue number on statshark but had to stop because it’s atrociously boring to fly.

Does it get custom loadouts so i can take both? Or do I have to pick either like with the Attacker?

Thats the matter with most of the rank V for me. I do not enjoy the gameplay loop one bit.

try the vautour IIN, nords are so funny to use and 4 defas at 8.3 genuinely goes hard.

The secret sauce is Meteor Mk.4 Engines on a Mk.3 body with strengthened landing gear for carrier ops. In a full downtier you can often find yourself in the air and at altitude while the rest of your team is still taking off. I remember the one game I had was a full down tier, I was in the air before the team and by the time my team was getting to altitude I had already shot down a bomber. She climbs really well.

I made a mistake here, it only gets two 1000lb bombs, sorry about that. I guess it stems from the fact that it was a prototype aircraft and production was cancelled before it could test further loadouts.

But at least the guns are in a good position, bang smack in the middle on the nose.

That would be first time for me in regards to my early cold war jets experience.

dw, happens. Lack of combined loadout is what i miss the most since I transitioned from US 5.7 which I played for entiriety of Leviathans with Sherman (Hell), and I hoped for UK aircraft with similiar to payload, ie. rockets to supress AA and bombs to take out tanks. Oh well.

Yeah, thats additional selling point. I despise wing mounted cannons at jet BRs.

maybe once i grind through the french TT, but that is far future.
